OMG I just got off the phone with the most wonderful CM ever (Bogart was his name). I was trying to apply my AAA discount and I mentioned that as soon as I got to Disney I would be upgrading to the Florida Seasonal Pass (I have already bought my 4-day pass, but I need 7 days and it just makes sense at that point to get the Annual pass so I can go back free later in the year)...anyways I'm totally rambling...

He was like well let's try to apply the AP code to your reservation instead. I then told him I was under the impression that since my dates weren't included I couldn't get the AP rate. Well he did something magical and a balance of $587.25 became a balance of $364.50 (not including the deposit I put down) I just saved 220.00 on my resort!! YAY YAY YAY YAY!!

Okay I promise to calm down now..I apologize for the franticness of my posts earlier!! I can tend to be on the dramatic side...so I'm sorry to any of you that I bothered!

Yea! Congrats!! I wouldn't worry about your franticness! You managed to find a great deal so it was worth it! I hope everyone can save money so we can enjoy our trips even more!!!

Thanks guys for all of the info on rates.

We don't have any place to stay yet on 1/8-1/10 so I am looking at prices. $144 for Wilderness Lodge looks really good. I love that place. I may have to book it.

For someone who asked, you don't need your annual pass to book a room with the annual pass rate. You just need to show it at check in with ID.

Okay I want to share this with you guys about the dates. The dates they give apply to the rate they have posted, however it doesn't mean a discounted rate isn't available for the dates not listed. When I was talking to Bogart I mentioned that the $49.00 rate was only from 1/2-1/15 and 1/19-2/12, he told me that was correct. However after entering into his computer he informed me that over the holiday the rate for AP was lowered to only $59.00 a night. So while I thought that I couldn't get a rate at all, that is not true. SO those of you who like me are going over to MLK don't get all worried (like I was) as it turns out you can still apply the code and get a really good deal.

I went ahead and applied for the Disney Visa. If I am going to be going more than once this year it might come in handy later. I'm pretty sure you can't stack discounts.

Also we did look at upgrading to the moderates but almost all of them were booked for my time period so I'm going to stay where I am. Next trip in December (I'm thinking of booking while I'm there) I am going to stay at a moderate.

I've also been told that if you will be upgrading to an AP, you can check in, go to the park to upgrade and then show it later at your hotel, just tell them you are doing that. If you don't upgrade they will bill you the difference.

It's always different. Sometimes the deluxe aren't discounted or the value aren't, sometimes only certain resorts in each level are discounted. There is really no way to tell untill it comes out! During off-peak seasons they have discounted rooms 40%. The most common discount I've seen was for like 15%There are only a few rooms that can be booked at the discount rate, and that to is different each time. So they might release a code, but only 200 rooms at one hotel can be booked at that rate before the code sells out. It doesn't matter where you are booked now, just call right away and tell them to apply the code to you. Then your ressie will be one of the alloted discounted rooms!

Even though I've been 5 times, I never really knew about this until recently (the last year or so) when I started seeing postcards and special offers in the mail. Most of the time I couldn't use them or we stayed at SOG so it didn't matter. But this time, I'm doing the math and deciding what is a better deal! I will be happy either way if I can get in at CBR with a deal and maybe dining or stay at SOG.
I'm SO glad I joined the snowbirds!!

Just FYI, even if you haven't got a pin code email or postcard, give them a call and ask to check if there is a code attached to your name. Especially if you've been in the past and booked through Disney. I had a code attached to my name last year and didn't even know about it! It was for 40% off too

This is absolutely true! When I called about the AP rates, which weren't of much use to me, I asked if there was a PIN in my name. Turns out one was sent in July in my household's name but it expires on 12/23. But maybe that means I might get one again!!!

I don't mean to sound rude, but I have no desire to eat at EOAS. Quizno's grosses me out and I imagine that it would be like that.

There's nothing rude about it - if you don't like it, you don't like it! That's why there's 8 bazillion choices.

OK, now I have a dilemma. The AP rate doesn't help me with CSR, where I'm booked now, or with CBR. But it would at POR. I haven't really considered it before - can someone tell me about POR? It's for my adult D and myself (H doesn't like Disney so he's staying home).

I've always wanted to stay at either CBR or CSR; the theming at POR didn't really turn me on. And since July, I've been reading only about these other two! Any info anyone can give me (or a link to the POR thread) would really help!

I stayed in POR last February, at the start of the cheerleading competition weekend. The parks were slow - my friend and I were able to see everything we wanted in 3 days at all four parks. Future trips we'll get to more shows, but we were able to hit all the rides.

That said: we never EVER EVER had trouble with the busses. EVER. No lines, no waiting. No bus was ever to full to not stop, no wait was too long. That said, we were generally impatient and found we liked it better to walk to the front of the resort to catch the bus to wherever we wanted to go.

Your mileage will vary, of course, but I didn't hesitate to rebook at POR with my DH for this January. When we're rich (ha! how's that for vague?!), we'll stay in either a monorail resort OR an Epcot one, but for now, yeah, POR works. (of course, on non-marathon years, I'll probably try more resorts of moderate and value types - I'd totally go for the cheap, but DH wants to be near the race and my friend is a snob about life )

Yes, the Snowbirds are quite chatty. Reminds you of the MAYers in the old days, doesn't it??? I can't believe we are going to miss each other by a few weeks this time. That is such a bummer. Hey maybe I should dig out the picture of when we met at Chef Mickey's in May and post it here!
