Ok, this is why I'm so excited! The UPS man dropped off a Disney box to my front door. Off course, my DD saw it and wanted to know who it was for. I said it was for me, but I didn't know what it was (yeah right!). So, I locked myself in my room and took some pics!

Shirts and a hoodie for me!

That's why the UPS man made my day! Well, I thought I'd post a few more Disney purchases too!

Here is a pic of the matching tank tops I bought for myself and my DD (I love Target!)

And this is the sling back pack I bought for the parks (again, Target!)

I'm one happy Disney-loving chick right now! Don't worry, my back pack with have a LGMH on it before I leave on my trip!

looks great :thumbsup2 Did you order everything from Target?

Hi Snowbirds... not much time to talk... DD was hurt at college today and is sitting in the emergency room.... looks like some damage to her leg... not sure if it is broken or what.... so I am waiting for DH to get home so we can go get her.... luckily she is only 45 minutes away..... she is a tough kid... doesn't sound to upset... very mature.... but thank goodness still wants her Mom.... I am sure I will have many pages to catch up on when I get back.... have good afternoon Snowbirds!!!

Hope She is all right! :goodvibes Please get us an update as soon as you can! We are thinking of and praying for you and your daughter! :grouphug:

I just got 2 amazing e-mails and I am praising God for both! First of all, my parents split last August, 2007. There were lots of issues, but during this time of separation, Dad found someone else. It's been a really rough year on so many levels. We didn't tell the kids about my parents because we needed a better understanding about what the situation would be like when we hit the US this December and my kids are so young and we're so far away.

I never stopped praying or believing that God would intervene. Well, I just got an e-mail from my dad. He and my mom are in counseling and taking the necessary steps to reconcile!:cloud9: I know lots of people wrote their marriage off, but I did not. It's a long road ahead of them...but it really does seem like things are going to have a happy ending!

Oh Peaches! That is so wonderful! :yay: What an amazing story! Thanks be to OUR LORD! What a miracle! My own parents had some trouble last year and were separated for a few months and managed to work things out! I have never prayed so hard in my life! :thumbsup2 Keep praying - they still have a long road ahead of them! :goodvibes Great news about the timeshare also - have a great time! :)

Okay, I'm off to make an early dinner and take DS to his last soccer practice. Tomorrow are class parties for Halloween. Saturday is trick or treating. Sunday is Church and the kids last soccer games of the season. Busy Busy!! :yay:

Wow! BUSY! Perhaps I missed this conversation before but...Why exactly are you doing Halloween a week early? :confused3

Hey Everyone!!!!

Maggied, I hope everything turns out of for your DD :grouphug:

Peaches, What fantastic news! My parents are also counseling now to avoid a split so I know exactly how you feel. I'll be sure to say a prayer for them too!
And what fantastic news about that timeshare! I hope you get to visit!!! London trumps NYC as my favorite city, but it is still so amazing. I'm fortunate enough to have a corner office on the 16th floor with huge windows overlook central park and the upper east side, and I am always amazed at how pretty this city it. Even if I have to pay $10 for a salad at luch time :scared1:

I have a question for all you WDW experts...

When we are in the world it is going to be "What will you Celebrate?" back in 1997?? they had the Cake Castle...do you think they bring it back for this celebration? Here is a picture I found..

castle8.jpg

I would be really sad if they did that...this is my first trip to the world and I really think the castle should be left the way it is.

Well now I am one of the few people who though it looked really cool. (I was like 11, and I loved pink!) But they did that for the 25th, this is more of a promo than a celebration, so we shouldn't see and decorated park icons. Unless they turn that awful hat into a giant party hat  I really don't like that thing.

Help! I can't stop second-guessing myself! :scared:

Lately I've been thinking about trying to rent DVC points. Have any of you ever done this? The thought of a one-bedroom villa is lovely. Putting the kids to bed and not having to be dark and quiet ourselves! :thumbsup2 It wouldn't cost that much more than SOG. On the other hand, we always stay in one hotel room together and it's no big deal...and I'm sure we'll be ready to hit the hay when the kids do anyway! Any words of wisdom for me? :confused3

This is the first time I'm renting DVC points and I already LOVE it. Before I rented from someone (off dis) I've stayed with DVC members. With the exception of Beach Club, most of the studios are larger than the standard rooms. For me, I am paying less than $100 more to stay at a deluxe resort than it would have cost me to stay at POP, so yeah, I think its waaaaaay worth it. Room size doesn't bother me since I'm almost never in the room and as a rule, I don't cook on vacation so the kitchen isn't a big must have, but I really love the whole deluxe experience. So now for only a little bit more, I get to stay in a deluxe resort. If your considering renting for Jan, right now the only thing open is SSR though. I'm a little worried about the buses which have gotten mixed reviews, but the place looks so pretty!

Be very proud!! Good for you!

Meghan - those shirts are so cute!! I almost ordered the pink one too. Great Disney minds think alike! I love all the Tink stuff. Man, the shopping never ends! I love it!

I was just talking to someone who rented DVC points last year and this year. She said it was great! I'd be interested in trying that out sometime just for the chance to stay somewhere deluxe/villa without the huge bill. We have contemplated joining DVC over the years - probably should have done it 10 years ago. But never had the money to get in. Still don't now, but we manage these trips pretty often. :) I keep saying that if MIL can't get us into SOG sometime, we want to try all the fancy resorts! Maybe if I see a really great room code that would be the time. Now that I know to look for those kind of deals! Thanks DIS.

I also wonder why you're trick or treating this weekend Shelly? Especially with Halloween on a Friday this year! We've got a busy enough weekend without that being changed to this weekend! Brownies, two parties, DH working both jobs. Might not have time to clean. Oh darn.

Maggie, I hope she's OK! That's the only thing I hate about my DD's school - it's 6 hours away! She's had strep and other illnesses  , and I haven't been able to be there. :guilty: It's tough.

Here's hoping that your d's injury is easily healed!

Awww..that is so awesome!!! I also remembered that for my Dual Enrollment class (11 students !!) we are throwing a birthday party for one of the students the Friday I get back. So I'm thinking I might try to find some Disney treats that will be okay for a day or two and give them out that day. Any suggestions???

I've heard about the Mickey Head rice crispy treats... those might be fun.

That's kind of what I think - a little jerky, but not bad. Nothing like Space Mtn, that thing is so rough I lose my breath sometimes.

That's exactly what I was thinking...

Has anyone done the kid's passports in Epcot? A friend of mine did and her kids thought it was pretty cool. I guess you buy the kit for about $12 and get stickers and go around to the countries and they stamp it and write in it. They went in December and CMs wrote in their native language their holiday greetings! how cute is that? Also goes to the educational aspects!! ;)

I've heard that they'll stamp anything, so if you don't want to spend the money on the passport kit, you could probably make up your own for cheaper, or incorporate it into an Autograph book.

Love the photos--thanks, Shelly! I'll show my boys the light saber ones and they will be so excited! :yay:

When they announced the "What will you celebrate?" promotion, I told my family about the gift card I was going to get on my birthday (we already have park tickets). DS8 (who likes everything to be fair) wanted to know if we were going to split that five ways :teacher: , or if the baby would get a smaller share since she's so little! :rotfl:

I thought you could also get the potato head parts at the store in Toontown where you wait to see the characters. I thought I remembered seeing them there...but that was nearly five years ago... :confused3 You do NOT have to buy the potato head there--if you already have one, you can fit that many more parts into your box! :thumbsup2

I'd also like to get a sweatshirt and a Christmas tree ornament! I need to start writing this stuff down. :upsidedow

Haha... for our Family Trip in May/June we're trying to have our days spanning over 2 people's birthday's. We'll probably go for the two youngest though, so we won't have to deal with them feeling left out. However, I have a feeling my little brother will probably go for the FastPass badge, because not waiting in line would appeal to him. My sister could go either way... she doesn't like shopping, so I don't think she'd want the gift card, but she doesn't like rides either... If it was my birthday, I would probably put it towards dinner with everybody, course my birthday is in value season, so ride lines aren't as big of an issue...

WOOT WOOT! :cool1: This weekend is going to be sooo long! ;)

Let's all just have a party - For no reason! It's Thursday! Why not!

I ordered it for my girls! I think it looks great! It has a page or two for each part of each park, places for pictures, autographs, stickers, personal stories, etc. It is great! Very colourful! I don't think we will carry it around the parks with us but use it as part of our "winding down" time at night to record stuff about our days etc! I would say it would appropriate for any child able to read and write (even with a bit of help) and it would be fine for up to say age 12-13 even!

Of course you have a girlie room! With a hunter husband you NEED a girlie room! Pink and pretty and NO ANIMAL PARTS! :lmao:

Instead of having a single room that's a girlie room... I'll probably give Logan his own room for his army/hunting/fishing gear. Otherwise, it will be strewn all over the house... we'll see how it pans out though...

I believe that the potato head stuff is in Toontown (at least I think it was there last time). You're right - that store is big - not as big as World of Disney, but nonetheless it's a large store. What I liked about it is it didn't seem as "crowded" as the WOD store can seem.

That store holds a soft spot in my heart... When I went on my last trip I was trying to find the perfect gift for Logan. I was having a really hard time, because I didn't want to get him anything too kiddie, though he probably would have been ok with that, so I decided that I wanted to get him a stuffed animal of his favorite character. I narrowed it down to either Mater or Dumbo, but was having a hard time finding either. They did have like a remote control or windup Mater, but I didn't really want to get that for him, and I couldn't find Dumbo anywhere.
Well, during our trip we were all in the Magic Kingdom, and I'm not sure exactly what happened (I think everybody else wanted to ride some ride that we had already ridden, or wanted food or something), but Adam needed someone to escort him to Toontown (he was only 9, so we all took turns escorting him) He was collecting a different coin necklace from every park, and I think he was having trouble finding one in the Magic Kingdom, he had looked in all of the Lands except Toontown. Well, we hurried off to Toontown and found that GIANT store... and right inside the entrance was a shelf of Dumbo dolls, and pushed in the back corner of the bottom shelf was the last one. I snatched it up, and was so thrilled with myself for finding it.

(P.S. Logan absolutely adores it, and sleeps... er... I mean looks at it every night);)

Ok, this is why I'm so excited! The UPS man dropped off a Disney box to my front door. Off course, my DD saw it and wanted to know who it was for. I said it was for me, but I didn't know what it was (yeah right!). So, I locked myself in my room and took some pics!

I'm one happy Disney-loving chick right now! Don't worry, my back pack with have a LGMH on it before I leave on my trip!

YAY! I love it when fun packages come in the mail. Right now I'm having all my fun packages sent to my Mom's house though, so I haven't actually gotten to open anything, because she does it for me...:rotfl:

YAY! What glorious news... I can see the end as well... it's (excuse me for singing Disney) "Just around the riverbeeeend!"

Maggied: I'm so sorry about your daughter. I hope it's a fast healing injury.

Peaches: I'm glad your parents are working it out. My parents went through counseling a few years ago. They're still together... but I don't think they've worked out their issues.:sad2: I think they've just kind of resigned to staying together, and I really wish they would go back to counseling and really try to work out their issues, because it really sucks for them. I honestly think that if they would both just put a little more effort into it, then they would realize that if they're going to stay married they might as well like each other.
I'm very happy that your parents are really trying to work it out. I think that counseling can really work if both people are committed to the relationship, and really want to learn how to make their relationship better.

I hate it when marriages fall apart... I really love it when people work it out, and remember why they got married in the first place.

That and a flight delay due to snow.

OK - question from a not so switched on Aussie who's now concerned about flight delays and who doesn't know how US flights all connect together... We're arriving in LAX on 22 Dec, and have a direct flight with United LAX/MCO. What's the chances we'll have flight delays??? I'm hoping that because it's direct that things should be fine.

QOTD - What is everyone planning to buy at DisneyWorld?

Not much, :sad2: unless the Aussie Dollar exchange rate improves!!! Seriously, I'd like a few more character Christmas Ornaments (to go with those I bought on our first trip to WDW, and from DLP), and a tonne of Disney Papers, stickers etc. to use in our Scrapbooks. Hopefully the Outlet Shops will have plenty of stuff at a good discount. Does anyone know if they have Disney Scrapbooking Stuff at the Outlet Stores?

I did that too! Found a great seller and got tons of the kids (and my) favorites. DD7 is into Tinkerbell, DD5 wants Princesses (in glitter dresses!) and I love Mickey.

Any chance you could please PM me the seller details? I'd like to get a few to surprise my DDs with for Christmas.

I don't think we will carry it around the parks with us but use it as part of our "winding down" time at night to record stuff about our days etc! I would say it would appropriate for any child able to read and write (even with a bit of help) and it would be fine for up to say age 12-13 even!

I bought this book for my DD9 (nearly 10), and it's PERFECT :thumbsup2 for her. Mind you DD11 (who has a reading age of 15), also quite enjoys having a look through it from time to time. She does prefer the Passporter more though - it appeals to her analytical nature...

I have a question for all you WDW experts...

When we are in the world it is going to be "What will you Celebrate?" back in 1997?? they had the Cake Castle...do you think they bring it back for this celebration?

I certainly hope NOT!!!! No offense to the fans of the castle cake out there, but IMHO it looks atrocious. More like something that should be on the kitchen table in Minnie's Country House with candles all over it I think. It will be interesting to see what decorations they put up though.

We arrive on DD's birthday, but unfortunately it's 22 Dec 2008 - a week or so too early for the Celebrations theme. We will have our 15th Anniversary in WDW on the 8 Jan, but no 'pressies' from Disney for that :confused3 . Not that I mind because that day is going to be 'Mum & Dad's day' where we get to do all the rides WE want, before a romantic (??) family dinner at Jiko. I did think about saying IASW was my favourite ride and making DDs ride it with us over and over again, but I think DH & I would go mad before they did!

...and I'll just have a little party as today it's 59 days until we arrive in WDW   :yay: :yay: :cheer2: :yay: :yay:
