I asked my D where she wanted to go for her college break in January - London? Caribbean? Cruise? Grand Canyon? Guess where she chose? So you probably will get a lot more years than you think!



MaggieD (and here I thought your name was Maggie! ) thanks for the update. Hope the injury heals quickly - sometimes these types can take longer to heal than breaks do, and there's less that the doctors can do for them.

That's okay.... nope I am Wendy,, DH is Tim, DD is Maggie and DS is Daniel...... DD is not to happy with us that she will not be with us on this trip.... the trip is for DS 16th birthday and she will already be back at college... I don't mind him missing a couple of days of school as he is a great student... but not a week... he is a sophomore and is taking all honors classess.... he has the last week of January off school so thats when we are going....plus his birthday is that week....

Both my kids love to go to Disney.... actually DD wants to get married there... when the time comes... so I am lucky that Disney is their choice of vacation... when DD turned 16 the two of us went to France for 10 days... it was wonderful.... DS wanted to go to Disney for his 16th so he could play golf....

Oh boy guys....This has been one of those days you wonder why you got out of bed. Is it a full moon? Is there something in the water? I have had 6 straight classes. I have had temper tantrums, fights, swearing, and sexual suggestions. Have I told you guys I teach computers to K1-5th graders? I need a drink, or a valium or a big huge enormous sedative! PLEASE?!?!?!? I had to actually get in the middle of two kids taking separate temper tantrums so they wouldn't hurt themselves! I have to work this weekend, I worked last weekend, and I need a day off!!!!! Ok, griping and whining...someone get me cheese for my whine! Even my 82 day countdown isn't making me happy!!! Oh and my worse class of the day is coming next...and they are only 1st graders!

QOTD: I think the thing I am looking forward to, is that this is actually our first "family" vacation since our first trip to Disney in 1992. We've been there since but we've had other people along and any place else we went we also had others along. So this time, it's us, just the 5 of us . That being said, 2 days into the trip we will be ready to rip each others heads off!

My sister and I talked about making shirts that say "Our Family Vacation....But Why is the Rum Gone?" Yeah, I'll probably need a lot of that at the end of each day!

Anyway, it's rainy and icky here and all I want to do is curl up with some hot chocolate and a book or good movie. However, we are going out to lunch...Olive Garden!!

From one teacher to another...take a deep breath...take another one LOL, the day is almost over..and its Friday! (I'm sorry you have to work tomorrow EWWW)! As we both know when it rains it pours in our classroom. Just get through today, hopefully on Monday they will have gotten over whatever bug they have LOL and remember how to act in the computer room!!

QOTD- I'm loving foward to getting out of Buffalo for a week and spending time with my DH and DD. We haven't taken a big vacation like this with just the three of us, so it's going to be great. I also can't wait to surprise my little princess. She's going to flip out!

This morning did not go so well with pictures. My DD did great, the photographer did not. It was a trainee and he cut off the top of my DD's hair in almost EVERY picture. I was not happy so I didn't purchase any pictures. Well, now we're going back at 3pm and I requested someone else. Why do they make children do so many goofy poses?? Just let them sit there and flash their gorgeous little smiles! I won't continue my rant. I already vented to my DH over the phone and feel much better.

Hi all - just back from having coffee with some of the moms from DD5's preschool last year. It was fun to see everyone again! Then I was volunteering in DD7's class with helping read with the kids. Also fun!
Now that I've gotten caught up reading ALL the posts:

Northern Disney Girl - so sorry about your cat. Just this a.m. DD7 hollered down. "MOM - there's a tragedy!!" I ran up to find her Betta fish lying on the side of the bowl with gunk. (You don't want more detail than that) He was not moving. DD7 was horrified and crying. She had lost a Betta before, but it was right after we got a dog, and she'd had that betta for almost a year. This one she'd only had a month or so. Well, she made it okay to school and we are planning a service for him later this afternoon. So I grieve with you.

Wendy - glad your DD is going to be okay. I'm sure you're relieved it wasn't broken or required surgery.

Meghan - bummer about the pictures - we have had both good and bad at school and private ones. You never know. Last year DD7's school picture was absolutely perfect except she was not centered in the photo. Jeez. I kept them anyway.

Well, even though it's cold and damp here, I'm going to the garden center to buy some bulbs. Hopefully I'll get them in the ground tomorrow.

Getting out of MN for a week and not cooking is all I need!! I am also really looking forward to trying two new restaraunts - Mama Melrose and LeCellier. Something different from the last few visits!

Off topic but....

I was planning to go to my cousins wedding in Austin Texas May 9th. My sister and I were thinking about going together and leaving our hubby's home with the kids. (she can't leaver her 4 year old with anyone else bc he has diabetes and is on an insulin pump).

Anyway...I was looking at the calendar and it is Mother's Day weekend. I don't know if I should ditch the wedding all together or if I should try to come home early on Sunday. It is a pretty long flight from Texas to Jersey. I don't know what to do. I had already told the bride and groom that we are planning to come.

Ouch... sometimes I wonder what people were thinking when they choose their wedding date, course I guess we'll see how many people are around for mine.
Mother's Day is really your day, and your Mother's. Instead of changing your plans either change your RSVP for the wedding, or don't rush back. It won't make the day very pleasant for you. You don't have to celebrate Mother's Day on the actual date. You can postpone it to the next weekend, or the next day, or whatever you want. The day was made for Mothers, not Mothers made for the day.

Ahhh...Becca I know that feeling!! Being a college student, army wife, it can be crazy, but you'll find time no worries. Just one day at a time!! I just finished my masters and finally feel like I can breathe. Now we are considering starting a family LOL...everytime I see pics of all of the snowbirds children I feel a tug on my heart!! You guys have some great kids!!

I feel so bad for him this week, because he's been so busy. He has an ROTC event this weekend (Ranger Challenge) and he's in charge. We both have a test on Monday, and because his week has been so crazy and he won't have time this weekend, I have no idea how he's going to study. In addition, I'm pretty sure he hasn't done any of the reading. I'm really worried about how his grade is going to be. I think I'm going to study really hard and make some good note cards for him to use, so he can look at them on Sunday night or Monday morning. We're in the same class... sometimes it seems like the only time we get to see each other is during class.

Oooh tough one. I think I'm most looking forward to not being in Michigan for a week in January! (can you blame me - it's cold or snow or cold AND snowy!)

I'm also looking forward to most of a week with my DH and hopefully I can convince him to leave his WORK iPhone in the room most of the time. Any time there's a free moment, he whips the phone out and checks his work email, his play email, scores of sports teams, plays Solitare. It's kind of frustrating! But perhaps we'll have a real talk about it instead of me just doing the foot stamp and "put that thing away!"

(...it's a good thing this is a pretty innocently-minded group! )

Definitely make him leave it in the room... I don't remember if you have kids, but the only reason I can see for him taking it with him would be entertaining little ones during long waits.

Unfortunately, you can't use the birthday gift card for food. If only!

You know what... I think I read that somewhere, but I think I decided to not remember that information. They're free birthday admission scheme is really brilliant. They get you in the parks... and don't give you anything that will REALLy lower your costs

To all you teachers out there: You are worth your weight in gold!!! I know I wouldn't have had the patience to be a teacher - I deal with numbers and contracts instead (although, I don't know, some of the individuals I work with may be worse than kids! ). Anyway, I know you deal with some tough stuff and I just want you to know I appreciate you.

DS's party and parade were very cute. The high school marching band came out and lead them around the block and then came back and put on a little performance for them. Very cute. Very cold, but cute!
