Hi all! I want to wish you all a

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

I am very thankful that I have "met" all of you through this thread! It is so much fun to chat with you all about Disney, life, etc.
I am off to take the kids to sleep over at Grandma's and then going to dinner and Wicked, so I won't be around tonight. I hope everyone can find something special to be thankful for this year - for sure a WDW trip in the near future! Have a great day!
Blessings,

Happy Wednesday,

We are going to my aunt and uncle's tomorrow (it's a very short ride...around the block). We are bringing homemade apple pie, green bean casserole, corn, and brocoli cheese and rice.

Happy Thanksgiving SNOWBIRDS~
Hope everyone has a blessed day tomorrow~

I just changed my vacation days today, and it looks like I am going January 27-Feb 3 and staying at the Poly (wahoo!). Can I join in here :)

QOTD- We are going to my parents house tomorrow. It will be my mom and day, little sis, my DH, our DD and my FIL. My older sis and BIL will be joining us later for desset. My BIL is making pumpkin pie, my mom is making pumpkin cheesecake and chocolate pie and my little sis is making banana cream pie. Yummy! We're bringing nothing. My mom enjoys making everything. I know, I'm lucky!

Happy Thanksgiving Snowbirds!
I hope that you all have a great day with your friends and families. Stay safe (and warm for most of us) and enjoy the day.

QOTD: Tonight we're going to some friends to see DH BFF who lives in Houston and they only see each other maybe once a year (taking hot wings-I had to work today and didn't plan ahead last night). Tomorrow we've got my Sis-in-laws (mashed potatoes and rolls) and then my grandma's (dad's side, cool veggie pizza). Friday my moms (rolls and a veggie tray). UGH!!! I"m exhausted just thinking about it! :sad2:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING SNOWBIRDS!!

Sarah, that is gorgeous!!! I have never attempted one of those, I just sit an stare LOL

Did you get the PM I sent you yesterday?

Robin, I did... the longer I'm married to DH, the more I absorb his "inability to reply in a timely fashion"! :rotfl:

Wow, what crafty Snowbirds! Y'all are very talented! I enjoy cross stitching as well, but haven't done it in a loooong time. I started a Christmas stocking :santa: for DH many years ago and it's still not done...and since then I have had 3 kids who I also need to do stockings for... :rolleyes1

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen the Snowbirds this quiet in the middle of a weekday. Where is everybody? :bored:

I was wondering if there were any knitters out there, too... there must be! :) Since giant cross-stitch projects don't travel so well, I'm taking my knitting with me tomorrow. I think I'm going to tackle this: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter03/PATTcoronet.html

Anyway, I suspect everyone in the US is buckling down for the holiday. We got out of work early today (my boss isn't very good at this - every other department says "sure, go!" without charging us time... but this boss makes us use vacation to leave early, generally, but this time we all skipped lunch to leave an hour early. :confused3 ) and then I still had to wait for DH... but I wasn't by a computer!!

(I was picking up my new specs. Did you know it hurts to walk, still, from my surgery?)

We got home, made cranberry sauce, and now we need to pack. Assuming we stop arguing about whether or not we should make back-up plans for Friday, since we suspect that his parents will just want to sit and stare at their granddaughter all afternoon. The house really isn't big enough for 8 people and a wee one! (DH thinks we should "play it by ear" and I think we should have some idea of what we'd like to do!)

We're hitting the road at 7am Eastern tomorrow, which will get us to DH's aunt's house around 12-12:30 Central. We have to go to bed earlier than usual tonight! Some holiday! ;)

Good evening Snowbirds.

I just finished up my pumpkin pies and a low-fat pumpkin mousse for those of us on a diet.

I didn't want to turn in without wishing all of you fine folks a very Happy Thanksgiving.

QOTD: we are hosting tomorrow. My in-laws are coming for lunch tomorrow. My FIL's b-day is Sunday so we like to celebrate during the holiday. We also figure the my MIL has cooked so many turkeys over the years that she deserves to relax and we do all of the cooking.

Gobble gobble every one. Take care.

First of all I must say welcome to our newest Snowbirds!! HI!!!

Secondly...whew what a day LOL!! Christmas cards are made and done!!! I'm going to my best friend/Assoc. Pastor and his wife's house tomorrow. I'm bringing the fruit salad (just made), sweet potatoes for being candied (sweet potatoes have been boiled and our in the fridge being cooled), caramel corn (in the oven allowing the flavor to stick to the popcorn LOL), and a sausage platter which I bought LOL!!!!

Now I'm going to wait a bit to end to Wal-Mart going to buy a new vacuum!! Well I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

Want to come with me? We are going to my parents' house, about 15 minutes away. I am bringing wine and sweet potato casserole (which I could put in a pie shell it's so sweet!)
I would LOVE to come along. I am kind of bummed that my DH hunts and we aren't going anywhere. I went and bought a turkey breast and a 1/2 of pumpkin pie tonight. I have decide that my girls and I will go to church and then have a nice mini-Thanksgiving meal!

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this board but we're going to the World in January. Just wondering if any of you saw the new changes to the park schedules in January. I'm not happy with these changes. Some of them affect park hours by 3 hours!!! Does anyone know why they are changing the hours?

:cheer2: Welcome aboard! I'm wondering if you are another Wisconsinite..as your screen name is "Packer"Pam...are you a fellow cheesehead like myself? or a lover of Brett, Donald, Reggie and Leroy?

pixiedust: May all the Snowbirds have a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!

Good night all my little snowfriends!!!:goodvibes Well, I finished school today, got their first semester of school-work filed away and the school room cleaned!!!! Dh floored the attic for me( it was only partially done) and I got all the stuff back in there and it's all organized!!! YAY:cheer2: I love it!!!

Got my veggies and stuff all sliced up for tomorrow-sweet potatoes made for casserole and my turkey is ready to cook!!! Now, I just have to wind down for bed fold one more load of :laundy: . I have accomplished much today and am soooooo glad I am finished!!!

Well, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I am truly blessed to have met all of you and can't wait for some of us to meet in January!! I might not be back til Sat/Sun. Count your blessings and have a blessed and safe Holiday!!!

Hello Everyone,:goodvibes

I have spent the last few days helping my DD who is 9 with a massive school project. She had to come up with 8-10 events in her life that have influenced her into becoming the person she is today. To top it off we require pictures, and to include for each event date- world events, music, movies, fashions, anything that has influenced her. Luckily we only have to describe how the personal events has changed her and not all the others. Then we have to become creative (not one of my skills at all) and have it presented on 10 sheets but then glued back to back to make 5 sheets and put it all on there, then artfully find a way to bind it together, ribbon suggested. She is then has to present this and describe all to her class this Friday in a 5 minute speech. DD will be marked in 10 different categories out of 4 for each for each event. If this sounds confusing, just think of how it is for the children.:headache:

I asked her if she has seen a finished product to know what the general look should be or if the teacher shared any research websites or books. DD said no. I enlisted the help of my mom who is a teacher and she thought it was for those in high school. I am going to request an interview with the teacher after this assignment. We had a total of 2 weeks to do it. Unfortunate for us, the first week my DD lost her sheets then kept forgetting to ask for new ones. I think she was plain scared of this project.

My mom :lovestruc has come up with a template to use and we have followed the same design for each page. Tomorrow I am going to Staples to coil bind this project as I would think that would be much easier to present to her classmates compared to ribbon that may not flip in a timely manner. She becomes easily frustrated so I am trying to keep it as flaw free as possible. Lucky for her she has an excellent memory so her presentation should be a snap.

I am still up printing it all of as I type at my profession thus I can whip this off much faster than she could. I need DD practicing her speech. (She has gone to bed long ago, I didn't want you to think I had her up at this time of night still practicing a speech. :rotfl2: )

Sorry to be so frustrated but if you saw this project you would want to scream! I have been positive around my daughter so she doesn't see how lousy this project truly is. How many 9 year olds do you know that have done a self analysis to know how they have become the person they are now?

Sorry to vent but I must let it out where she won't see me do it.

Now onto my Travel Agent woes.

I have seen most of you now coming onto your 45 day mark and paying off your packages. :cool1: Good for you, and congratulations! To me that means I am finally on my way.

On my documents given to me by my Travel Agent, she put the final payment due date as 20 DEC 08. Lots of time.

Then I saw some of you with the magical :wizard: 45 day mark and emailed her. What a surprise when she emailed me back and said the real date is 9 DEC 08.:scared1:

I wasn't expecting it since she had given me the other date. To make things worse she told me if any of the payment is by check it needs to be done 10 days before the 9 DEC to reach Disney. I wanted to email back and ask if she looked at the date now. I work full time as does DH and finding time to do all this is going to be tight. I am not finding her services to be of that much use. Thus far I had to tell her of all new goings on.:sad2: If our package had not already been at a lower rate through CAA, I would have canceled and done the other deal some of you have received. I was hoping for my Christmas bonus to come before my final payment is due. Obviously that is not going to happen.:goodvibes

I am just can't wait until my DD's project is over, luckily all must be done and presented this Friday, and when our payment is paid, I will try to do it tomorrow then I can have most of my stress gone.:cheer2:

Again I am so sorry for this extra long venting.:upsidedow

I wish everyone a great Thanksgiving for those celebrating.:)

I hope everyone the best of health and well being for tomorrow (actually today).:flower3:

Remmy

Wow Remmy that is one massive project for a 9 year old to handle! I could see something like that being assigned at the high school level but it seems a little advanced for 9. Is she really getting anything out of it? 9 is a little young to evaluate yourself like that. Has she really had that many events that have influenced her that much? I could see myself doing that now at 30 but certainly not at 9! :rolleyes1

I'm sorry to hear your frustrations with your TA- I would be frustrated too. Ours is due on the 10th but at least we've known that all along!

Happy Turkey Day Snowbirds!
May everyone have a wonderful day with their families and be thankful for all the wonderful blessings in our lives! And may everyone enjoy a yummy piece of pie!

I'm off to get the ingredients to make cranberry pumpkin bread- way last minute:eek: - hope I get it done in time!

Happy Thanksgiving, Snowbirds!
Wishing everyone a relaxing day with time to count their blessings. Safe travels to those going anywhere. :goodvibes

Remmy--wow! That is quite an assignment for a 9-year-old! I'm sure you will all be relieved once the presentation is over, and talking with the teacher sounds like a good idea. Best wishes to your daughter (and you!) :flower3: You're always welcome to vent here!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I am very thankful for my Snowbird friends!

Enjoy your day!

Remmy

UNbelievable!! That is an outrageous assignment for a 9 year old! I have been a firm believer with my children that I should not be "involved" in their homework (except for occasional questions, etc.). I was always supportive but felt that they needed to learn independence. That assignment demands a huge parental involvement. Be firm when you talk with the teacher. Future children and their parents will thank you.

Awww Remmy! I remember some difficult projects when I was younger, but we never had to do any kind of self-reflection thing until we were in High School. That's kind of ridiculous.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with your TA as well.
