Those pictures are great! :wizard: What do you mean by your DS being chosen for the Backlot tour?

The Studios look amazing.

DH was chosen to be in the "show" part of the Backlot Tour. Before you load into the tram and take the Backlot Tour ride there is a "skit" sort of thing showing how special effects are made in movies. There are usually 3 adults in the show. As we were walking to the entrance a CM stopped us and said they needed one more adult male to be in the show. DH was hesitant, but the kids and I sort of answered for him and said - he would love to do it! So he was the guy that is pretending to be in a boat out on the water in a storm. He got thousands of gallons of water dumped on him! (they gave him a rubber suit) It was so funny! :rotfl: And the kids and I got to go in through a special entrance and stand in the center front row!

What time do the parks usually close in Jan?

For the week that we'll be there, last year's closing times were: Magic Kingdom 8pm (one 7 pm...P&PP maybe?), Future World 7 pm, World Showcase 9 pm, Hollywood Studios 7 pm, Animal Kingdom 5 pm.

Sorry for another post, I just thought of a question for y'all (I'm not from the south, I just like how it sounds). When you do a buffet in the early morning, how much time do you allow in order to make it to rope drop? I'm just wondering from the time you enter the resaurant to the time you get to your desired park. Roughly an hour? More? Thanks!

I'm soooooo jealous!

I think making them has made me even more excited (if that's even possible)

Has anyone heard whether or not Splash Mountain is going to be closed in January? I know that it has been down for the last few years in Jan. My son is going to be sooooo disappointed if it is. He is 40 in with his Crocs on, as of this morning.

Oh I don't know. I haven't heard anything about Splash Mtn. That will be a bummer if it is closed. I guess we run the risk of some of our favorite attractions being closed in January. I just hope it's not too many!

DS9 was so bummed in May when the Jungle Cruise was closed.

You definitely want to make it around 7:30am if you want to get to rope drop before 9:00. That's what we did at Ohana's and we made it to MK by 8:40. Now if you are having breakfast at Crystal Palace you can make an 8:00 ADR and then be done and inside the park before rope drop!

Augh! I hope Splash Mountain doesn't close in January! That would be awful! :confused3

We shall wait and see, I guess!!

Our mission this time will be to try Expedition Everest, since it wasn't working the last time on our AK day. Really hope we get to go on it this time!

Oh my goodness, David Duchovny is on Leno!!!!! I must go watch!!!

Good morning Birdies! :)

I heard that Space Mountain might be going down for a long refurb some time in January. Can't remember where I heard that- either here or on the Touring Plans website maybe. Definitely an unsubstantiated rumor! ;)

So do you all book your trips then hope for a discount code? Has anyone ever tried to change their pre-existing ressie with a discount code and not been able to? What about your flights? I always base my stay on flights because we are flexible and the prices for flight vary by day. You got me nervous with booking your ADR's and I'm thinking maybe I should be doing this. They don't offer free dining in January but, it would be nice to have breakfast before park opening and dinner after closing since you say they close earlier than the rest of the year.
Where can I find historical times?

Hi Trissy! When are you planning to go in January?

As of right now I have no ressies at all. I would like to wait until about October to see if I get another great offer for January like I did this year (but didn't take advantage of it). But now I am thinking that I might call this week and make a "room only" ressie. That way I can make all my ADR's as far in advance as possible. As of right now we don't know when that is going to be for those of us going mid/end of January. Then, if/when I get an offer I will just call and change that room ressie into a package.

I just got done mowing part of the lawn. Boy is it HOT out there. We are supposed to reach 90 today! :scared1: I think we are close already.

Hey Shelly,

My birthday is Jan 9and I would love to be there for that, but I'm conserned about MLK weekend even though we will probably book an 8-10 day stay.
I don't know when we should go :sad1:
What kind of deal were you offered this past Jan? I read on mousesavers that they had a discount with ticket upgrade, but I don't know what that means.

The offer I received was for Chase Disney Visa cardholders, then I believe it opened up to the public after that. It was just that, free upgraded tickets (free park hoppers & water parks) and room discounts. It was good for 1/01/08 - 3/15/08. It was quoted for 5 nights/6days at a Value for $385 Adults and $192 Kids. Then you could add extra days or stay at a Moderate for a higher price.

That's what I'm hoping for! pixiedust:
