Oooh, you fellow PA'ers are making me hungry! On our trip last week to the Hershey outlets, we stopped in at Chocolate world. It was there I discovered a new craving... Hershey Bliss!!:woohoo:

I'm laid up now from the oh so wonderful foot surgery I had yesterday. So, along with the yummy drugs, i'm eating some of those yummy blisses. While the pain sucks big time, the bliss makes things just a wee bit better. And my happy Disney planning video of course!:tink:

Utz chips and Turkey Hill ice cream . . . a match made in Heaven:cloud9:

Turkey Hill Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is by far the best cookie dough ice cream on the face of the planet.

OOOOOHHH Turkey Hill is my absolute favorite ice cream! That is something else that makes my heart sing while my foot is screaming at me. Mmmm...it is sooo good. Especially their chocolate peanut butter....:worship:

Bella....I know I live in PA and have all of this wonderful PA food at my finger tips....but somedays I just crave some grits, red eye gravy and biscuits as only my Aunt Essie could make......my mom's side of the family is from South Carolina.....I am so hoping that I can go to the Fabulous Food Show in Cleveland.....Paula Deen and Bobby Deen are going to be there. As is Guy Fieri....I am such a Food Network Junkie.

Yum! My Grandmother makes the best cheese grits! G's mom makes "Cathead" Biscuits and Gravy, another one of my favorites. As for my mom, she's making me Beignets as I type this. YUMMMMM!!!!!:yay: We are at her house having a "Hurricane Party." (She has the generator.)

Let's hijack this board and talk Southern Food!

Good morning Snowbirds! :goodvibes

Road trip ~ YAY ~ I'm in, let's go!! :drive:

Love all the talk about PA food!! Although I have never heard of Middleswarth BBQ chips. . . We like Herr's chip! Has anyone ever been to the Herr's Potato Chip Factory Tour in Nottingham PA??? It's very fun, we've been there twice! :yay:

Hope all of our Texas and Louisiana friends are staying safe! :grouphug:

Ladies and Gentlemen, we momentarily interrupt this thread to advise Shelly had a minor memory lapse in that the Primanti's sandwich is the OFFICIAL sandwich of The Burgh.......

We now return you to you normally scheduled thread......

:lmao:

Okay, I am embarrassed to say that I don't know what a Primanti's sandwich is ??? :guilty: Sorry I don't get into the city that often! :rotfl:

I just bought some Beignet mix at the grocery store, but I forgort powdered sugar. :scared1:
I think that is one of the best deserts ever! Especially from Cafe Du Monde. :goodvibes
I'm excited to try the Beignets at POFQ, I hope they're good...

I hope the hurricane isn't hitting everyone too strongly. Stay safe!

Oh my gosh YUM! I'm a transplant to the South from southern... CALIFORNIA! But I've fallen in love with Southern food! I've learned to make shrimp 'n grits, and can make some decent cheesy grits but nowhere NEAR what some of my friends can (it's got to be in the genes)!

We are doing fine up here! I think it's headed our way, but I'm not sure. I just woke up from a long, lovely nap with DD.:cloud9: I'll keep everyone posted.

Yes, they are pretty good! The best come straight out of New Orleans at Cafe Du Monde. I think you will enjoy them, though!

Yum! DH is making Gumbo tonight. (Which I'm not crazy about, but don't tell him....)

I will say that I like any type of cuisine..... so long as it's cheesy!

Mmmmm....southern food. My DH's family is from Columbia, SC and they put my cooking to shame. The only fried chicken I had before I met him was KFC. Oh my what a difference! And pulled pork sandwiches sound so good right now. Maybe I will make that for dinner one day this week. Nala- the beignets at POFQ are pretty darn tasty! I wonder how much weight I would gain if I used every snack credit on those? And who doesn't love Paula Deen? I want some of her symphony brownies about now. It is raining so hard here in Detroit our streets are getting flooded. My poor DH is working til 10pm in this weather as an EMT. And the girls and I are snuggling down watching Disney movies! popcorn:: Hope all of you stay safe from Ike. TTFN!

YEAH! Middleswarth BBQ chips! Oh, can't wait to enjoy those again!

So, here are some pictures of me enjoying my first taste of Middleswarth BBQ chips in nearly 4 years:

:rotfl2: That's too funny!!

I never did understand grits.... I really must be a Northerner

And good luck to everyone in the path of the hurricane, stay safe!!

But with all the hoagies or hoogies and pretzels and cheese curds [sorry, guys, but does that really sound appetizing??!?!?!], we'll have to save room for your friends at deiners. And maybe save our wawa coffee for our luscious desserts at their bakery.

Ok so the name cheese curds really is misleading, its really just like chunks of mozzarella. Good all by their self actually... mmmm

Bliss is the best thing to come out of Hershey in a long time. My Hubby works for Hershey and he brought some home about a year ago for the first time. They are like an addiction for me. The Chocolate Meltaways are the BEST!:goodvibes

Great pics, Peaches!

First of all..........

HELLO SNOWBIRDS!!! I haven't posted in like a month. I'm a teacher, and this back-to-school business has seriously cut into my computer time!!:teacher:

Secondly.........

I got a pin!!!! Unfortunately, it ends 2 weeks before our travel dates....... waaaaaah!!!

Laurainsem--how's your foot doing? Healing nicely I hope! :goodvibes

It's not as bad as last night, but still not good. I had the local anesthetic wearing off last night and it felt like hot knives were driving through my foot. Not so fun! Today it still hurts like crazy, plus it is still bleeding a little bit. The yummy narcotics are helping, as is the collection of Disney movies my sister and I are enjoying. Right now I have Mary Poppins on, one of my favorites.

Thanks so much for asking. I am hoping it heals quickly and does the trick. I had two large neuromas (tumor like things wrapped around the nerve) removed along with a bone spur on the joint of my big toe. I had the same surgery last November on the other foot. Once the left foot healed, the right foot got jealous and wanted to join in on the "fun".

I'm praying like crazy i'll have happy feet for WDW! It has four months and six days to get there!

Yikes! That's a lot of work to have done. Here's a skittle hug for you , although the "yummy narcotics" probably help more!

Is your left foot all good now? How long did it take to heal?

Here's a funny little story for you...My nephew broke his arm when he was 5, and when he was in ER they gave him some very strong pain meds. He said to his mom, "Mommy, this stuff makes me feel better than I usually do". :lmao: I told him later that was exactly why Aunt Trixie isn't allowed to take that medicine anymore! :rotfl2:

Keep resting, take care of yourself!

Trixie, what a cute story! I'm always wigged out by the spacey feeling I get. According to my sister, i've been pretty funny ever since I got out of surgery. I'm hoping it's nothing she can use against me later!

My left foot took a few months, but it is better now. I actually had a surgery last July to cut the ligament with the hopes it would help. When it failed, we had to go in and do the more radical surgery. It's a very painful recovery and i'm not looking forward to it AT ALL! Getting that big toe joint to work properly is the hardest part. The other difficult thing is I get shooting phantom type pains from where the nerve use to be.

It's not fun at all. Honestly my motivation to get it done was Disney. I didn't want to deal with the pain while there so decided to just get it done now, while I still have time to heal. I'm praying it was the right move!

Oh, man, our rain is SOMETHING else, isn't it? And we're supposed to get the Ike leftovers tomorrow!! I hope your DH had an okay shift and that everyone drove sanely :rotfl: :rotfl2:

We had the brilliant (read: insane) idea to go shopping after the Michigan game ended. We ran into the whole city at Best Buy, then they all had enough sense to go home and get out of the rain. So we went to four more stores!!! ;)

Man Ike is wreaking havoc across the country. I just saw on WGN news that That several Chicago suburbs are flooded with 4 ft. of water in some people's basements. This is like 2 miles from my Grandparents house. One the the expressways had to close b/c the water was over the tops of cars. :scared1:
It's only going to keep raining for the next several days and the rivers are going to go up another 5 ft.
How is everything in S. WI coffeehousemom?
How are you ladies in the South doing?? I hope you can check in soon!
