Hello snowbirds,

It has been a while since my last visit with you. Things at work have gone from bad to worse. I can't share details but please keep me in your thoughts and prayers, as well as my congregation.

I may only be 28 but I feel so old right now.

Sorry for being a bummer this morning. I'm so glad I have Disney, because it is one of the only things that is making me smile right now.

103 days:love:

Hmmmmmmmm... didn't think about the clothing issue.... who wants to sit on an airplane with all those snowboots and heavy coats:eek: ... I think we might be okay as my DS is bringing along a friend whose parents said they would bring us all to the airport.... so really I just need to run from my front door into their warm car then they will drop us off at the curb at the airport:woohoo: so I think that a light weight jacket and sneakers might be okay for us.... I am worried about the weather.... our flight leaves at 7 am... so that is a 5 am arrival at the airport.... its pretty snowy here in Central NY and VERY cold at that time of the day!!!!!!!!!!

Well snowbirds.... I too am off to bed.... have a good night.....

Good morning Peaches.....:)

We had roughly the same flight last year and our flight was cancelled (for the first time in all our January trips!) due to high winds/snow. We ended up driving to Binghamton because the weather wasn't as bad. We do wind pants, sneakers and a light coat with shorts and t-shirts underneath. That way it's pretty easy to take of the layers. It's always an adventure flying out of Syracuse in January.:thumbsup2

Hi fellow snowbirds! I know I've been pretty quiet on this thread, but I love reading everyone's posts! My sister just had twins, and so between caring for them, my own health, school, and work, I've just been so busy by the end of the day. I just needed a break from accounting homework tonight! I just got to check out the updated list of everyone going, and am excited to see many of my fellow snowbirds are at POP. I'll definitely be rocking the LGMHs all over, and sneaking some onto the DBF as well. I just wanted to check in and let everyone know how much I love this thread. But now, back to Intro to Accounting. :sad2:

WELCOME WELCOME!! We definitely love to have new Snowbirds!!

Jenjolt.... I wish we were going to be there at the same time ...we could have hung out.... my boys will all be golfing everyday so I will have lots of solo time as well....

 Me too!! Me too!!!

Where are you having breakfast..... Crystal Palace or Cinderella's???? I love them both..... the stuffed french toast at the Castle is sooooooooo yummy.... the fresh fruit...........and the sausage........... oh my........I am getting hungry just thinking of it.....

I'm having breakfast at the Crystal Palace!! YAY!! I want a picture with Tigger so bad!!

Jen... I saw that you wrote tomorrow is your double digit party. You arrive Jan 15 and we will be coming Jan 16. According to Northwest's website tomorrow is my 99th day. Wouldn't your party have been today? I would hate for you take missed it.

Also want to say...sorry your a Michigan fan...Go SPARTANS.
Go Wings...can't wait the season opener tomorrow...raise that banner.

Well when I say I arrive on the 15th I mean like at 11pm at night so I'm really counting the 16th as my first day so that means .....

party: party:   DOUBLE DIGIT DANCE party: party:   YAY!!!!

GO RED WINGS!! SO excited about a new season!!:dance3:

I'm ignoring the Spartan comment LOL!!

Did I read somewhere that some of you take hats and mittens to WDW? A January trip is going to be so strange to me since all my other visits have been hotter than hot.:cool2: Perhaps I should add those to my packing list.

I'm starting to plan out which parks on which days and was wondering if it is possible to see Spectro at 7 and Wishes at 8. I've never seen either and they are back to back so I was just wondering if you can see them both in the same night. :confused3 Are they both in the heart of MK?

One more thing before I go ~

:cool1:  :woohoo: I am going to DISNEY in 15 weeks!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo:  :cool1:

I love seeing your countdown because I'm right behind you!!!!:goodvibes

Laura~ I am sorry:sad1: Having a husband who's been a pastor, and going through some pastoral changes in our church now, I can say that it can go from bad to worse pretty quickly!!! Don't feel old---just remember to keep giving it to the Lord. And when you do--DON'T take it back. Sometimes it daily, sometimes minute-to-minute. Bad news & gossip can travel so fast, sometimes it's hard to put out fires and keep up with it all!!! We'll be praying for you-keep us posted.

I'm having breakfast at the Crystal Palace!! YAY!! I want a picture with Tigger so bad!!

Tigger is my favorite! I get a picture with him every trip. A great place is in Animal Kingdom. Walking out of DinoLand and towards the tree, immediately after the bridge turn to your left. There is a path that takes you down to the "river" area. Winnie the Pooh characters are down there. There is a sign at the top to let you know who is out when. Good Luck! And...Crystal Palace is really yummy!!

First, NO hats/mittens for me. The only "cold" weather article of clothing that gets packed is a sweatshirt. I don't even give a second thought to packing more.:rolleyes1

Secondly, yes you can see Spectro and Wishes the same night, rather easily. Spectro follows the parade route down Mainstreet. If you are on Main Street you can see Wishes.

Spectro (last time I saw it) Only takes about 10-15 minutes. Depending on where you are sitting however, it may or may not start on time. The closer to the beginning you are, the closer you are to the actual start time.

For Spectro we usually sit by the shooting arcade. It takes about 5-10 minutes after the parade actually starts to reach that point. (those floats move about 2 mph...or so it seems).

Good morning :goodvibes Snowpeople!!!

Well, we had a busy day yesterday:teacher: as usualy, grocery shopping, trip to the bookstore:lovestruc , dinner, ballet--endless!! And dd had a touch of fever/allergies over the weekend,so she was still kinda feeling off yesterday. But my boys werent':sad2: They were sooooo wired all day- I guess it's the weather, I don't know. Anyway, I am happy for all the new snowbirds!! And all of you at 99 days and counting!! I think I hit doubles on the 16th-not certain, as I have cheated this time and just watched all of your tickers:thumbsup2 I am too tired to count!!!

Sharadoc~we would love to try and do something with all of you--but I am just gonna wait and see what ya'll want to do. Whatever ya'll decide will be great--even if we just pop over for a bit & say hey!!! We have a couple of afternoons that are going to be slow, so if it's a busy day, we'll still run over for as long as we can!! This has really put a new spin on our trip--I have never met another diser!! I am quite excited!! At first it looked like all of you would be gone by the time I got there-but the end of the month is coming right along quite nicely!!

Well, gotta get my munchkins onto their school work. We had such a long day and a late night, so I let them sleep in a bit. Dd was feeling bad, and now one of my boys says he feels fevery and maybe a headache:sick: YIKES!! That makes for a long school day---lots of reading by me!!! If he feels bad, we still do all his science and history reading, but I do it on the couch with him. So,I have to go and get professional now!!:teacher: I will check in with you all later this afternoon!! Have a blessed day!!!

Hey, my peeps! Wassup?:cool1:

Been a busy day here. We're having some trouble closing out our account with our old landlady and she still has the electric bill listed in our name. We got kicked out of that apartment and left on February 14. She has an electric bill for over 2000 shekels from February-August and says we have to pay because it's in our name. The new tenants never put their name on the bill and apparently never paid the money. We visted the electric company today and showed them our contracts, etc. They told us that we do not have to pay (obviously) and that the new tenant needs to come in. They were going to shut the electricity off in the apartment until they took care of it.

Then we came home to an angry call from our former landlady telling us we have to come to take our bill that it isn't nice of us to do what we are doing. Ugh. So, Scot called a housing agent and he's going to take care of everything. Nothing works the same here and there are always problems.

The sad thing is I loved our old apartment and would have been happy to stay there for a long time. But the landlady wanted us to move to an apartment lower in the building for her benefit. She had us move once already, so we said, "No thank you." We'd rather have a new landlord. She didn't like that at all.:confused3

I know it's cross-cultural stuff we're dealing with here, but it sure is frustrating! Anyway, we won't be paying someone else's electric bill. And if there electricity is cut off, that's their problem. Hopefully our name will get off that bill soon.

So, that's the exciting part of the day. We got some more errands run, some shopping done, etc. Tonight into tomorrow is Yom Kippur, which is the holiest day in Judaism. The streets of Jerusalem shut down and there is only movement within the Arab neighborhoods. That means no school for our older kids tomorrow because the Arab teachers and students who live across town can't make it to work. We'll see what tomorrow holds! I thought it would be my first day of teaching a new group of students in the West Bank, but the West Bank gets pretty much closed off too. And there are often people throwing stones on cars that are moving on Yom Kippur. Not a good day for traveling.:rolleyes1

I have decided on where I want to stay at Pop! I think we're going to request 2, 3, or 4 floor in the 70s building 10 (or 0...I've seen it written both ways) in a connecting room (a necessity for us since we'll have kids in both rooms...anyone know if that request is usually honored?) as close to the playground and the classic hall as possible. I like the themeing of the 70s buildings. I like the 50s too, but I think the kids will enjoy the 70s more. I started a file on the hotel, including the contact info, etc. :thumbsup2

What's new with all of you?

Just found out about this thread - I'm going Jan 4-11 w/DH, DS5, DD2, and MIL/FIL - staying at VWL in a 2br on my MIL's DVC pts. ADRS are:

1/4 WCC Dinner
1/5 Ohana Dinner
1/6 Crystal Palace breakfast
1/6 Narcoosees Dinner (just DH & Me)
1/7 H&V Playhouse lunch
1/8 1900 PF Dinner (DD's 2nd birthday dinner!)
1/9 Coral Reef Dinner
1/10 Chef Mickey's (if we're up for it - last night)

My one big question of today - Saw a reference to Splash Mountain being closed in January - is that all of January, or mid-January - anyone know or have a reference to the refurb details?

Thanks!

Regarding coats - both d and I have ski jackets with a removable fleece inside, so we'll be wearing those. Full jacket & fleece until the airport, then at Disney we'll take them apart so we'll have a Thinsulate shell and a fleece. So we won't have to pack as many sweatshirts. (Yes, I'll probably take the gloves we'll be wearing too, but with any luck they'll never leave our room! :rotfl:)

And I'm at 85 DAYS and counting :teacher: (please note the Lime Green in honor of Dissers!)

I forget the exact dates of the Splash Mtn closure. . . I don't think it was the whole month though. . . I will double check.

I hope everything works out with the landlady!! I certaintly wouldn't be paying someone else's electric bill. I'm sorry to ask..how much in american dollars is 2000 shekels???

Where did you find your PoP century Information! I would love to request a room, I know I'm not doing a preferred room but at least I can choose something that is well lighted. Being by myself I want to make sure I'm not way out in the boonies. So I'm going to call as it gets a bit closer and at least ask about that.
