Not sure if this has been mentioned at all (if it has, I apologize and please continue on your way), but according to a CM I spoke to last night at ASMu Disney is planning on raising ticket prices in January. According to this woman, a one park, one day ticket would be about $95 (not sure if that is before or after taxes but my guess in after tax). I made sure to stock up on days just in case it is true.

Ticket price increased used to happen around that time of year but were changed to August to more closely match the release of the coming year's new vacation packages. I really don't see this changing back nor do I see Disney implementing 2 ticket price increases within a 6 month time period. Someone was putting one over on you...

Wouldn't that be a $23 increase over the current price?

Normally Ticket Price increases always go into effect on a Sunday. The earliest Disney will usually announce the increases is late on a Friday afternoon.

The only people who know in advance are some managers and high level people, the programmers for the ticketing computers, and the people who make signs and printed materials.

Often many of us who sell tickets find out when we come in and find that the prices on our terminals are changed, and the sheets we have in the booths to show Guests their choices are new.

The managers don't even give us advance notification. I cannot imagine (a) so much of a jump, (b) word getting out so far in advance, (c) a manager telling line staff, (d) anyone with actual knowledge telling a Guest.

I think you were actually talking to either a bus driver or a Jungle Cruise Captain in disguise.

That would be a HUGE increase by Disney standards.. and there's no way anybody except a VP of the Parks and Resorts would have any clue about this, this far out.

I call bunk. :) But of course, time will tell.

I don't believe she was a manager, because we did speak to the manager in plain clothes later. Perhaps a supervisor of some sort because the (very unhelpful and very unknowing) man we spoke to first asked her for help with our questions. Time will tell whether or not she was accurate I suppose. Just to play it safe, I personally stocked up on a 6 day. I can't decide if I would be able to still support Disney if ticket prices went up that high.

I bet there may be a chance that they could go up in January, but not that much I would think. But going up 2 times in a 12-month period is awful, but I would'nt put it past Disney. Just look what they are doing to the DVCers!!!!

I'm sorry, what is it they are doing to us DVCers??
What did I miss? :confused3

See the huge thread under the DVC threads (misc) - elimination of a fairly well used perk, free valet parking, effective today, with ZERO up front notification to members.

OK, thanks. I have been hearing that lately on other web sites. For us, it does not make much of a difference, as we have never used valet parking. In fact we NEVER use valet parking ANYWHERE. Had a really bad experience with valet parking years ago, and just don't feel good about giving a stranger full control of our personal vehicle, Disney or not.
But I do realize a lot of DVC members use it, and it is a damned shame that Disney yet again takes something from it's guests......:sad2:

In the back of my memory somewhere I remember Disney raised prices twice in one year - but the amount was far less than the $$$ quoted here.

I guess they would consider it until people stop buying tickets....but WOW, that's tough for a family!

Fingers crossed that it remains just a rumor!

In 2006, not that long ago. There may be something to this rumor!

Just to be on the safe side, I will definitely be purchasing the three 5 day hopper tickets I need for our July vacation before the end of this year!

So, if this is the case.....will my already made reservations costs go up for next May?

My kids and myself are annual passholders, but we still need to get a pass for Dad for a January trip. Do I buy a voucher? Or get a pass now, but not use it? No expiration offer? Suggestions?

2 things:

1) Even if they raise the 1 day ticket, they are encouraging more days. IE the 4, 6, or 10 day ticket will probably not increase. I think they are trying to get people who come to stay longer. I think they will keep increasing the 1 day - 2 days and keep the AP and even 7-10 days close to the same.

2) With all the promotions like free dining and 7 for 4, seems that adding 95$ instead of 71$ for the AP holders seems possible. People like me who only add a 1 day ticket for the promo, not to actually go to the park). IE if someone did the 7 for 4 and paid for tickets they would add say 600$ or more for tickets, where I am not adding any, got my AP at a (dvc) discount and will renew with 15 months and a discount. If they don't change the 3 day or higher and only change the 1 day (maybe 2 day), this is probably why. ALSO a sign more discounts coming over the next couple years! YEAH!

I got 2 rooms with free dining in Sept for 7 and 9 days. I got it so my hubby and I could have 1 room and daughter could have the other. Using 1 room for large ticket and upgrading to AP. (the other a 1 day for use when ever.) We got 2 rooms, 2 delexe dining, park hoppers for all the days and the total was less than 3,500. Adding 20$ more for this, I wouldn't have cared. STILL woud have been a steal.

Good idea to purchase ahead of time if planning a trip in next year, you never know when prices may go up...

Brilliant. Float a rumor out there and get people to buy tickets early boosting unearned revenue for 2009 (or whenever their fiscal year is).
