January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part I !!!

How many times have you been to Disney? What are you looking forward to this trip?

This is my FIRST trip! I grew up in so. California and went do Disneyland all the time. After moving to Tennessee in 2005 I was having WITHDRAWALS. We finally decided to go for it and planned this trip for January for our whole family - all six of us! My oldest two children went to D.land once with me, but my husband and two youngest have never been to any Disney parks, so there are going to be a lot of ooohing and ahhhing going on!


I'm starting to wonder if crowds are going to be ridiculously low or what come January... I called to change my Cindy's Table ADR and figured the reservationist would die of laughter, but come to find out there were TONS of open tables for every meal, every day we were there!

Okay so I saw you had a PTR so I headed over there and I have to say I really did LOL (thank goodness no kids in the classroom) when you said you were in the printing everything stage!! I can so relate to that right now. I have to seriously start considering buying the 2inch binder or just caving and buying another to fill out all my stuff. 2 ink cartridges later and I'm still not done OUCH!! But back to reading, but I had to reply on that cuz its so true!

I have thought about one, but I don't think mine would be entertaining, and I say that with all honesty..LOL!!

I did a TR for my second trip in 2007. I guess it was pretty boring, not many readers. The whole thing amounted to like 6 pages!

This year I did a Dining Report. I had a much better time doing that and had a lot more readers. Plus it is fun to take pictures of your food in the restaurants and have people look at you like you are out of your mind!!!!

Thanks Trixie! Your support means a great deal to me! Just knowing that my snowbird friends will be there to cheer me on is giving me a boost of confidence already! I think I will do it! I will probably start it somewheres around the middle of October! Now to come up with a catchy title! I have been musing on this for a while! I don't want to reveal it just yet.... have to think onit some more!

Not that I need to be spending any more time DISing than I already do, but how many of you Snowbirds have PTRs?
I've also thought about starting one...but since joining this thread it's all I can do to keep up here...

Please start one! The more Snowbirds with PTR's the merrier!!!!

BellaSoleil has a really hilarious PTR with quite the cute spin on it as she updates it with her newest shopping purchases!!

Thanks so much! I tend to get insecure about it. Lots of lukers, but not alot of posters, so I wonder if it's worth the trouble sometimes. Oh well... I guess that's how it goes.

I don't find mine hard to maintain because I love to write. I would write an update everyday if I had enough material to entertain with.

I don't think so now, but I thought it would be harder before I had one. Granted it's just a PTR, but it's fun to 'meet' so many new people and to s hare your planning experiences. I've gotten lots of invaluable advice!

Hey all, just got off the phone and booked our first ever january trip to wdw. we will be goin jan 11-15th and taking two friends for their first ever trip to wdw! Any ideas on how the crowds will be?

Oh I knew fellow DISers would feel my PAIN! One month after buying ink cartridges, I'm out of ink! I'm glad you're enjoying it... there should be a new update later today!

ME TOO! A couple of guidebooks would have been cheaper than all of the ink. I use the regular 3 hole punch paper to print on, which is really cheap. The lines fade into the background, and I didn't have to buy a 3 hole punch.

Good grief guys and girls -- I go to a meeting at work for four hours and come back to five new pages!

QOTD [and, please don't ever apologize for asking what the abbreviations are for -- I never know either so I just muddle through several pages until I kinda sorta figure it out - it'd be a lot easier if I would just ask!]

This will be the first visit for David, John, Cassidy, Isaac and me but the second visit for Daniel and Brandy. We're all pretty much in the same boat, though -- Daniel and Brandy both say that their first visits were not that memorable.

What I'm looking forward to? Hanging out with my friends [who, even though we live in the same city, don't spend nearly as much time together as I'd like], maybe even meeting some new Snowbird friends, absorbing the magic by doing whatever - I don't want to get bogged down on having to do everything but I still want to do some things - just want to achieve a balance between the two.

You guys will have to take the post count up with the DIS, not me!! Just go to the Countdowns and Live Reports page and look to the right of our thread title and you can click on "replies" and it will bring up all the info for you!

The amount of "views" is what's amazing to me! We sure are popular!!

I thought about doing one, too, -- my early trip-planning was pretty exciting in that I almost choked one of our trippies because he, after we had set the dates AND bought our plane tickets, decided that he probably needed to actually ask his boss if that would be a good time to be off work. His boss said no so we had to go back to the drawing board to find another date then scramble to change the dates of our flight. I was lucky because I didn't get charged - another trippie got stuck with a $75 fee . The irony is, he ended up quitting that job and now, because he has a new one, isn't sure if he's even going --

All things do work together though - our original trip was for February. If it hadn't been for that mix-up and subsequent rescheduling, I'd have never met all of you!

All that to say -- since then, things have been rather anti-climactic and any PTR of mine now would be pretty boring and sound something like this -- 'on Monday, I read the DIS, decided to go to Epcot first. Trixie was funny.' 'on Tuesday, I read the DIS, decided not to go to Epcot first. Pea3ches likes chips.' .....

Any excuse for a Snowbird to throw a party!!!! Got to love the jumping and band playing smilies!! I have enough faith in us and the fact that we are on the 4th page in just half a day that we can make it by Thursday LOL!!!

BTW I would like to throw it out there that I'm 16th on the list and am making a run for the top although that's going to be a lot of posts LOL
