January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part III !!!

I just spoke to my d, who had no idea any of this agonizing was going on. She told me how excited she was, and had just had a dream about the trip. Then she says, "I know it's way too soon to get excited!" Little does she know what goes on here!

Anyway, I reminded her that the vacation's less than 2 months away. Then she gets really excited! I could hear her practically jump through the phone!

So even though the trip wasn't a surprise, it was kind of a surprise! Gotta love that kid!

I would like to try a citrus whip. It is like a dole whip but orange. I have read about them but have forgotten where you can get them in MK.

For the whole family our snack of choice is the turkey leg. We had so much fun out of just one on the last trip. Now that my little ones are a bit bigger I don't think they will share as nicely with DH. DH thinks he should get his own. I said we will all share 2. Those things are huge!!

Question:

When I was small my grandma came back from Disney with a cup in the shape of an orange. My DH remembers them too (lucky him, he went when he was small) and thinks they were served near the Tiki room. Does anyone remember what drink was in them?

For those of you with AAA, there could be something coming up in a little while.

My TA emailed me stating that she thinks free dining may be coming out soon. She is leaving on vacation next mid-week for 8 days and gave me another TA's email address and her our file just in case. I thought that spoke volumes on the validity of it. Please don't think I am trying to get anyone excited, I just thought I would pass on what she has told me. Again, this is what she thinks and not set in stone, or even a true offer as of yet. I am hoping for this offer as this will save our family $$$. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Once again I am happy for everyone that we are all going to Disney in this difficult economical time. I like what someone had stated earlier. It is the memories created that is the most important part of the trip.

PS I also like all the photos.

Seriously, I don't think my TA will even entertain calls from me if a free dining offer were to come up. . After the hard time I gave her today, she might never talk to me again! First off, I called her several times, made a surprise visit to the AAA and THEN I went on to call another AAA office to see if she was just being stupid and another TA could get the deal for me. Unfortunately, I left a voice mail for the other TA and instead of calling me . . . she called my ninny of a TA and told on me

I think my AAA days are over . . . I hope she doesn't screw up my reservations now I know better than to burn my bridges. I did swallow my pride and call to apologize. I hope it's not too little too late.

I am officially mourning the loss of the HUGE DISCOUNT CODE By the time that my TA got to it this morning, there were no rooms at the Poly available. Looks like I will be sticking with my current ressie with only the AAA discount.

No $200 gift card for us.

Aww - me too. I think they should give us the gift card anyway. We're paying MORE for our trip than the ones getting the discount!

Carrie- I'm sure you'll love AS Sports (Soleil it took me a while to get what you said about the abbreviation ) After all any place at Disney is going to be magical especially since you're with your family!

Carrie - Sorry you didn't get the resort you were hoping for. The AllStars aren't bad...until this trip we've always stayed at Movies.

I hope you guys don't mind, since I know I"m not one of the "leaders" here, but I've been lurking on the DISigns board for a while and today I asked if anyone would like to design some sort of Snowbirds logo for us. I asked for something to print out like a tag, or could use to make a T-shirt if we wanted to do a meet and wear it. Anyway, if something comes up, I'll pass it along. Use it or not - up to you!

Though, I think it'd be extra fun to have Bird Call whistles, so if we think we see another Snowbird, we can just Bird Call them... though I think we'd probably have other non-Snowbird people turn around.

I think too many times we get so focused on making "The Perfect Trip". However it's not the resort or adr's that make "The Perfect Trip", it's the laughter between family members, it's the little inside jokes and stories that are created and shared for months and years later.

To all my fellow snowbirds, due to the great package that is now available I switched from BCV to the GF CL the only problem is that we had to move our dates to the end of April to get availability and to avoid the crowds during PEAK Season...... so it saddens me to say farewell to all of the January Snowbirds now I must go find another thread Hope you all have a great time in January!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check in with us!! We are going to miss you! But, I am glad you managed to get a savings!!! You'll enjoy it then knowing how much you saved!!We went in May one year and it's really beautiful!!!

Carrie- we have stayed at the All Star Music. I really liked it, but with 3 kids, Mike didn't want to do the family suite.I don't know why not- but me and the kids really want to try it next time. It was really fun over there for us.I think he didn't like the doors opening to the outside, but I thought it was great. Especially with the price being so good. You are going to have a good time. You can always call back next week and see if anything changes. You are not stuck with this-unless you just don't want to fool with it anymore~! I know at this point I am just wanting to do a final payment and get all my docs in the mail!!!

did you have any pics of the Jordan from today you can show us? I would looooove to see that!!

What a great idea! I saved the image, I'll just have to think of what I am going to do with it. All the DISigners are so great I have so much stuff to do before our trip! Now I'll have time since I am not looking for codes every second of the day

Wow!!!! I can't believe all the pages for today...that will teach me to stay busy all day and not check in....

I do want to say Congrats to everyone that saved money. Last night it looked like we were going to have to switch to POR, but today my AAA agent go me the discount at the CSR where we already had a reservation. Waterview room and saved almost 400 plus the gift card
