January 2011 car rental

Thank you, Thank you for posting this website.:thumbsup2 We have been looking at MiniVans for Jan 6-13th and all have been over $500 with tax and fees and with this website I got a minivan for $302. Thanks again it is really appreciated.:worship: Maybe as the dates get closer it will even get cheaper. I got a midsize using Alamo codes 2 weeks before our trip in Sept(for a week) for $97 with tax. So the codes are out there you just have to check frequently. Thanks again

what were the codes/company for the january trip?

thanks

what were the codes/company for the january trip?

thanks

we booked through the link in post 4. I'm not sure what codes they used because it is all automatic and the company is Budget but it shows many other companies and prices. The website I usually use to get codes for all other trips is mousesaver.com

i booked back in june and i am glad i did now... i booked a minivan from Alamo for January 12-17 from mco... $267.09 with taxes and fees using the entertainment book coupon for a free day. I just looked and couldn't touch that price. Budget seemed to be the new best deal!

I agree. I got a minivan for 9 days (jan 20th thru 29th) for $390. Now I am getting quotes for $700. I will still check 2 weeks out but for now I am happy.

On carrentalsavers.com does anyone know which size car to pick to get the emerald ailse? Or has anyone done this? I know its supposed to be a mid-size, but not sure what that compares to? Thanks.

Mid-size is the same as intermediate.

I booked through Avis, Jan 27-Feb 1, Intermediate for $219.00 not including fees and taxes. I used the coupon from the Entertainment book for 25% off plus 5th day free, but supposedly the coupon cost will not be removed until I bring the car back. It was the best deal I could find.

Why do you thinking rental prices are so high for next year. I have been renting cars everytime we have gone to Disney and never seen the prices this high. I look at a Mini van from Budget at 302with taxes and fees and the next closest is Alamo at 510. That is crazy to me. Don't get me wrong I'm happy I got at mini-van at 302 but can't believe the differences and how high the prices are.

I don't understand either. I have been renting cars for the past 8-9 years and usually pay around $250 for a full size for 10 days or so. The price on Alamo today is over $1000!!! :confused3 It seems bizarre. I'll keep checking but that is with Alamo and Costco. Very strange.

Still waiting :surfweb:
I recieved from National a $35.00 off a weekly rate coupon, but it expires 12/31/2010. Coupon won't help us yet ! I have National @ $371.72 right now for 1/25/2011-2/8/2011. Hopefully they will send one out before we go ? I also have Dollar @ $356.42 for the same time period, but we're spoiled with National's Emerald Isle. It's just wait and see ? :rolleyes1

Anyone getting any better rates? I'm still at $302(total) for a minivan for 7 days.

Subscribing. Was lucky enough to use codes posted for our June trip and saved hundreds of dollars. Hopefully, a good code will come soon! :goodvibes

Well after much searching, the best I found was:

Through Costco booking Alamo for a standard SUV $500
Using the link in post # 4 for the same class booking Budget $300

I just went through the site posted in #4 and used the Visa code to get my 10 day midsize ressie with National down to $266.44 total. Still hoping for an email coupon to get it down another $30-40.

There is a coupon code on the Visa website (must use card) for Alamo. I was able to get a midsize for $201 w/tax for Jan 28-Feb 6. This is the best offer I've found.

Dollar also had some good city specials, midsize for $225 w/tax.

Thanks, Phantom. I tried the visa code and got a midsize for 10 days with Alamo for $220.75, including taxes.

Don't worry to much you guys I have gone almost every Jan since 2002 (except for 1 year!) and our car rentals have never been over $120-$130, thats 9 nights with a Compact with tax. This would be for late January.

Discounts don't usually come out until about 1-1 1/2 months out, in fact I have found the best rates usually come out at exactly 21 days out. I don't know how they have that figured out but it seems to always be the case.

National's rates dropped. My rate for midsize went from $149.09/wk to $134/wk. My total for 10 days is now $243.70.
