January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part II !!!

Morning everyone.

I'm currently pouting about Splash Mountain. Yes They do a lot of refurbs in the off months, unfortuneately it's the only time my sister can get days off, other than the summer. And well I'm not going there in the summer.

Ok, let's see.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all those having birthdays!

I'll be back later. I must go visit my "friend" Mr. Treadmil!:headache: :rolleyes1

I've never understood the not being in pictures thing... but my Mom never likes being in pictures which means we have very few pictures of her when she was a young Mom, which is frustrating, because it's fun to see what she looked like when I was little, because I don't remember.

KEY POINT - I think that's what I was getting at. The memories that you are creating for your family deserve the entire family in those photos - not every one, but don't stay out of ALL of them because you don't think you look good enough.

Seriously! Splash will be closed while we are there! My son is going to be so disappointed. He was really looking forward to riding it.

I think I'm going to cry.

Don't cry - it will be there the next time you go. You'll have time to do something else, instead!!

Unfortunately, that's one of the things that you have to expect in a January trip. It's the main reason we used to go twice a year ;) Different seasons mean different things to do, and different fun to have!

Afternoon Everyone!
Shhhh.....I'm playing hookie! You would think it was to do something fun, but no, I'm spending the day cleaning! :laundy: urgh.

Anyway... HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN! (and Shelly's Son!)
:cake: party:
:bday:

So I'm still bummed about missing Philharmagic! Now you got me freaked thinking that some rides in the other parks will close too! Here's hoping it's like O'Canada!:rolleyes1 If Everest or Dinosaur close down, I think I would cry, :sad1: I mean then there's just no point to that park for me! :sad2:(Let's think happy thoughts about not losing Tower of Terror or Rocking Rollercoster too!:goodvibes )

Sharadoc-I love your advice about photographs. I'm always yelling at my dh to get me in a picture with my kids so they'll know I existed while they were growing up. When I'm gone, I would like to think my kids will look past the fact that I was having a bad hair day or didn't have on makeup and see the love I have for them.
The last time we went to WDW I came back with pictures of my dh with ds and others with myself and ds. We only had one picture of our whole little family:sad1: . This time we are splitting a photopass between my family, my sister's family, and my parents.:cheer2:

Well I guess it's reason to schedule another trip as soon as possible :cool1:

robin

Good thinking... now if I could just get my dh thinking that way! :stir:

I have a terrible migrain today. I am hoping I can get through the rest of my day.

Hope it's gone soon- perhaps try thinking happy Disney thoughts to scare it away!:wizard: Feel better!

Okay! Here I go! Gonna try multiquoting again!

I am still SO MAD about Mickey's Philharmagic!!!

 :sad2: :sad1:  :guilty: :badpc: :( :worried: :sad1: :sad2:

Okay, that was my tantrum for the day!! :rotfl2:

Me Too! I was really hoping to try that one! :sad1:

Yesterday we got to visit with friends at their home in the West bank. What a fun day! We ate wonderful food that never ended! We got to meet their relatives and just enjoy some out of the city time. We also got to help one family pick their olives. It's early, but they run the olive press in the village, and they have to run a tree worth of olives through to get everything ready. They bought a new machine for this year that should help the pressing happen faster! It was a fun day! But I'm still tired! We just go and go and go!:rotfl:

Picking Olives?! That sounds like so much fun! I LOVE OLIVES! I would probably eat more than I would pick! :rotfl:

Disney loves to refurb in January. It has been the only negative of January trips.... But from past experience I will say that often they re-open rides ahead of schedule. So maybe, just maybe, Mickey’s PhilharMagic will open a few days early for those of us going towards the end of the month.;)

Oh That would be fabulous! Let's all wish really hard that it opens a few days early! :goodvibes

That really stinks. Can we demand a partial refund for our park tickets based on mental anguish and heartache?

I think we should at least be compensated for our pain and suffering! Say front of the line passes for any 2 rides we want!

BTW, Avon has some new Disney products. On clearance (one of my favorite words!) there's a Snowbabies figurine - the baby is wearing Mickey ears and putting them on a snowman! Very cute. Also, but not on clearance, there are some Princess books, nightgowns, etc.

Awesome - I gotta go check that out! I just got a new catalogue yesterday!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there are some very strong rumors going around that Space MTN is supposed to be closed for a lengthy period of time! I haven't seen or heard anything from Disney on this but, my 2009 Unofficial Guide says that Space MTN will be closed ALL next year!:sad2:

Sorry...just trying to catch up (and sorry for no multi-quoting)....

I guess I should be thankful our school district requires store-bought snacks only for birthdays. Not really sure of their reasoning behind the thought, but it's LOTS less work for me!!!:lmao:

Also....I'm pretty bummed too about Philharmagic, but excited about Splash. It was closed during our trip last year. Although, if I had to choose, I'd prefer Philharmagic open. I just don't know that we'll be able to get our son (who will turn 6 shortly after our trip) on Splash!! I think Soarin ruined him for life last year! :rotfl:

And....I agree that babies shouldn't grow up!!!

That's the beauty of picking olives: you can't eat them fresh off the tree! So, no overeating and under-picking!:lmao: They are bitter and awful and need to be cured. Oh, I love olives too!

Picking olives is something very precious to Palestinians. It's been an honor to be able to work alongside Palestinian families in their olive fields. Here are a few pictures. It's nothing like anything I've ever done before!

This is Georgia Kate:

Thought I'd share since it's something so different and fascinating to me! We're going out picking in a few weeks again! Can't wait!:thumbsup2

Okay, cookies are done! :faint:

You know, as I stood there in my kitchen covered in flour and mixing, rolling, cutting out, baking, & frosting (and taking pictures of) oh about 100 Mickey-head cookies and listening (and singing)to all of the "Lunchtime with the 80's" songs on the radio, I had to stop and wonder - when exactly was it that I became such a nerd???!!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Thanks for the Happy Birthday for my DS! :goodvibes

I am really bummed about Philharmagic too. But if we lose RNRC I just may have to cancel the whole trip!

You've been very busy!!! Did you make the frosting, too, or just color it?

I'm in the nerd club, too. DD9's favorite music is 80's! :rotfl2:

Shelly - do you have a mickey head cookie cutter? I am so gonna get me one of those! That is brilliant! Where did you get it? I have never seen one! :thumbsup2 The frosting colour looks so bright - did you use liquid or paste food colouring? I love to decorate cakes and cookies! :)

Um yeah, I might have cheated on the frosting and just colored it!! :ssst:

My kids love the 80's too! :yay: :yay: Is it wrong that they know all the words to Jenny/8675309 ??? :rotfl:

Peaches- Your family blesses me so much. The kids are adorable and it's so wonderful that you guys get to experience such neat things. I also love the name Georgia Kate.

Shelly- YUM!!!! I want to know about the icing, too.

I just checked around this morning and found it at the Laughing Place. None on ebay. I think they're on sale through today. Sale price was about $8 I think. If anybody else knows where to look, let us know.

Yep, I have 2. I got a bigger one at the WDW Store at the Orlando airport. It was a huge pain in the butt though, the ears kept falling off of poor Mickey's head! :rotfl: This one I got at the kitchen store in DTD. It's smaller and I lost very few ears today! :goodvibes

I used liquid food coloring. Not sure why they turned out so bright!
