January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Just another quick question....

I see some of you planning parks.....are most of you doing this?

Do we need plans for each park? Last time we did MK we did Fantasy Land first and then worked from there. We gave up on most BIG rides cause DC are smaller but should we have a plan or do you think it will be slower where we won't really need to do this?

Thanks....
We leave in 5 days!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Shelly- I am 5'2", so yes, it's hard!! In fact, I just got another really cute pair(making my denim capri total 3 also!) from JCPenney. The American Living line is on sale and the little denim capris are perfect!!! You may want to check your local mall!! I looooove these--but am saving them for the trip!!!

Oooh thanks for the tip! I doubt I will get to JCP before vacation, but I will remember that for future reference. Actually I get most of my pants and jeans at JCP, they have a great petite section!

hello all,
Had to come on and report! I am still stressing- my nature ( I guess :confused3 )
This weekend we got alot of snow!
I stayed in and did laundry, all our trip clothes
the suitcases are airing out in the spare room. Our trip itmes are in totes awaiting packing.
I am still waiting on my Minnie Jane Crocs:sad2:
I finished our day by day recipe card travel plans and dh is having them laminated !
I JUST finished our tour book- this trip I became obsessive. last trip Dh made this great little book with menus, our adrs etc day by day... so I decided to do one for this trip... seriously ladies we could publish this thing!!!! So DH is getting it printed and bound tomorrow- crazy!!!!!

We also made our mousekeeping envelopes, pressed penny tubes and dining invitations.

We'll be going to the bank tomorrow to get some US cash, and calling disney to confirm our reservation.

DD made her autograph book.

Then today DD and I went for pedicures and I had my nails touched up. My manacurist made a Wishes design on our big toes! I love them... I got a princessy design on my finger nails...I loved this day at the spa with DD, I need one of those spa chairs! So nice!!!!

So I am done for this evening. I gotta be up early tomorrow and off to work! So much to do so little time!

I hope I can relax on my balcony in a sweatshirt and read too :goodvibes

Thanks everyone, for all of the moral support (and the drinking - LOL!) I did have my nice, sparkling cocktail at home, and then DH and I went up to our local sports bar/restaurant and had some great appetizers (fried calamari and quesidillas (sp??) and a nice tall draft beer while watching some football. Now, home again getting ready to watch the Golden Globes.

-Donna

Sounds like my kind of way to spend an evening. Not much better than some greasy fried food and a cold frosty one!! And I feel for your DD. When I first went away to college, my upcoming roommate called me and basically told me she was planning on shacking up with her boyfried, so she wouldn't be there and if her mom called, she wanted me to lie. I was terrified to be by myself!!

I don't plan everything. We know what days we go to which parks and where our ADR's are. We have certain things we start with and then that's it. I'd like to one day do one of the touring plans, but my family isn't much into it. Plus we like to stop and enjoy the surroundings (the street actors at DS, the fountains at Epcot, etc. I think I will have a "don't miss" list because inevitably there are things I say I'm going to do then forget!

Evening Snowbirds! I love reading the posts from those of you on your trip or just coming home! Thanks! I really want to pack more shorts and capris after reading about how warm it is but none of the stores have them out yet! Perhaps a trip to the mall is in order next weekend? Thanks forthe JCP tip- I'm 5'3 and it's really tough finding capri's that don't look like pants.

Tomorrow I'm making Tshirts for my sister's family and one for me. I also need to make my LGMH. I have clear contact paper that should work to "laminate" it. I'll post a pic of it attached to my bag when I get it done this week.

11 more days...well today is jyust about over so let's go ahead call it 10!!!

I have been checking the weather several times a day. I was a little worried the other day accuweather (has a 15 day forecast) was calling for highs in the 50's for the beginning of my trip. The have raised it to upper 60's for the first three days, then into the 70's. I feel a lot better with this:)

I'm a little bored right now so I was just checking out some other threads. I was looking at one that had pictures in the park at different times of year. Some of the early Jan and early Feb pictures from 08 are amazing! Hardly anyone in the parks! I'm really crossing my fingers for light crowds.

That's what I'm counting on. We've been so many times at this time of year - a lot of our pictures have hardly anyone else in them, and we could walk on just about anything whenever we wanted. I'll cross my fingers with you!

Yeah, these weather reports are making me a bit nervous! I'm all for wearing capris and long sleeved t's all trip, but I don't want to be shivering watching the fireworks either. And I REALLY want the boys to get to try out the new Pirate Pool!! (yeah, whine...whine...I'll be at Disney, I better just suck it up!!) :rolleyes1

I was going to print out touring plans, but I decided against it. We know which rides we want to do (mostly rides for our DD) and that's it. As for deciding park days, we have to since we don't have park hoppers. It's just one park per day for us!

THANK YOU MEGHAN!!!

Glad I could be of service!

Yea! So glad to hear that crowds are light at the end of January. Anything will be better than the summer crowds!

Plus even if it is more crowded, it won't be so horrifically hot and humid, so it will still be better.

Exactly! I only know what it's like to go in the summer! In 2002, we actually went in March and I still remember it being very hot. I don't remember the crowds at all....maybe it's because I was pregnant with my DD! I didn't ride any of the big rides (ok, I rode Splash Mtn, but I was given the ok from my doc).

Sorry you had such a terrible day Dklam.

ditto!! That sounds just awful!! When it rains it pours...What a day!

I am hoping that the crowds will be lighter than even last January. I read so many posts awhile back where lots of people(due to the economy) were cancelling their trips for '09-----I think the 4/3 deal helped some people, but from what we've been hearing, it's not enough.

I don't remember who posted about wearing capris and long-sleeve t's, but that's what I will probably do-and bring a jacket--it does cool off in the evening--but when you are walking around, you warm up--especially at HS, where there is no shade during the day---I always get red from the sun right on my nose and chest-where my T-shirt vees- from watching the street people there!! Even in January!! Not like a sunBURN, just enough to make it red! But, I will bring a jacket with a hood for the kids. AAHHHH --I can't wait!!!

Are any other snowbirds driving down like us? We're leaving on the 22nd and will arrive in WDW on the 23rd. I'm thinking I may even stick a LGMH on our van just to keep in the spirit of things.

Also, for those of you who printed off your t-shirt designs from the DISigners, I need help. I don't want to sound like a moron, but how do you get the actual design? I see the DISigners posting the requested DISigns on their threads, but how do you then get them print to your transfer paper? Is it as simple as a cut/paste type thing?
TIA.

Good morning Snowbirds! :goodvibes

Another week closer to our trip! :cool1:

I can't believe in one week from now I will be packing last minute things and printing out our boarding passes!! :woohoo:

Yes, I'm not going to get too concerned about the weather until we are closer. Those 15 and even 10 day forecasts are never right and they always change. Now if we get within a few days of leaving and it is calling for highs in the 50's, then I will start to panic! :scared1:

I totally agree! I am still keeping my fingers crossed that it will get back up to the low 70's during the daytime. I can handle wearing a sweatshirt at night, but would like the days to be sunny and warm. DD says that even if it is only in the 60's - she is wearing her shorts and flip-flops!

Yes, I can handle sweatshirts as night, but really don't want to have to wear them all day!
