January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Yeah!! The birds are BACK! I was getting so sad when I'd be gone a few days and come back on the same page I left off on...I think I just went thru 10 pages! We're tentatively planning Jan 23-30. We've always stayed 7 nights and planned a rest day in the middle of the week. Since we drive this last time, we only did 6 nights and I think it made a huge difference. I felt so rushed and felt I had to cram so much into the week, I'll definately go back to 7 nights (at least)!Don't know where we'll stay. We may go back to Pop since hubby refuses to drive again so I'll have to pay for airfare!

We're possibly planning a long weekend trip to Vegas in Sept/Oct for our 10 yr anniversary. We'll see...Don't know if it'll be in the budget or not! I've never been, and am not much of a gambler, but would love to see the sights!

Glad the snowbirds are back to their chatty selves! This is such a fun place to hang out!

Good morning!
I just found out there is a space shuttle launch scheduled (at least for now) on the day we go on our 3 day cruise!!! December 10. My DH is so excited!! He's always wanted to time a trip to see a launch. Of course if they do it at 8 a.m., that could be a problem, since we'd still be at WDW.
Knowing him, he'd just forget the last morning breakfast (Ohana) and leave at 6 to go see it from the port!

I'm glad this thread is getting active too. I have missed you guys! I checked out a December 2009 thread (there are two actually) and they are not chatting much these days. I feel better with my snowbird friends.

Going shopping with my brother today. He's single and doesn't have anyone to go and tell him what goes with what for clothes, shoes etc. He buys lunch and I provide some hopefully good fashion advice. Soleil, send me some fashionista vibes!! LOL Today I have to bring the girls since DH is working. I bribed them with the lunch and told them they could look for fancy shoes to wear in the wedding in June where they are the flower girls!

Need some advice: The wedding is my (Dave's) nephew getting married. He's marrying someone I've met a few times. Just got invited to her bridal shower. The girls' names were not on the invite, although they are flower girls. Would it be totally uncool to ask if I could bring them? I know they'd LOVE it! I thought about mentioning it to my SIL (groom's mom) first. The shower is being given by the bride's two sisters. One of the sisters has a son who will be the ringbearer.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

Seriously, how far north are you? Any big cities near you? About how far from MN?

I Live in Thunder Bay which is the biggest city between Toronto and Winnipeg! Right on the tip of the NW shore of Lake Superior! We are 35 mins from the American border (MN) and about 6.5 hrs North of Minneapolis!

NO! Not this girl! My DH said to me the other day (after watching POTC with our 8yr old) "Honey, I REALLY miss Disney!" I do too but it just isn't in the cards right now! So we wait, and save ALL our pennies for 2011!

We are sitting here watching it grow darker by the minute--we are suppose to get some really bad weather before long. YIKES! Rain on Easter!


Well, on a different note----apparently when at the ballpark Thurs. night I got a spider bite. It really started hurting yesterday. I went to the pharmacist who told me how to treat it, and gave me some stuff for it. Well, I also took Benadryl, which I never take. Holy Cow!!! I was knocked out!!!! The pain and swelling have subsided just a bit-waiting for some RX to be called in today or in the morning. Anyone know of a good home remedy? I don't know if I am going to church-the more I walk the worse it gets.

I really hate to miss church on Easter of all days, but, I sure don't want this to spread!!!!!

thanks Andrea!! It's already went down from yesterday and not nearly as Red. Having Levaquin called in today. I can't believe how bad it hurt yesterday, when I never even felt the bite! Thats crazy!!!

Hi Snowbirds I hope everyone is having a beautiful Easter with their families. It's been a while since I've checked in and I need to go catch up. Things have been wild here. DS goes for surgery this Thursday for a splinter embedded in his leg. Don't ask. I haven't had the motivation to get on here lately. Nothing personal I love you all dearly but I'm bummed that we won't be returning for a while.

Hi All ! Happy Easter!
I too have been lurking and trying to contribute on other posts, for those that are on their way to WDW!
I had commented that I was thinking of a Mommy & Me trip for DD and I in August. I still haven't convinced myself. I think January trips have spoiled me. DH is ready to pack us up and send us, but I think the heat and crowds would make me feel like we wasted our money and that would then stress me out
So I commented on going in Jan 2010 - DD would be adult price then and DH says he couldn't go- hate to remind him Mommy & Me .

I'd hate to place a ticker and not be able to go!

With the state of the economy I'd hate to throw money at another trip when in Jan 2010 things may be worse! DD also needs orthodontic work and that won't be cheap either!

I think I need to visit the budget boards

I've never been. We've been up to Lake of the Woods (when I was a kid) and Toronto as a child too. I'd like to get to Toronto (all that hockey stuff! Plus I have relatives there) and Montreal sometime.

Happy Easter, Snowbirds! Hope everyone that celebrates is having a nice, relaxing day today.

We were visiting with family and my SIL brought her recently completed Disney scrapbook to share with us. It really made me want to take another trip. I told DH that we would wait until this new baby was about a year old . . . that seems like so long to wait! That would put us into 2011 if we wait until January! EEEK! I'll just have to live vichariously through all of you until then.

Things with our little Turkey are progressing nicely so far. I think I'm around 8 weeks or so. I'm feeling the effects of all day and night nausea. I've found that I have to constantly eat in order to not be sick all of the time. My weight is really going to be out of control by the time this baby gets here. I have a wonderful team of doctors and nurses watching me carefully. I'm there to see them two to three time a week. I'm hoping that once I'm out of the first trimester, I can scale back my visits.

At any rate . . . I want to hear about your upcoming trips!

Hope you guys have a great time! Toronto can be really fun in the summer! It's been a really long time since I was there! It takes us 17 hrs to drive there from Thunder Bay and airfare is just sooooo crazy expensive for flying inside canada! I hope you guys have a fabulous time!

well did anyone else over do it yesterday??? I felt so sick last night. I have been eating really healthy and exercising and yesterday I ate whatever I wanted and boy did I pay for it later...ugh. Today I am back on track, went to the gym and back to eating healthy again...just keep me away from that candy

Oh well, I've been overdoing it for a week! Candy all the way!! Still doing it, but I put a lot of chocolate in the freezer! I did feel rather uncomfortable the last two nights. Being at work doesn't help either, because one of my co-workers just brought in bags of candy! Her family gathering didn't go as planned due to a medical emergency, so she had tons of leftovers!
I did get on the Wii Fit last night, and felt a little better! I really have to do more of that!
