Thank you very much for the visual. I showed DH and that is one snack we won't be missing now.

Thanks for the info. I'll bring a wide variety! My whole family could live in swishy pants and tshirts, so I'll throw in a jacket or hoodie for everyone and we should be good! We may have to wear the same sweatshirt everyday, but I just hate to pack so many bulky items! (Or it would be a good excuse to buy Disney sweatshirts or jackets)! My oldest has a couple of pr of those cargo pants that the bottoms of the legs zip of to shorts. I think those will be ideal for him!!! Take them off as it warms up, zip bk on in the evening! I'm ready to start packing!! Hubby could weat shorts if it were 30 degrees outside!

Thats what we broght- + the jeans we wore on the plane-those swishy pants roll up and cram into small spaces in luggage nicely! And they don't weigh nearly as much as denim! But bring some shorts too--our last few days got warm!!

Where is the Goofy candy store? I can't remember? And what is the one in the by (or in) the Innoventions building at Epcot?

My family has a the house to clean, then tackle the back yard. All things have to go away as the snow is coming to us sometime next week.

Later on, I will be gathering up all the little notes I write on different scrap pieces of paper and transfer them to our Disney binder. So many things to do at Disney, but so little time.

I wish that every Snowbird will have a good day. I will check back later to see how you are all doing.

Well, WE DID IT!!
I talked to DH one more time, and we did some math (UGH) and decided we could swing it. Here's our new plan:

Arriving 1/26 - All driving together, canceled flights for DD and me. This might change to 1/25, but not sure.
Booked two standard rooms - one for us, one for MIL and SIL
at...

CARRIBEAN BEACH RESORT!!!
(the red is for you Shelly)

yup, we got the deal. We decided to book 6 nights and get the 7 day base tickets. We end up paying only a little over $1500 for the four of us!

Even cheaper than SOG! Now I have to rethink our plans, what to pack, all that jazz. I'm so excited!:cool1:
We also get the $200 GC! I was really concerned that they wouldn't have rooms available, but we could have gotten preferred or water view too. DH is happy that we can relax more and not be commando for three days. We can just hang, go to other resorts, shop...
 :yay: :cheer2: party: :cheer2: :cool1: :yay:
As for what to pack, we usually do whatever we can layer. We wear sweatshirts on the way down and I like to buy one at WDW. Jeans, shorts, capris, and t-shirts. We'll have jackets from the road trip too. Then because we have the cruise right after, we have to pack for that too. YIKES! Plus I have to be efficient and pack light so it all fits in the van. We are driving my SIL down and might pick up MIL on the way, so it could get crowded!!

Plus I read all the chat after I left for last night - oh boy.:surfweb:
I'm just so excited!
Love the pictures of the baptism Carrie!! So cool. I think you and the family will have fun at AS SPorts.
Love the snowbirds logo thing too!! I think the hummingbird's name from Pocahontas is Flit.

Okay, now I have to try to get my heart rate back down. I spent about 30 min on the phone with CRO and I'm all worked up! I had the nicest CM - she chuckled when I talked about DIS boards and all the excitement. She said she's got tomorrow off and is going to call all her friends and family so they can get in on it! I would have thought she would have done that by now!

My DH wanted to know if you could walk from CBR to Epcot. He says it looks close, but I think at WDW, lots of things look closer than they really are.

Have to go adjust my tickers now!

Hey Becca - Congratulations on your test! Your last line gave me the giggles...

Mindy- Definitely keep checking (and check yourself online). The availability seems to keep changing. I could do things today that didn't work earlier.
Good luck!

yeah... now I have to study though, and I'm not sure I even have the time this weekend.

You are right! You know, I mentioned to our kids that we'd be staying at All Star Sports and they flipped! They love the idea! Of course, it came packaged in my special Carrie package. I tend to be very, very excitable. :lmao: so, Pop has been forgotten and they are totally focussed on All Star Sports. So, I guess that's that. I checked out the pictures and it does look like fun. So, I'll just have to pretend I'm a sports fan for a week at Disney. I can do that.

Pictures of the baptism? I'll load some up to Photobucket and get back to you!

I'm glad your kids are excited!

Just make sure you securely store the zip offs. I had a pair of pants like that before, and lost a half a leg during my first outing.

I have to clean my whole apartment today. It needs it bad...

HI Snowbirds ~

I haven't posted in FOREVER........my, how we have grown!!

My TA just changed my ressie from ASMo to Port Orleans Riverside......a better room for less $$$. Yippee, January deals!! :cool1: I am soooo excited about the refrigerator & coffee pot!!!

Anyone stayed there? Please tell me you loved it!!

I enjoyed POR when we stayed there in 2007. You're going for the marathon, right? Better chance of seeing you, then... or waving in your general direction!

We stayed there in Jan 2008. Loved it!! The food court is great, there's beautiful grounds, the pool looked good - we didn't use it though. We were in a mansion building - very quiet. Boat ride to DTD is fun too. We wished we could have stayed longer, but we only had 2 days. You'll enjoy it.:)

Is it swimming weather in January? The pools are heated right? I was thinking of upgrading to a moderate (if it's still available-all this talk about CBR got me interested...) because of the slides-my 6 yr old would love that, but if its too cold to do much swimming, its not worth it! WHY CAN'T I JUST LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE!

Yeah, we'll have jeans and probably coats since we're driving in January-always worried we'll break down or something and need to warmth! If I have them I won't need them, if I don't...

:rotfl2: I bet that was a good look! :rotfl2:

I sure hope so, because I will finally have enough time to swim this trip!! Of course to people from cold states, it may feel like swimming weather and to southerners, it may not ;) KWIM? The pools are heated, so that would help.

I was picturing someone walking around like that... "lost half a leg" :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Even Thursday evening at 5:00 when the discount was first released my TA at Dreams Unlimited was trying to get space at the Poly. There was absolutely nothing from the beginning. We had to switch to Grand Floridian to get the deal. We are a little sad about not staying at the Poly but there's always another Disney trip.

Hope you have a fabulous time!

Susan

I guess we're back to slow weekends!

We finally nailed down our deal.:woohoo: We decided to keep our AP Discount (I'm not thrilled about running to a park as soon as we get there, but I'll survive, and maybe we can go to MGM to activate them, and get to see the Osbourne Lights!)

This is what we got:

9 nights AKL Standard Pool View (I would love to do Savannah, but just can't justify the cost-if we have lots of extra money on our registry when we get there, and they have availability, we might just have to upgrade!) $1508.67
Then Dining for $718.82

Our Package Total is $2230.70! (By my calculations, it's a savings of about $981! - even more if we order everything I've guessed we're ordering on the DP)
We still have to buy tickets, but we can use our registry to get the vouchers at the Earport in Orlando, or we can get a discounted rate through the Military. (I don't think we'd be able to use our Registry though) Then, go activate them when we get to the World.

Yes, the pools are heated. The pool at CBR has been updated. The slide was really for younger children when we stayed there in 2007. It was very small. I know, I went down it. :rotfl: CBR is a lovely resort, I would stay there again, but I have this thing that I want to stay at all the resorts. :cutie:

Hi Snowbirds, what a nasty day here today in PA. I saw 81 in the sunshine state. Must be nice. We had a birthday party here today for my great neice. She is too cute and two. :cutie: So I am resting before vaccuming again. Why do we clean before a party?
Maggied as always your pictures rock. I one day with have to do the tea party, it looks like fun.
Do we have a snowbird meet going yet? I am so lost with all of the pages. I mostly right down what page I read last on a sticky pad, to keep up.

It has been a slow day on this thread! I was home today, scrapbooking and watching Princess Diaries 2 with DD5 while DD7 was bowling. I kept checking, and no one was posting. Busy Saturday I guess. It was miserable today here too. Snow flying, wind, cold...I stayed in all day and tonight I'm going to hang with the neighbor women. It's the opening weekend of deer hunting here and they are having a "hunters' widows" get together. My DH doesn't hunt, so he's staying here with the girls. Should be fun, we play games, like this Mexican Train Dominoes thing, drink, eat and gab!

We'll have to get going again tomorrow - maybe there will be more people around.

I agree with not paying extra for the savannah view btw. We decided to save our $ on views and preferred and spend it on food!!! We were considering AKL, and went with CBR. Maybe AKL next time!

Good photo thread for January;

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2002282

Someone asked about pictures during a january trip. They are a good indicator of clothing and crowd levels. (Of course, we're not busy tonight and this will probably totally get lost and/or ignored by the time everyone checks back in :rotfl: )

I hope all the Snowbirds had a great day.

Mine was ok.

First, I had a phone call from work stating they were closing the place down due to a co-worker's attitude. She is new and I think she has a bad attitude too but management has not listened to me or my other co-workers. Short of the story, all levels of management was called on this incident and they wanted to send her home and me to come in. I said no. I am not coming in on my Saturday off, especially since I worked the last one. I sometimes thinks this co-worker becomes difficult just to get sent home.

Second, all my cleaning plans went out the window, when DH went out for karate but only one other person showed up and he came back home early. He wasn't in the cleaning mood so nothing got done.

Oh well, there is always tonight. Woo hoo for me.

I went to Wal-mart to take a look. It was packed! This is why I try to have all my Christmas shopping done by now. We went in looking for polar fleece sheets but didn't get there due to the crowds.

I have a question for all of you Snowbirds who have gone to Disney recently. Our DS loves Cars. Is there much of the Cars merchandise for sale there? Is it mostly at DHS? We cannot find all of them and we keep telling him wait until we go, there should be tons. Now I am worried that Cars may not be that popular and the selection small.

Thanks, Remmy

Here are a few pictures from the baptism in the Jordan River yesterday. It was a great experience, though the location is kind of set up like a tourist trap!:headache:

My Scot is on the right of the pictures in the water. The other picture was the time when the people being baptized were able to share their faith journey. It shows a bit more of the River in the background.

I made them clickable thumbnails because the pictures were huge.:rolleyes1

I would think that would be such a unique and wonderful experience. Thank you for sharing the photos with us.
