January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

I forgot to share that yesterday when I booked my package I got a very friendly and knowledgable CM. He talked to me for a long time about how things are still not 'booking' they way they would like and he anticipates free dining will pick back up after Christmas. I sure hope so!!!

I just got on-line and priced out our trip for next January. I have a question for those who might remember from last year......the discount from last year where you bought 4 nights and got 3 free - how exactly did that work? Was it just the room price that was free for the 3 nights, or did that include park tickets as well? I understand that you would need to pay for the meal plans for those 3 additional nights, but I wasn't sure if park tickets were included or not.

Thanks for all your help.....you guys are just amazing fountains of knowledge!:grouphug:

Room & Tickets were free. You still had to pay for the dining plan. If you went in January you also got a $200 gift card.:thumbsup2

I was so excited to see we can price online now but I was shocked at how much everything is!! Did prices go up that much??

I did a 7 nights at a value resort, hopper, no water parks and the dining plan for 4 and it came up to $3100!! That just seems like so much!?! We did the same thing last year for free dining and stayed at a moderate and even then it was only $2100. This was $2500 not even including dining. I'm scared to even price a moderate!!

Boy, I really hope they have the 4/3 or the 40% off deal!!

It would be AWESOME if they put the free dining back in for January! Let's put our fingers all together and cross them!!!

Thank you so much!! That's what I wanted to know...makes me feel a little better.....if it was just the room, that wouldn't have been that big of a discount...but tickets too....WOO HOO!!!! Although....free dining would be even more $$$ saved! Either one would work for us!!!! Come on winter discounts!!

So, I think I threw up in my mouth a little bit I was so excited.

But calm me down--when I go online to look at CR garden view, the lowest category offered is MK view Tower. I realize that they only release so many rooms, but yikes! Release more!

So, I'll talk with DH tonight to see if I should book. I can always cancel if we book the Swan but their teacher rates aren't up yet.

Reassure me that everything will be okay. I doubt we'll stay at the CR, but I like to dream and after all....(okay, we watch Cinderella about once a week in our house). But I hope we haven't been dragging our heels.

But with the CM's comment above, I can't imagine that we have. It could be a convention too, I realize that.

Sheesh!

Please add that I'm staying at POR.

I'm hoping for free dining, if not, it's going to be really hard to decide whether or not to be on a dining plan.

The possibility of free dining in January? That would be fantastic for our trip in 2011. I hope that's the case when our booking window opens up (in a year LOL)

I'd love to be able to take advantage of the buy 4 get 3 free deal but last time, our 1st choice resort wasn't an opiton. This time, I'm not compromising on the Poly.

Will I get to take advantage of free dining in January(if they offer it) if I am renting points from a DVC member?

I'm Sorry I post it double sorry! I give you a incorrect date it's January 14-17 POFQ!

Have they ever offered free dining in January? Don't get me wrong, I'll take anything I can get but free dining doesn't really grab me as much as a discount does. I'd just be happy getting the QSDDP free since we like CS meals more than TS. This not knowing stuff is driving me insane!

No worries...We'll get you all fixed the next time the list gets posted! :thumbsup2

As soon as my TA makes the official changes i'll be January 3-10 :woohoo: staying at the Poly DxDDP , celebrating my son's bday which is the day after Christmas but I just couldn't justify that spending and it'll probably be more peaceful for us anyway can't wait! :yay:
i'd much rather get the 4/3 deal than free dining though but any deal would be great!

I just want which ever one saves the most money. Or would let me upgrade to a CR MK view on my measley budget.:thumbsup2 Is that too much to ask????

OK, it's official! We are booked for CBR January 30 - February 6! WOO-HOO, WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!! :cool1:  I haven't been there since EPCOT was brand new, and my husbad and two little boys have never been to WDW. I can hardly wait!

We are going the exact same dates! We just booked POP :thumbsup2

Hello to all! We've had rooms booked at the AKL January 9 - 17 for quite some time. Traveling will be my family of 4 and my hubby's folks. Don't gasp just yet. I loooove my in-laws. We took them with us to POP back in February 2006 for their 1st trip. This will be their 2nd WDW adventure. :goodvibes

We had savannah view & savannah view with bunkbeds booked but it wasn't much more to upgrade to the club level. In fact, my family's bunkbed room was only $45 more for the entire trip to upgrade. That was a major no-brainer. LOL! So this trip will have a 1st for us, too: 1st time on club level. :woohoo:

For now we're keeping our reservations strictly room-only. My MIL wants to keep her options open for the cancellation policy in case there's a work conflict and they need to cancel until they have a very clear indication that they are on 100%. We have FL Resident Seasonal passes so we'll be sticking with the room-only no matter what.

Soooo, now we're watching for those discounts to roll out. Last January we got CR with the MK view on the stay 4/get 3 deal with the $200 gift card. That was sweet! I'd love to get that one again. I'm hoping for at least 30% off the room portions but always wishing for more. Discounts are my friend! ((The 1st time we stayed at the Contemporary MK View all discounts were sold out so we ended up paying full rack rate...ouch!))

I haven't read all the way thru this thread yet but I intend to. Does anyone have anything special they want to do during their trip? We all want to do the Sunrise Safari that's offered at AKL. That'll be cool. We also plan to take our boys for the Lunch with an Imagineer thing. Hubby and I did it back in May '08. Now that the boys will be 12 & 13 we think they'll get a lot out of the experience...knowing the well-rounded little Disney fanatics we've raised them to be. :thumbsup2

I'm glad I found this thread! Great to meet everyone! :grouphug:

Please add us!! We will be at ASMu in a family suite Jan 2-12!! Booked yesterday originally at CSR in a jr. suite, but just kept second guessing an additional $1600!! Finally, DH made the call we switched to ASMu. We are SOOO excited!! This will be a seond trip for DH, DS and me. A first trip for our 2 DDs, and a first ON PROPERTY for all of us! We can hardly wait! The kids watched youtube videos of Wishes all evening!!:banana::banana:

Crossing fingers, toes and eyes for a fabulous discount code for all of us!! The wait is KILLING me!!

Last night after DD was tucked away in bed- she had to get to bed early - not and easy task while on summer vacation.

We got through right away and a friendly CM found us on the system. :goodvibes Nice to know we're in there! So here we have out Jan 2010 vacation....Where did I finally pick as my resort of choice after bouncing from resort to resort to resort! Yes ladies and gentlemen, the the drake family will be staying at Pop Century ! :rotfl:I know what some of you are thinking.

I spent many a night researching and pricing:surfweb:I went on trip advisor websites and watched videos of all the resorts in our budget (that would be value or moderate) and Pop won out. Some travellers have great feedback, anything recent reviews and advise let me develop my pros and cons list, and for those of you that videotape your complete walks to the bus stop or lobby. These were great in letting me know some resorts are not as big or are bigger than expected.

Anyhow my choice to stay value is a great one, I now have that extra money for souvenirs and the BBB. THis will probably be DD's last time in BBB, I am sure after this trip she'll think she is too old. She already told me she won't wear her "disney" clothes (some really cute t's, skorts, capris etc) to school because the kids will make fun of her :guilty:

So we have Pop Century Jan 23 - 31, Deluxe Dining Plan, and Park passes with Hoppers.

I want to add this tip....
The package price was approximately $225.00 cheaper booking through disney direct than online... I had priced out a standard room for my dates with the same park passes and dining and the price was higher on line... last night the CM reserved us a preferred room - he said the location of the rooms I wanted were preferred? The map on the pop thread says otherwise... anyway, so in essence I got an upgrade in room type, so really saved more than $225.00? Unless it's my fuzzy disney math! :laughing:I am going to double check and make sure.

So the Mommy and Me trip is finally set. I did confirm the specifics on cancellations, when I can book my ADR's etc etc... just in case...

Oh- also we asked if there were any deals for this time of year attached to our name... the answer was no, because the PIN expired for us Dec 17 2009. BUT the CM did say not to worry that any new deals announced we will be eligible for and a simple phone call will aplly it to out reservation... hmmmmm wonder what deals they have in store.... :scratchin
