Remmy - that sounds like a lot of work for a 9 yr old to do.

We are going to have a quiet day. Staying home and it will be just us, which is fine with me since I can't really stand my mother's side of the family.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Just back from dinner at my sister's about 1 hour away. Very nice and low key day. Now settling in for the night - D is doing homework (she took the train home from college in NY late Tuesday night and we are taking her back on Sunday). H has to work the early shift tomorrow AM, so he has to get up at 2:30 AM.:scared1: I am still trying to decide if I am going to do the early-bird shopping tomorrow or sleep in - right now I am leaning towards the latter.:rotfl:

We have decided to simplify Christmas/Hanukkah this year due to our upcoming trip to Disney. I have finally convinced H's sisters that we should draw names so that each adult only has to buy for one other person, and we still buy for the two kids (D and her 10 y/o cousin). One of the sisters always goes overboard for Hanukkah and I always feel like the cheapskate. But, putting a child through college is not easy, so we have to cut corners somewhere. My side of the family cut out the adults years ago - just the three girls get Christmas gifts. It works out so much better and it is just nice to be able to spend time with the family rather than stressing out about buying gifts.

This trip is a belated (by almost 2 years) HS graduation gift for D. We just couldn't get it together and find the time or $$ to go. My personal days just got approved yesterday (yeah!!) and our final payment is due on Monday. I am anxious to post this and see my countdown clicker now! D and I are going to try to finalize our dining plans on Saturday night. H has his 35th HS reunion, and I decided not to go as 1) I wouldn't know a soul there, and 2) it was very pricey. We are driving to CT on Saturday afternoon and will stay in a hotel nearby, so she and I will work on the Disney plans while he is out at the reunion. Then on Sunday, we only have a 1 1/2 hour drive to get her back to school instead of 3 1/2 hours. We will drop her off and turn around and do the drive back home. But, she will be back in 3 weeks for her Winter Break, which culminates with our trip to Disney right before her second semester begins. Can't wait!!:cheer2:

Wow! It sure is quiet on the Snowbird Front! Nothing like a major holiday to slow things down! :rotfl: I sincerely hope that all my warm weather bound snowbird pals had a super duper turkey day! Hope everyone is full and safe and happy! Enjoy the rest of your holiday! :thumbsup2

Wow Remmy that is one massive project for a 9 year old to handle! I could see something like that being assigned at the high school level but it seems a little advanced for 9. Is she really getting anything out of it? 9 is a little young to evaluate yourself like that. Has she really had that many events that have influenced her that much? I could see myself doing that now at 30 but certainly not at 9! :rolleyes1

I'm sorry to hear your frustrations with your TA- I would be frustrated too. Ours is due on the 10th but at least we've known that all along!

Happy Turkey Day Snowbirds!
May everyone have a wonderful day with their families and be thankful for all the wonderful blessings in our lives! And may everyone enjoy a yummy piece of pie!

I'm off to get the ingredients to make cranberry pumpkin bread- way last minute:eek: - hope I get it done in time!

Happy Thanksgiving, Snowbirds!
Wishing everyone a relaxing day with time to count their blessings. Safe travels to those going anywhere. :goodvibes

Remmy--wow! That is quite an assignment for a 9-year-old! I'm sure you will all be relieved once the presentation is over, and talking with the teacher sounds like a good idea. Best wishes to your daughter (and you!) :flower3: You're always welcome to vent here!

UNbelievable!! That is an outrageous assignment for a 9 year old! I have been a firm believer with my children that I should not be "involved" in their homework (except for occasional questions, etc.). I was always supportive but felt that they needed to learn independence. That assignment demands a huge parental involvement. Be firm when you talk with the teacher. Future children and their parents will thank you.

Awww Remmy! I remember some difficult projects when I was younger, but we never had to do any kind of self-reflection thing until we were in High School. That's kind of ridiculous.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with your TA as well.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Thank you very much for all of the support. You can see basically what time it is and I am almost done with her project. She has practiced her speech this evening with her grandparents. I am letting her decide on what to put on the title page. Then all that needs to be done is glue that to the project and we are done!:cool1: :cheer2: :cool1:

I also went and made the final payment for our vacation. We are officially going. No turning back now.:yay: I am so excited. I am a bit disappointed that they are working on the Backlot ride. I guess we shouldn't have expected to get away with so much being open. I was hoping though.

Could I please ask nicely for Monny2AE to post the recipe for the cranberry pumpkin bread?:flower3: I have never heard of it before but I would love to try it. It sounds very yummy!

I hope everyone that is/was celebrating Thanksgiving to have a wonderful day and weekend. I hope everyone is safe and surrounded by loved ones.:grouphug:

I might not be on much this weekend. I will be recuperating from DD's frustrating project.

Remmy

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone had a nice Turkey Day.

To those of you off to score some great deals - best of luck! Oh and please remember to not be crabby.....the workers aren't thrilled about being up early so the lovely disposition some shoppers have really doesn't help at all.:thumbsup2

Happy Friday!

Good Morning Snowbirds :goodvibes

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and if you off to the stores today, be careful out there.

The other day someone posted a link to a packing list, and now I can't find it....can someone repost please?

GOOD MORNING!! Hope everyone had a nice holiday! Quite slow around here the last two days. Guess we were all busy cleaning and cooking and spending time with family. We had a wonderful day but busy. Cooked in the morning then went to sis-in-law from 1-430, then to my grandparents (dad's side until about 10pm)! Long day but good! Got to spend some time with my aunt who is going thru treatments for breast cancer. She's lost her hair but looked gorgeous! And seemed to be in really good spirits!

Just got back from my first round of shopping! Wal-mart was crazier than I'd ever seen it. Stood in line for about 45 minutes. Got almost everything I went for. Now I'm gettng ready to get the kids up to take to my sis-in-laws. Her hubby's going to watch the boys while me and SIL are going to do more shopping. Only have a few hours and have to be back to cook some more and go to my moms mid-afternoon.

Hope everyone gets all the deals they are after today. And like another poster said, go with good spirits!! It will make the day more pleasant for everyone!! Talk to you all later!!

Good Morning Snowbirds!! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!! I got my GPS so I'm a happy girl!! Let's hope it can help me find Disney World!!! I'm going to go back out later today when things settle down and go clean up after people shopping LOL!!! I still need to get an ornament LOL!!

Okay Disney needs to be done with these refurbs!! Now The Backlot Tour...seriously...no more Disney!! The only park now left safe is Animal Kingdom (knock on wood)!!

Sh, you might jinx AK! :) That's too bad, I like the Backot Tour. My time at DHS is getting shorter! Hopefully the lines for the things I want to do won't be too bad. We see the shows mostly, and they take time.

We had a nice turkey day at my parents. Got home around 7 and we were all just beat. No stores today, but I did go on line and order DH's GPS from BestBuy. I got the same price plus used some rewards certificates! NO LINES! Yippee. That was the only thing we were looking to buy today anyway. As much as I love to shop, we aren't buying much this year. It's probably safer if I stay home. Going to get going on decorating today! :santa:

Hello All!! I had a wonderful day with my family yesterday-hope you all did too. I am a total crowd avoider, so I am safely at home, away from the crazy sales and shoppers!!!!! All you shopping girls--more power to you & I hope you get everything you wanted!!! Have a great Friday!!!! And remember--only 4 more weekends til Christmas!!

Good morning Snowbirds! :goodvibes

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone got some great deals this morning. I stayed in bed! There wasn't anything we really needed, so I didn't even go out. That's a first!
