Nevermind! I'm an exception, because I bought my ticket before November 6th... in June actually.

My overactive planning paid off....

I tried to get my younger brother to let me use his leftover school printing credit to let me print out Disney stuff... He didn't go for that idea.:confused3

I wish I could let you use mine!! As a grad student..I have over 1000 pages I can print out and since I do a lot online I hardly use it!!!! Maybe I'll end up to the university to finish printing off things LOL!!!!

Did you already buy your airfare? If you purchased the fare prior to November 5th (I think) Delta will honor the policy of free first bag for your flight. Purchases after the announcement date will incur the fee.

Just thought you might want to know as I thought we were also going to be charged the fee, but because we bought our tickets prior to the announcement we won't have to pay. It doesn't sound like much until you start to consider $15x 4 (bags) x 2 (roundtrip) = $120!! Bleargh!

Yeah...it's only $15, and there's only 2 of us, so only $30, but that's a Counter Service meal for each of us, some snacks, or a souvenir.:teacher:
I take my Disney savings very seriously!

Also, because of the wishy washy weather, I'd much rather pack too much, than too little.

Hey everyone! It's a tough day here at work. One of our ministry assistants (in her 30's) lost her husband unexpectedly last night. He collapsed at work and they were unable to revive him. It is very quiet and somber around here today. I don't ever know how to act in these situations.

Hope everyone is having a great day.:)

Alright who mentioned comfy shoes? Now I'm looking at the mammoth crocs and I sooo want these!!!! Man I wish I had money to burn!:sad2:

Chiming in on the Crocs. LOVE THEM! Can't live without them! I was thinking of getting Mammoths, but then I decided - I'll just wear socks with my Cayman's and my Disney Beach Crocs. I have an outlet here, so I paid $15 for the Disney Beach for me, DD and DH - we'll all match. The Mammoth's are still expensive because they are in season.

I wear my Crocs all the time at home - they make my legs and feet feel better. I'd recommend them for sure. I have arthritis and Achilles tendonitis and if I didn't wear Crocs I'd probably have to rent a scooter.

I just got gas at Wawa for $1.93 about 15 minutes ago, Blue Bell , S/E Pa.

Wow - might be worth the drive for me! FYI - we used to live in Townline on Township Line Rd. from 96 to 99.

Oh that's terrible. I'm so sorry for your co-worker. She will be in our prayers.

Haha! Well I'll probably end up with about $7 at the end of the semester. Logan probably still has most of his, so I'll probably be able to print off quite a few pages between our leftover credit. Black and white is only 10 cents a page, but color is 75 cents a page, so I'll have to decide how much I want in color, and how much I can handle being black and white.
Even if I use half the credit for color, and half for black and white that's 70 pages black and white, and 10 color.... Besides, I'll probably be able to convince my brother to let me later on. He's just obstinate!
I just don't want to use all my own ink for Disney. It's expensive, and I figure I've already paid for the printing credit so I might as well maximize it during my final year, since I haven't being taking advantage of it as well as I could have been.

Good morning everyone.

I’m back to vent again about my poor DD (7 yo). Friday night, she played at her best friend’s house and was even invited to stay for dinner. She was also invited to go shopping with them the next day (or as she called it “hang out”) at the outlet mall. She was SO excited and couldn’t wait! It felt like a teenage thing to her, I’m sure.

Anyway, she got all dressed and ready to go, went over on Saturday morning and was informed they would NOT be going shopping and that she was NOT permitted to come back until after Christmas!! Why – because they played with a pen that they apparently were not supposed to.

Now, I am all for disciplining your children when they disobey, but does anyone else think this is incredibly harsh! I know the punishment is for DD’s friend (just turned 7), to reinforce, but I could NEVER do something that rough – especially around the holidays. These girls are best friends, and would really enjoy the next month together. I tried to call but their phone must be hooked up only for internet, since it just rings and then eventually goes to a long beep. I don’t want to confront her in person, as I know it’s her child and her choice.

My heart is breaking so much for DD right now. First, her grandmother won’t buy her the American Girl doll because of the “sticking out her tongue” thing, and now she’s banned from playing with her best friend for a month. I actually cried with her.

So, I have to work harder to entertain her now, which is okay, and don’t think I mind, it’s just that a lot of my entertaining is WORK – decorating, cookies, cleaning, you know what I mean.

I’m going to try and set up some play dates with some other friends from school. I was thinking of letting them mess up the kitchen and just do a batch of snicker doodles on their own (with my working the oven, of course).

I told her that we’ll still have a great Christmas and we have Disney to look forward to, so to try and not be so sad about losing her friend for a month.

Ah, the joys of motherhood!! :cloud9:

I have been printing a lot at work (shhh!) but can't do color stuff here. That's okay though. I usually print everything in b/w except the really cool maps! That's why I got the personalized maps of the parks - saves me ink and paper!

That is extreme punishment. Especially when it's not just on her own child, but yours too. Did this pen destroy something else valuable? Jeeez. I feel so bad for your DD. Maybe with time the other parents will ease up on the length of time of the punishment. Good luck.

Gosh! I know we don't know exactly what happened with the pen, but that sounds way harsh to me. Especially during the holidays. I would hate to know what happens when the child actually does something worth grounding over.

 Hugs to your sweet DD.

I asked her if they broke the pen, or something else. She said no, that they just used the pen. Apparently she claims the pen was in the friend's "bin" where she keeps her markers and pens, so the friend obviously had it in there from some other time.

Thanks for the kind words. I feel most sorry for the friend, unfortunately that extreme type of control usually ends up bad in the teenage years - drugs, drinking, wild behavior. I sincerely hope that doesn't happen here.

My daughter actually said to me. "Mommy, if we used one of your pens, would you be that mean to me?" I said no, and I do have some fave pens that she can't use, but we can't judge what her friend's Mom thinks is fair.

I think that's the hardest part - not criticizing the other Mom, because I don't want my DD to have any less respect for her authority.

Wow, that's really unfortunate. I think you handled explaining to your daughter really well. We are constantly having to explain how every family has their own rules, and some are different than ours. It's really tough on the kids when they just don't see what the big deal is though. I'm sure you want to just say - Yup, that mom is mean and crazy for punishing that way. It's hard to maintain restraint and you did very nicely with what you said.

I'm so sorry you're daughter has to deal with this and has to be seperated from her best friend!! I hope you will be able to have some sort of resolution or at least an explanation of what happened to the pen???

Either way I think you are handling it perfectly!!!!

Oh, Poor Lady! We will be praying for her. It is awkward, I know-I don't know how to act either. I guess I just don't want to say the wrong thing or act like it's a light matter.A friend of mine told me yesterday that an older man at their church had a wreck and died on the way to church yesterday. THEN the pastor's wife had to go the hospital where the wife is and tell her. YIKES!! I would NEVER want to have to do that!!

Sharadoc--your poor little girl. Bless her heart.Give her a hug for me!

And we are at 2 months today!!:cheer2:

Gas prices - we're at around $1.58 here (central Indiana).

Happy Monday all! I went to work as normal this morning, but heard on the news that there was a massive power failure near my office. But I couldn't get confirmation that my office was affected. Well, it was - no power at all. So they sent us all home. Now I'm back at home, and I'll be able to do a lot of things I had planned for after work, and some stuff I hadn't planned at all! :rotfl:It's so nice having a Monday off without it being charged against vacation!

How lucky for you! :lmao:

That's horrible. I agree, sometimes I don't know how to act in those situations. You don't want to say the wrong thing, but you want them to know you care.

I agree - my legs are completely different when I wear my crocs versus my sneakers.

Sharadoc - how awful for your DD. Even not knowing the exact circumstances, that seems like extremely harsh punishment for children their age. I can understand grounding a child from playing with their friends, but for over a month at that young age?:confused3

How awful. :sad1: What happened? Death is never easy, but when it comes as such a shock at such a young age, it's even worse...

I just saw the Crocs discussion! I'm wearing my Mammoths right now and hope to get another pair when we get to the US! I love them and practically live in them once the cooler weather hits, rendering our tile floors ice cold! I'm thinking they might be too hot for Disney when we get there. The kids will be taking their regular Crocs (the boys have Caymans as does GK and Maggie has Minnie Mary Janes) and wear them with socks if it's too cold. We also bought them brand new sneakers last week. We read that they should have relatively new shoes, but worn in some. I was going to wait until we got to the US, but I thought we might risk blisters at Disney if we waited until then. So, we bought them some Nike sneakers last week. We'll see what happens...

Footwear has been on my mind a lot lately in regards to Disney. I do not want anyone to have sore feet!:scared1:

OH, Soleil. That poor woman! :sad1: That is so sad! I think the best thing you can do in a situation like this is to pray as much as you can and just offer yourself to this person to help in anyway you can! I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

Anyway, she got all dressed and ready to go, went over on Saturday morning and was informed they would NOT be going shopping and that she was NOT permitted to come back until after Christmas!! Why – because they played with a pen that they apparently were not supposed to.

Wow! Your poor little girl! That does seem awfully harsh to me, but I think you are handling it really well! Hopefully the other mother will see the error of her ways and lighten up a little.

Well, snowbirds! Our gas up here is about .95 cents......a litre! For any of you who are unfamiliar with litres, it is 1 quarter the amount of a gallon! So essentially I am still paying waaaayyyyy more for gas than ALL of you! Whenever we go into the states or just do a border run we always leave just enough gas in the car to get us to the border and then we fill up at the gas station there! We live about 40 mins from the American border!

I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving Week! I wish that you will all have wonderful times with family and friends and enjoy all your wonderful food! Please don't OD on turkey! FYI - if you ever wondered why you get so sleepy after eating a Thanksgiving meal, it is because turkey has Triptiphan (sp?) in it! It is a naturally occuring drug that makes you sleepy! Gobble Gobble! :lmao:

Top it off with all that blood rushing from your head to your stomach to help you digest all of your food...makes for a very serious good nap time LOL!! We're not eating until 4ish so I need to make sure I get a lot of sleep the night before so I'm not zonking out on the couch before we even eat LOL!
