January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part I !!!

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Friday and weekend! Also, I've seen some postings about Old Navy. Gotta say thanks for the free advertising! (I work there!). If anyone ever has any questions about the good ole ON, send me a PM! The picture of the jacket that was posted is awesome. I just bought it in green/blue for my DD as a birthday gift. It's not super heavy, so I don't know about it being an acceptable winter coat here in Buffalo, but it's cute anyways. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello everyone! My friend Soleil told me about this thread, and it sounds like you snowbirds (I love that name btw!) have a lot of fun! My family is arriving at the world just afer New Years (we're hoping to avoid all the Christmas crowds!) and staying for about a week and doing a short but sweet 3-night Disney cruise!...I can't wait!

I'm so annoyed at the new birthday promotion! My bday is at the END of January, and we're going at the beginning! :headache: We already bought tickets, but I would've loved a gift card to splurge on souveniers!

Welcome Welcome!! The more the merrier!! I'm off to read your TRs. :thumbsup2

I'm starting to think I should write a PTR, but we'll see I'm not all that creative LOL! I'd rather show you my scrapbook and planning binders LOL!!

I had to rush back from your Trip report, I'm reading from lastest trip and working my way back, however I had to detour because I saw the words avid Jane Austen fan!! ME TOO!!! I love her books and I'm currently reading Persuasion and just finished Mansfield Park!! Although I must admit my all time favorite is Pride and Prejudice!! Okay now I have definitely gotten way off topic I'm going to sneak back over to your TR and enjoy the silence that is my classroom during my planning break!

I thought I read that the one day ticket was upgradable, so I'm going to get that out, and then buy the multi-day ticket for DD when we get there. I'm searching through everything to confirm that. I may send a note to Cheshire Figment to check - she's the expert! If the upgrade IS true, then you can save the $75 on an admission ticket.

I'd rather do that. DD also wants to do Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on her b'day. I wonder if the fun card will work for that?

I also read that the free birthday ticket is upgradable, which is nice...we already bought our tickets, before the prices went up, so that doesn't help me.

I would guess that the fun card will work at BBB--I saw a list of specifically excluded places, which are non-Disney owned stores such as many of the World Showcase shops, some of the DTD shops, etc. Also specifically mentioned that it cannot be used for food.

I had planned to hit DTD on my birthday, so $75 at World of Disney will suit me fine! :woohoo:

WELCOME Agprincess! :goodvibes

So agree. We might fly out of jersey with jet blue. We will have to use long term parking. The snow storms must stay away till Febuary, like they have been for the last couple of years.

I just bought my plane tickets!:cool1: It's real! It's real! After confirming with my mom that she would prefer to fly out of Allentown, because my sister lives 20 minutes from the airport, in spite of the extra cost, I bought 7 tickets from Allentown, PA to Orlando via Newark. I'm so excited!

It ended up being a little over $200/person, which actually isn't bad for a flight out of Allentown. We got great times, putting us into Orlando late morning and leaving at 2:50pm on our departure day, giving us some time in the morning. I like that!

Plus, if we had flown out of Philly, we would have had to use long-term parking and fought the morning rushhour and spend an extra long time on the road. My mom's nervous about a PA snowstorm or ice storm. That's why she nixed the idea of traveling to Baltimore to stay with my BIL.

She's paying. I won't argue. :lmao:

Oh, I can't wait to get to Disney! I can't wait!!!!

Oh - and to distract myself from the countdown, I told my DH - maybe we should have another kid! Oh - and sell our house and buy another!

I am officially insane.:rolleyes1

We fly out of Philly to use Southwest. It is an hour from our house to Phila. Airport. We will have to keep out fingers crossed for the weather, because we have an EARLY (6:30 a.m.) flight to Orlando! Maybe we should consider staying overnight near the airport.

Now I have to read those TRs - any friend of Jane's is a friend of mine.

I  Colin Firth.

By the way, Bella, heeeeeeee

Oh, and I'll have to chime in as part of the minority who's excited about the 2009 promotion. One of my Disney pals will be celebrating her birthday while we're there and we didn't even know about the promotion beforehand!

Who knows? If I have a lot of fun with Brandy's birthday, I might have to go back later in the year for mine [then I could get free dining, too :cool1: ]

Good morning snowbirds.... I am up early today as my sisters new puppy woke me up at 4:30am.... her puppy and I get up..... something wrong with that picture.... so we had a change in plans yesterday... my Dad lives in FL in the winter... he decided to come to WDW to see us for DS birthday... means I had to change dining around a little............sorry Shelly..... so we are now going to LeCellier on1/28, still at Cali Grill on 1/19 (at 6pm) and San Angel Inn on 1/30.... I am thinking that the 6pm time might be bette for viewing the fireworks.... we did have ADR at 7:15 with Wishes at 8pm.... my guess is that we wouldn't have gotten a table yet as people would still be sitting around .... so now I think we will be ones of those "sitting around".... ressies at 6pm means probably getting seated at 6:15 ish..... order drinks, and appetizers.... 6:30..... dinner at 6:45... then order special order a cake for dessert.... put us around 7:30 ish..... not sure if we can stretch it out... maybe I will ask at the podium if we can wait for a MK view seat... and that will push the time table forward a little... I don't want to be a jerk and sit there to long and cause someone else to miss the show... but I also want it to be special for DS birthday....

Peaches.... glad you got your tickets....

Soleil.... loved your pre trip report....
