January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

This was our first time for more than 5 days (6) and I was so happy!! unfortunately, I don't think our next one will be as long if we combine with the 3 day cruise. But that's okay, I keep going back!! I'll be happy with 3 or 4 at the parks and the cruise!

I'm shooting for 8 nights/9 days next time! :thumbsup2 Saturday until the following Sunday!

That might be a pretty hard goal to reach though considering I NEVER get these pin codes everyone else gets. :rotfl:
Hi Snownbirds. Most of our snow has melted here. Going to get warmer here this week, but cloudy and rain. OF course.
Our next trip I am going for 10 days!
Eight this trip was still not enough. Ever trip we stay longer, and it just does not seem enough.

We're pretty lucky this year. We have been planning a trip for our 10th Anniversary for about a year, so we'll be going back this July. I know it's going to spoil me because I'll want two trips every year.;) As long as we keep our January trip going I'll survive!:) We have been back almost two weeks and not being at WDW is killing us!

We booked another trip for March to use our AP's again. Then due to the military ticket deal we are going in Oct too. DH said that next year we have to plan a different trip. LOL
Is a Disney cruise a different trip?:confused3

Hey Pa. snowbirds, anyone feel like fighting with some disers about our outlets here in Pa.? I have been trying to explain to some disers that the outlets here in Pa. does not mean they are outlet prices. They will fight about anything. OMG

 So true. I seriously think some people come on here everyday with the sole purpose of wanting to argue about everything with everybody! :confused3

I would love to try early November too. But this November just isn't going to happen and next November is way too far away! So we are still thinking either Jan/Feb or May. . . :confused3 Right now I'm leaning towards Jan/Feb - mainly because it is closer!! :lmao:

I'm in the same boat. This Nov isn't going to happen and next Nov is WAY too far!!!! My DH said that we will take another trip to WDW by next Nov, so that's good news.

November is a wonderful time to go... we have been there before during that time.... we try and time it so we can get the end of the Food and WIne festival and we can do the first Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party... then we get to see the holiday decorations.... and the weather is usually nice as well....

That is exactly why I want to go in Nov sometime. I just have to see WDW all decorated for Christmas!!!

About the PIN codes - I got mine the day after I entered the vacation sweepstakes. I also entered using d's e-mail, and the next day, she got one too!

Maybe enter the sweepstake with a different e-mail address (my regular one apparently blocks all Disney e-mail and I can't figure out how to unblock it)? That's what I did.

The Food and Wine Festival - when does it usually run and is it an extra charge, or do they just put up food booths around and you buy what you want? I've heard of it, but never known much. I'm thinking I'd like it - Food, Wine, what's not to like? Do you know how early they do the MVMCP? We're looking around Thanksgiving.

Now that I think about it, I did get the pin code after I entered the sweepstakes!!! Time to enter with my DH's email!

Sheree,
The F&WF is great! It's usually late Sept-early Nov, I believe. No extra charge, just regular Epcot admission. Booths are set up all around World Showcase--in addition to booths representing the countries that are already there, they also have booths of food and wine from many other countries. Most portions are pretty small so you can try lots of different things. Most food portions are under $5, as I recall. There are also lots of special events, seminars, and meals. DH did a Sam Adams beer seminar/tasting, which was free! :cool1: (this was in 2002) All kinds of info from the 2008 event on Deb's site: http://allears.net/tp/ep/foodwine.htm Also from Deb's site, "The dates for the 14th International Food and Wine Festival have been tentatively set for September 25, 2009, to November 8, 2009. No formal public announcement has yet been made by the Walt Disney Company, and no other details are known at this time." This would be a great time to go, IMHO! :thumbsup2 I guess it would be too early for the Christmas parties, but I've heard that the Halloween parties are also lots of fun.

Thanks for the info!! If we go in October - I'm all over that!! It sounds so fun! Is it usually crowded?

From what I've heard from recent years, it's usually crowded on weekends, especially in the evening. Weekday afternoons should be fine. :goodvibes

Afternoon Snowbirds! I made a slideshow of some of our pics if anyone wants to see how much fun we had. It's so hard looking at the pictures...I miss Disney so much! I'm trying to talk my dh into tentatively committing to going again around Christmas 2010. It just seems so far away but unless Disney comes out with some seriously good deals, it will have to be that long of a wait.

Click on the picture to see the slide show :)

Kim - I loved your slide show! I kept checking around CBR for some kids who called their mom "Monny" and hoped I would bump into you, but never did! You have such a cute family! I love your picture of Spaceship Earth at night too. I wish I'd have thought to take a picture of us riding in the front of the monorail. That was cool and something we'd never done before.

We love the Food and WIne Festival.... my kids are adventerous eaters and love to try new things.... portions are small at the kisoks but if you are on the dining plan you can use your snack credits for the food... the locals go on Friday and Saturday so I would stay away from that place then...but other than that is isn't really that crowded.... I am not sure it is something little kids would like.... mine are older and they love it...

Last year we went in November (Jersey Week) and we caught the end of the Food and Wine when we first arrived and our last day was the first Christmas party.... worked out great... the parks were decorated but not the resorts!
