Ok so I see other threads for December and February but none for January.

So DISers here it is!!!:cool1:

Who is all going and what are your dates and where will you be staying?

I will start.

We will be there from January 5th through January 8th 2010 and we are Celebrating our 5th Anniversary as well as our daughters sweet 16!!!!:goodvibes

Now its time to figure out exactly what we can do down there to make it a wow experience for dd's 16th and not just like the rest of our trips....any thoughts???

I am planning a surprise trip for my husband, Jan 19th, fly in, spend the day at DL, go to the Ducks game that night, next full day at DL, and fly home the next day. A pretty crazy thing to do, since we live in Canada. It is a combined Christmas and birthday gift for him, he jokingly asked for tickets to another Ducks home game for Christmas, and I ran with it. :lmao:

Fantastic....I love doing surprises!!!:goodvibes
I am sure your husband will love it.
We once did a surprise trip to DL for a week stay at the GCH for our girls in early January either 2006 or 2007 (I would have to look back to see which year) and they had no idea! We told them that we were just going to hang around town and that we were going to go for pizza, movies, and to the local adventure park for some mini golf and fun for the day. We told the girls that we had to load up the back of our SUV with a bunch of things that we were going to drop off at the goodwill donation station on our way to our day of fun (it was really all our luggage that I had packed at 2 in the morning when I knew they wouldn't catch me packing their things and catch on).
My DH coverd all our luggage in the back with a big sheet and blanket and we headed out for our 3 hour drive to DL when we got about 20 minutes down the road we pulled off the 99 and went like we were going to the goodwill before we went for our pizza, movies, and day of fun and when we got to the good will I turned around in the car and handed them each an envelope with an iteneray and DL gift cards in it and then had my video camera rolling when they opened there envelopes......it was AWESOME!!!
The girls had no idea and they were even more excited that we were going for a week seeing as how we told them that our normal January trip was not going to happen that year due to finances, yes we had to tell a few little white lies, but it was so worth it to see how surprised they were after getting their envelopes and seeing the sheet and blanket come off their luggage!!!!
I just love surprises!
I was surprised myself that I was able to pull this off because our girls were not very young and I knew all through the end of Nov and Dec that we were going in January and I sooooooooooo wanted to blurt it out, but it was well worth the wait!:goodvibes

Me, me!! I'll be there the 22-23. I've already been in October and am going next week, but when Southwest announced their big 72-hour flight sale and I saw that my flight was only $50 R/T, I decided a birthday trip was in order :cool1:. My birthday is actually the 24th, but :confused3 close enough in 2010, right? Last year I had to get my birthday gift card so I made sure I was there ON my b-day.

I'm doing the same thing as firefox (though I live closer). We have done it 3 times and it's actually pretty fun, not to mention you save on hotel costs :cutie:. We leave on the earliest flight (~6 AM), take a shuttle to the hotel, check in, and we're at the park for opening! Then we have all that day and the next in the parks. We don't fly home until late evening the second day.

As of right now we're booked at Hojo's, but I'm toying with the idea of getting DLH for $149. I actually would do it now but I don't want to tie up my money before my trip next week. Kind of pathetic, huh?!

ETA: By the way, OP, it would be a good idea to reserve a space on this page for listing everyone's name, date, and hotel. Just post "reserved for list" or something and you can keep updating with the edit feature.

Great! It looks like us Januarians are so far all going to miss eachother by days and in my case a couple weeks.

BTW I was also just there in October:goodvibes

Coming all the way from Australia on Jan 27th to Feb 3rd for a 6 day trip, 27th Wedding Anniversary on Friday the 29th with breakfast at Minnie and Friends. And staying at HoJo with the ER for the whole trip.

We just descided to attend the CHA (craft and hobby association) show for ouw store in Jan. The show is the 25-27 so we are going to close the store and fly in on the 22nd for a day or two at Disney

The Gray

Me, DS and 13yr niece are going Jan 10-15 (DH is in nursing school and can't take the time off :sad1:). This is our first extended DLR trip, so I'm really excited, me and DS did a day trip there in 08, but this will be way better. We're also doing one day at Legoland, this is the day DS is really excited about!

We're staying at DL hotel, I just upgraded this week because of the buy 3 get 2 free deal. It only cost 70$ more to stay there and I got 1 more day of PH tickets.

So, how early is too early to start checking weather forecasts? I've aleady saved Anaheim in my homepage weather tab so I can check it excessively as time draws near.

We will be there Jan 23 - 26. I'm like Dizme...when I saw the rates for Southwest, we jumped on it. We usually drive from Northern CA but it's going to be so nice to fly instead of 7 hours in the car! Yipppeee

We are doing our annual family trip....this is the fourth year in a row the same week!! 1/23-1/30/10 at GC. Love the AP hotel rate!!! We will spend one day at Knotts during this time.:cool1:

Oh, I am so glad that I don't have to keep this secret right to the end, I am already going crazy LOL. He gets to open all of the gifts for Christmas and his birthday on the same day (probably the 23rd of December, he works in the O.R. at the hospital, so will have to work through Christmas again this year). I plan on letting him open the hockey tickets first, then leave it at that for awhile LOL, then later (after opening a few small gifts) he gets the airline tickets, and then at the end, I give him the package with the DL passes, bus transfer and hotel voucher :lmao:

Wow there are so many onboard the "Have tons of fun at DL in January" train!!!! Lovin it!!!
Too bad so far no one will be there when we will be there :sad1: I was hoping to get to have the chance to run into another DISers and give a little hello gift out.
We will all have to come back to this thread and share our plans up until we go and then come back after and let everyone know how it was.
I guess we will lead off the back from DL reports when we get back with crowd and weather reports and about our trip and celebrations as well as a peek into Club 33 as we will be visiting Club 33 for the 1st time ever and also the last time thanks to a little Disney magic:wizard:

currently planning a trip for 4-8, at dlh. still not sure of the "group" going. have 8 adults from oregon, some maybes from cal. some maybes from texas.

Thanks for staring this thread, TinkandPooh!
I was looking and looking...
We will be there 1/20-1/24, staying at HoJo for the first time. :yay:
Looks like it is going to be me, DH, DD (4), DS (>1) and MIL
(if she keeps off of the naughty list and stays on the nice list...
it's a surprise for her so we aren't nec. committed. shhhh. don't tell DH.)
Also joining us will be my mom, brother and his girlfriend.
Since there are so many of us we have the queen suite and a deluxe room.
I am so excited! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I am staying at Hojo as well.....again. I have been staying there since 1993. There seems to be quite a few of use staying there in January.

What does your husband do in the OR? My husband is currently a ST, but he's in nursing school. I was on OR nurse for 6 years, now I take call prn and am a school nurse during the day. I love the OR but I was never able to get out to attend my child's school functions, that's why I left. With my prn job I can pick when I work, never on Christmas! :)

We're going to see DLR on 1/3 & 4/10 after a cruise. It will be myself and my parents. We're staying @ Hojo's and I'm really looking forward to seeing it. We usually go to WDW.

I'll be there for my FIRST TRIP EVER! to Disneyland on January 4-5 with the best friend. She's an Anaheim native from 10 mins. away, so I'm staying at her home (I'll be out there for 13 days starting Dec. 26). Woohoo!!:banana:

He is a tech (a glorified nurse), he has been there for 30 years, worked monday to friday days up until 2 years ago when they decided to rotate him, so not too bad, he retires in less than 2 years, so missing a couple of Christmases isn't too bad. He actually was a ward nurse for 3 years, and then in the O.R. for 27 years.
