January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Good evening Snowbirds! This weekend just flew by.

To all suffering losses, you are in my thoughts.:grouphug:

To all coming back from Disney, can't wait to hear all the details!

It's hard to believe we leave in less than a week! :cool1:

DH finally packed today! WHOOHOO! We have our transportation to and from the airort finally arranged (our best friends (and conveniently neighbors) will be our taxi)! DH is off work tomorrow for the holiday, and DS has no school, but I have to work! :confused3 What's up that that!?!

I think our temperatures today actually hit above freezing! We went shopping - Kohls is having a HUGE sale and we had an extra 20% coupon, so we got some good deals. Lots of stuff was 70% off!!!!

Our crocs were deelivered yesterday. I bought the brown "minnie" Mary Janes! LOVE THEM!!!!

Well, I guess I better get DS in the bath! I'll talk to all of you tomorrow!

Hi Everyone,

Well, we left home this morning at 6 in snow :faint: Luckily it was only about an inch when we left, so it was not a problem, although the roads were not treated at all. We tried to leave at 5 am, but we were up late last night, so we left at 6. The kids did great getting dragged out of bed and into the car.

We got through Wash. DC by 9 with NO problem at all. I was afraid the inauguration concert today would have caused a lot of traffic but I was wrong, luckily.

The kids did great in the car all day - barely watched any DVD or listened to music. They are enjoying the ride, but DD is a little grumpy.

We're now in our hotel for the night. We have 7 more hours to go to Disney :cheer2: We hope to be there tomorrow at check-in.

Hopefully SEE some of you soon!

Well I'm back from the Marathon weekend! Got my Mickey Medal and finished my very first full marathon. My stay at All Star Music was excellent. It took me a while to get used to all the traveling you do at WDW since I am more used to DL where everything is near each other. But once I had that down I felt more relaxed. The weather was great with only one day where we had some rain. The temps cooled by Thursday but that was the day I left and came back to So Cal where the temp was over 80!!! I can also now say that I've been to WDW and DL within a 24 hour period. We left the airport here in CA and drove right to DL (about 15 min away). I didn't wear my medal in but I did wear my Marathon t-shirt and took some pics at DL. What a great trip!

I'm all registered for the Goofy Challenge in 2010 so I'll be heading back to WDW in January 2010!!!!! I can't wait!!!! :cool1:

Ahhhh! It's snowing AGAIN! I'm glad I didn't bothering shoveling this morning. SO GLAD I will be in the sunshine in just 9 more days. Checked the 10 day forecast & (crosses fingers) it should be 78 and sunny on the day of my arrival.

Good Luck to everyone going this week! Have fun!

WE WERE NEIGHBORS.

WE WERE NEIGHBORS, DIDN'T KNOW IT, NEVER SAW EACH OTHER!

That's pretty funny. We must have heard each other - those walls were pretty thin!!

(neighbors. didn't know it. snort.)

Hi Birds, We are back at the hotel.DH is reading to DD7 and DD5 is in the tub! Our flight is at 7:20am! 12 hrs away! We have to be in the lobby at 445am to catch our shuttle to MSP! gotta get some sleep! G'night!

as peaches always says "catch ya on the flip side"

I'm stressing...I feel like I'm at a standstill with packing. Hubby was supposed to make our tshirts and hasn't yet, so I don't know if I should plan for those outfits or just pack other stuff. (And of course he hasn't even THOUGHT about what he's going to pack-and he's notorious for wanting to take stuff that he'll wear the night before and have to do YET another load of laundry)...I'm getting worried about the weather and wonder if I need to pack warmer stuff. (Although the last forecast sounded nice). I'm off tomorrow but have so many thoughts swimming in my head I don't even know where to start! AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

Ok, I'm better now, thanks for listening! I'm going to start working on lists for tomorrow! :goodvibes

I am so with you. DH finally put out 2 shirts, 2 pairs of shorts, and a bathing suit (??). Of course, we are going to 5 days, and the weather report, although looking better, seems to be calling out - "bring some jeans and long sleeve shirts, just in case!":rotfl2:

So, I guess tomorrow on my day off for the holiday, I'll supplement his meager pile with what I think he will need.

We are off to the train station in Providence in about an hour to pick up DD, who decided against the bus and took the train. Of course, her grandfather, when he heard about this, told me that he will pay for her train ticket and that she made a good decision not taking the bus in the snowstorm (he drove coach buses for years as a side job - until he was 80 :drive: :scared1: ) Of course, don't you know - it is SNOWING AGAIN so our drive that normally takes 20 minutes will now take more like an hour. But, I will be so glad to have her home.

WOW!! I guess that would be weird. Maybe there is a reason to decorate doors and rooms huh?

I'm kind of stuck on the packing too. Waiting for the forecasts, and because I have a DD5 who is picky about what she wears, I'll have to do laundry the day before they leave to get all her favorites in the luggage!! Trying to decide if I should just try to throw all the "extra stuff" in suitcases (if it fits) or a small duffle bag. I think I can squeeze most of it in. It's laundry stuff, air freshners, over the door shoe hanger - a lot of it is for the cruise too, so I can bury it. Got to go get out the ziplocs and try to find my ponchos from last trip - we didn't use them! :) Hopefully we won't again except on Kali RR!

I guess I won't look for you all to be wearing homemade matching shirts then huh? LOL! I will look for all the snowbirds that are there with me - especially at CBR!! I know there are a few and I've made notes!!! (I sound like a stalker!)
A week from right now I will hopefully be all ready and sleeping so I can get up by 5 a.m. to make my flight at 7:20! YIKES! I may have to go back and get the link for the Mickey wake up call!

Hey Ya'll!!!
Wendy, so sorry for your losses. My grandpa is turning 80 in Feb---he never seems to get old to me!!! I already lost my granny--so I know I will really miss him when the time comes. Your in our prayers.

Well....dh has a ton of things to finish in this subdivision before Friday!!! We did stuff at a couple of houses this evening and we actually cleaned out/pressure washed the garage!!!!!:cheer2: I got allllllll the tennis shoes and crox washed tonight:cool1: But, while I was outside cleaning guess what I missed......
a phone call, live from the Magic Kingdom.....from JENJOLT!!!!! She is having a ball!!! She sounded sooooo happy!! I was sick that I missed it, but I called her back & left her a voice mail. She is the sweetest thing!!! :cheer2: for Jen and her little Nobby dude!!!!!

Well, we are going to plow into a ton of school work this week!! I got all my stuff ready to ship, chiselin' away on the :laundy: and we should be good to go by Friday morning!!!!!! Last minute laundry stuff, but I am soooooo not gonna be stressin' this time!! I feel much more prepared!!!!

6 days!! I can't wait!!! I think our weather is gonna be good next week snowbirdies!!! Nighty-night!!!

OMG....that is SOOOOO freaky!!!!

DH and I thought it strange that we NEVER saw any of our neighbors ~ we must have all been on different schedules. I KNEW I should have put a LGMH in my window! Did you see the window right around the corner from you? Both parents were marathoners ~ the sign said "Go Mommy, Beat Daddy! " That was cute.

Your dh ran too, right? How'd he do? Mine did fine, actually ended up running it faster than he'd planned ~ 3:47 I think. We are terrible ~ we did not end up spectating AT ALL.....we went to the MK instead. :-) He joined us in plenty of time for CRT!

Oh, and we never heard a thing thru the walls.......you probably heard us "encouraging" the girls to HURRY UP a lot ~ they are both huge slowpokes!!

Three days for me and I haven't started packing AT ALL! Can't even blame DH - although he won't pack until the night before we go.

Part of me is scared to even start. My kids will just unpack what I pack. Last night my son took his airplane carryon (a backpack) and filled it with Wii games. nice.

Morning fellow travelers!!!:goodvibes I am feeling soooo much better than I was last week---hopefully this sinus thing is over!!!! 5 days!!!!!:cool1: So excited!!!! Well, I'll be busy today, so just wanted to come over and say :wave2: to all of you!!!!!! Our last Monday!!!!!
