Gosh, I better thank God and knock wood that my kids don't have these bugs everyone's getting.

I appreciate the weather reports too! My DH is constantly looking at Orlando weather. It's always better than here, that's for sure.

We're expecting another snowstorm tonight. It seems to be on a pattern of every two or three days a storm comes through. This one is expected to go south of us and head toward Milwaukee - so a few of you need to beware - it's coming!!

That sounds a lot like our morning as well. He's sleeping now, thankfully. Does your DD have a temp, too? I hope this sneaks out of his system quickly! We've got a busy 3 weeks coming up!

I forgot to add . . . if anyone out there is currently holding the Worst Mother of the Year award, could you pass it my way? I took DS to the local potter store to make something fabulous for DH's grandparents. We were doing a bubbling technique in a bowl and DS wanted to do it. Not a big deal. Blow into a bowl full of paint, dish detergent and water through a straw. He knows not to drink the yucky, bubble/paint/water concoction. So, he's blowing bubbles and having a grand time when he accidentally slurps it through the straw. Fortunately for me, he hates all things that aren't water. He only EVER drinks water. He immediately spit it out and we cleaned him up. He was fine after that. Had dinner no problem. My first thought this morning when he got sick, was that I had poisoned him. I spent some time on the phone with the on call service and poison control. Fortunately they said nothing to worry about. Still made me feel terrible.

 These things happen! You are still a wonderful mother.

The local public schools here have already cancelled school for tomorrow due to the expected snowstorm. My school (a regional technical school)has announced an 11:00 dismissal - should be right in the height of the storm - LOL! But, we are tough - during the Blizzard of '78, this school (I was not teaching here at the time) did not dismiss early and some people were stranded here for 3 days!:scared1:

Good luck to everyone who is anticipating some bad weather......

DISNEY, TAKE US AWAY!!!!

That would be us!! Right now they are calling for 1/2 inch of ice, freezing rain, followed by 6-8 inches of snow. Looks like I won't be open tomorrow! Was supposed to be off Fri anyway. My part timer needs Sat off so she was gonna work Fri. since I will be (in the words of Crush) "going solo" for 13hours on Sat.

I'm now in the US!!!!!! Oi, the jet lag's been rough with the kids, and we came sick with a bad cold and mild stomach upset...but we're here and getting caught up on sleep and life!

It's great to be home!!!!!

Thought I'd pop on and let you know I'm now in the same time zone as most of you!:rotfl:

WELCOME BACK!!!! It's time to do some Carrie's back dancin' --

:dancer: :dancer: party: party: :dancer:

[I told disco Dale that he's only invited because it is such a special occasion]

Shelly- If you don't mind, I thought it would be fun to track the weather for January. I found a website that tracks the weather 15 days out, so January 1 is forecast today. I realize that it won't be very accurate at this time, but it's still fun to take a peek.

So here's the Daily :sunny:Soleil:sunny:Report:

January 1st
Day: High of 71, periods of rain. (Boo! )
Night: Low of 40, rain. (Double Boo!)

Ooohh, great idea about the weather...

Also I just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to all of you wonderful Snowbirds who are doing all the work in keeping us informed of all the different information! You all are so great! Thanks to you from me and all the other appreciative Birdies! :thumbsup2

Count me in on that, too -- I'm so excited to catch back up with you guys! I'll ask my travelin' peeps about the locker idea. Thank you for checking on that, Shelly -- and great idea about locker-hopping -- that was one thing I was concerned about - having to rent a locker every time we switched parks.

Closed schools because of the threat of bad weather? I thought that only happened way down here in Memphis -- the difference with y'all though, y'all will actually get the bad weather...with us, never happens when we think it will....

We're supposed to get 6-11" of snow (we'll see... still could end up with 3... or 14!) tomorrow. I promise you that the local schools will be closed. The U? Well, finals end today. The students go home, the faculty won't turn up... I'm not holding out hope that they'll close for us but it would be nice. Our need to be here when there are no students/faculty is somewhat limited anyway and then you throw in a snowstorm... I think only half the staff is planning on making it in and, oddly, we all live on the exact same bus route (though we all generally drive ;)). I'm going to pack a deck of cards for our work day.

Ha! I was about to chime in with the same thing! Craziness...

Of course, I'll have "weather" of a different kind tomorrow! My den remodel nightmare has a light at the end of the tunnel, but the sheetrock guys are coming to sand, so I'll have a dust storm in the house all day. Oh and they are coming at noon and my parents are coming to visit for Christmas at 6 p.m. Nightmare!!!:scared1:

As a veteran on drywall remodels may I make a suggestion? If at all possible take a couple of towels wet them thoroughly, roll them and lay them on either side of the door. This will help keep the flying dust from escaping into the rest of your house. The wetter the better. The wet works like a magnet & the towels help block in general.:)

Has anyone been keeping up with the DDP restaurant list? I just looked at it and Yak&Yeti is not included and there is hardly anything included at Epcot, either.:confused3

Welcome home Carrie!!! Glad you made it back safe and sound!

We are expected to get 4-8" of snow tonight into tomorrow afternoon. My GM told me to day that I'm now working 7-3:30 instead of 5-1:30. Oh well. He said he's doing that for the "safety" of his employees. I think he just wants to sleep in...:rotfl:

Soleil - I think the weather report idea is great! When we were there Jan. '08 our day at MK ( I can't remember the date...) it was basically a monsoon for about 20 minutes. Then it drizzled for about a half hour, and then the sun came out! But that was the only rain we got. Every day had a small chance but it was just the one day.

Hi, lots of folks from WI here! We are getting ready for the ice/snow too! My son was hoping that he could get out of school today in anticipation of the snow. He also tried saying he had a stomach ache. I think he is ready for a break. Tomorrow was going to be the last day of school before Christmas but I am betting on today being the last day. Everyone have gas for their snow blower????:woohoo:

Yup - kind of silly, isn't it? But, last year at this time we got hit with a totally unexpected snowstorm and the schools did not release early. In Providence, some elementary students were stranded on school buses until 9:00 at night. It was a big mess and some big political heads rolled - LOL!:rotfl2: .

Here in my city (in neighboring MA), most of our kids walk to school - very few are on bus routes as we have lots of neighborhood schools. So, I guess they are just trying to alleviate any potential problems. I am glad that my high school is going to try to put in at least a half day. That way, it will count for a full day and makes one less snow day to make up in June. I for one, HATE being in school any later in June than I have to be! Luckily, I only live a mile from work, so I have a short drive home. They are predicting 6" - 12" right now.

Of course!! Don't Disney movies cure everything LOL!!! Glad to hear she is feeling better Meghan!!!

Thanks! Disney is definately the cure all!

We did Tylenol almost 6 hours ago and he's just now getting warm and whiney. I probably pushed him too hard because I drug him to Walmart to get wrapping paper and some last minute stuff. He was in a great mood, came home and ate some McD's french fries, now we're watching Disney channel on my bed!

My little one is sleeping right now. After her Disney Princess movie, she decided to read some Christmas books in bed. After awhile, I could hear little snores coming from her room. She was out cold! So, then it was nap time for me. Even though she's been home all day, I got so much done! While she was watching movies, I was cleaning the house. Whenever someone is sick, I wipe everything done with clorox wipes. It just makes me feel better I guess. I also vacuumed the whole house and cleaned the upstairs bathroom. I wanted the germs GONE! By the time she wakes up, it will time for more tylenol.

Meghan~sounds like our little ones have the same bug. DS was miserable for some time this morning. I gave him some Children's Tylenol to make him comfortable, which stuck with him for only about 1/2 hour. Fortunately, it was long enough to take effect. He was up playing shortly after. He was even able to eat a banana, some fish crackers, a small peanut butter sandwich and some cheesy chex mix.

I think I'll dose him up again at 7:30 before bed.

Hope everyone expecting nasty weather tomorrow stays safe and warm. We are expecting a "wintery mix" tonight and tomorrow morning. Looks like we should be ok in our area though. I hate when we get weather like this when DH has a flight. Thankfully, tonight his his last one until after Disney :goodvibes

The snow is suppose to start flying around midnight until 9:00pm Friday night.

Welcome fellow cheesehead! What part of Wisconsin are you from? Yes, my DD's are hoping for a snow day tomorrow. I could also handle a day away from the inmates. I will be shampooing the carpets tomorrow or Saturday.

My DH (non disney lover) just got a letter in the mail yesterday...he got SUBPOENA'd for court on Jan 22...right in the middle of our vacation:scared1: . He called the DA today and he has to get an excuse (he is a witness to a crime)...This was the 1st time that he was remotely excited about going to Disney...

If I'm really ambitious, I may bake. I'm going to try to make truffles as cute little gifts for family. I'm looking to find my inner-Martha Stewart! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Be careful! I found my inner-Martha last week and that witch left me a terrible huge nasty mess and didn't even bother sending her any of her staff to clean up!:lmao:

Speaking of Martha Steward...my MIL ( I adore her) gave me this refrigerator magnet that says...Well, it could be worse...Martha Steward could be your Mother in Law LOL!!

My In-laws always pick out the cutest things for me...this year they sent me an ornament. It is a snowman holding a sign that says There's Nothing Like Going to Disney World LOL.

:rotfl2:

I didn't end up trying to be Martha today. I'll have to wait until Saturday. I did get the Santa gifts wrapped, but hubby had our Mickey wrapping paper we bought last weekend in his car, so I didn't get to wrap the stuff from us yet. At least I got a start on it...I don't feel quite so quite so overwhelmed!

Keaton took almost a three hr nap but woke up hot again! We ran out to pick up big brother at Grandmas house and picked up a gift for his teacher, and now we're back home. Drew's whiney probably because little brother's getting all the attn. Keaton's bouncing off the walls though! Hope it doesn't last long, I'm whooped. I hope I'm just really tired and not coming down with anything. Better dose myself up with Tylenol!!

Those are awesome!!
My own mother never has a clue what to get me. This year she asked (like usual) and I told her I wanted/needed scoops for my canisters because mine broke. How pathetic is that? You'd think after 40 (gulp) years, she'd know me well enough to pick out a decent gift.

On a better note - my girls had their little Christmas dance performances this afternoon - SUPER CUTE! So fun! So then we came home with my parents and ordered pizza. Then I got my dad to take a family picture of us (halfway decent - he can't seem to hold the camera straight!). I ran off to Target and ordered our Christmas cards. I'll have them in my hot little hands tomorrow (I'm too lazy to go back tonight!) and they'll be in the mail on Saturday!! :yay: People could actually get them before Christmas Eve!!
I also made some fudge, so I can take it in to school tomorrow with the other teacher gifts (bookstore gift cards and Clorox wipes!). I'm psyched I was able to get all that accomplished since 3:30! Now I have to go package the fudge all cute and put the gifts in a gift bag. I'm volunteering at school tomorrow morning so I want to get that all in with me. It's the last day before break.
Oh - I also typed up the "excuse my children please for two weeks b/c we're going to WDW" letters. I figure the sooner the better and they can't bug me about it during the two week break!

Good evening Snowbirds.

Can you believe it - One Week Until Christmas!!! :cool1: :santa: :cool1: :santa: One week until we can openly talk about the trip!! :yay: :yay:
