PA Snowbirds . . .

I know where Shamokin is! I've been through a few times traveling here and there.

As for Jon and Kate, I think that i'm fairly close to where they are. I think they are in Elizabethtown, but I'm not certain. That's about a 1/2 hour from me.

EPCOT_is_a_verb~We are going to be down at the same time! We are leaving the 6th and returning the 13th. Maybe I'll see you around!

Lot's of business to take care of tonight. I have two QOTD to answer.

First, Yesterday's: I'm planning on the following CS meals. I think we'll be hitting up Pinnoccio's, Cosmic Rays, Electric Umbrella, Pizza Planet, ummmm . . . that's as far ahead as I've thought. My son is the PICKIEST eater on the face of the Earth, so we have to find dining options with chicken nuggets or pizza.

As for today's snack QOTD: POPCORN! I will be consuming mass amounts of popcorn. Throw in a mickey bar, mickey rice krispie treat, some cotton candy, and my first ever Dole Whip. Maybe a funnel cake if I can manage it :rotfl:

Hello to the other PA snowbirds! We are from just south of Allentown.

We used to go to Knoebel's every year when our girls were small. I have fond memories.

We will all have our DIS shirts on in the parks, so may be we will run into you there, MindyLuvsMickey.

Our favorite CS: Sunshine Seasons, Cosmic Rays, Pecos Bill, Backlot Express, Cantina de San Angel, and Flaming Tree. I always look forward to snacking on a good ole Mickey Bar. I love that chocolate coating.

We have Tea at the Grand Floridian booked this year. We have never done that before, but enjoyed the review on the Podcast and decided to try it. Anyone else do Tea there?

oooo....tea at the Grand Floridian -- I am thinking about doing that but don't know, with our larger group, if I'll have time this year. [I am a sucker for anything British/Jane Austen-y and I've heard wonderful things about the tea.]

QOTD? all of the above and then some....they'll have to roll me out of WDW by the end of this trip.

Hi everyone, we're going in january too....the 24th to 31st...we planned it then to make the pirate and princess party but now i hear rumors it may not start till feb! i hope that is false...anyone have info on that? its less than 4 months to january!!!

I'm not from PA but I've heard of it! My brother went to school in Selinsgrove and got married there, so I've driven around lots.
Ah, yes...Selinsgrove. Where all the cool people hang out! :rotfl2: Did he go to Susquehanna U? Selinsgrove is such a cool town with the feel of a real university town. Rare in my area. And that's where the mall was, so we were there all the time once we got driver's licenses!:lmao:

Hello to the other PA snowbirds! We are from just south of Allentown.

We used to go to Knoebel's every year when our girls were small. I have fond memories.

My sister now lives in Macungie (or is that Mucungie?) which is somewhere near Allentown/Bethlehem. She's moved since I left the US and I don't know exactly where her little community is. She works at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

As for Knoebels, it's a great park! Now, it's no Disney World:rotfl: but it's a really fun place and it was great to grow up so close by. It's where my love of roller coasters started and was fostered and fed all these years. I can remember measuring myself every summer until I was finally old enough to ride the Jet Star. It was a cat and mouse coaster (is that what we call them?) like the Primeval Whirl with individual cars. Sadly, they sold it and put in a new coaster that was just awful. I still miss the Jet Star and here is lives somewhere in northern New York State. I would travel far and side to ride that coaster again! Knoebels is a great park for anyone looking for a fun day out.

Hope you all are sleeping well and wake up rested and enjoy your Saturday. My kids have school today, so it's a work day for us. I've got a ladies meeting any minute now, and then we have church in the evenings. We are all messed up on our days and times! Imagine a school week where the kids go Monday-Thursday and then again Saturday! YUCK! There is no weekend.

Off to my meeting! I'll check in later!

OK I have alot to catch up on.....

1.) Yes I am in the The Burgh, PA area.
2.) Knoebel's have not been there yet but it is on my amusement park to do list. Suppose to have kickin coasters and a cool Darkride. (Yes I belong to Darkride and Funhouse Enthusiasts group as well as NAPHA. National Amusement Park Historical Assoc)
3.) Fan of John and Kate plus 8. I believe the other day while watching John stated something about the house in Wyomissing....so I think they are around there. I love the Dutch Wonderland episode especially since we finally went there this year.

4.) Counter Service, definitely Tangerine Cafe and Sunshine Seasons in Epcot, Columbia Harbor House in MK, Hurricane Hanna's at the Beach Club since the Kids meals come in a beach bucket/shovel.

5.) Snacks - Mickey Ear Ice Cream Bars, Dole Whip Float, Extra Black Olive Hummus from Mara at AKL, Mickey Shaped Rice Krispie Treats and Mango Green Tea Slushie from China/Epcot. If I am really lucky a piece of candy artwork from Miyuki in Japan/Epcot.

I DO think I remember hearing that at one point . . .

Just wanted to mention that my ticker says 4 MONTHS :cool1: :cool1:

Hey phairest1, I'll be there the exact same dates! We're starting at the Grand Floridian, then moving to the Beach Club Villas and doing our last night at Pop (saves us a boatload of DVC points!)

DH is going to golf a lot so I'll be hitting the parks solo-style for a couple of days. DH has promised to visit each park so I'll use my alone time to ride my favorites over and over (just how many times can one ride TSMM before the lines become unbearable?)

Hi, all! I am just finding this thread but I too will be going in January of '09! The 10th through the 18th (and I'm still so bummed that I'm JUST going to miss Trixiequilts!)

You are right on both accounts! They have an awesome haunted house! You know, I'm such a baby that I still haven't looked all the way through!:lmao: But it's a really well done ride through and I've seen it featured on the Discovery Channel on a show about dark rides.

As for roller coasters, they have some of the best in the country! The Phoenix has been listed in the top ten wooden roller coasters since landing at Knoebels in the mid-80s. The Twister is newer and faster and awesome, but my heart still belongs to the Phoenix!:lovestruc You should definitely get to Knoebels if you enjoy dark rides and coasters!

Phairest 1, Welcome to the boards!!! I will be there the 24-Feb 1!! So, maybe we will meet!!! I have never seen anyone from these boards there. But, I am always thinking of what we are doing next, I think I forget to look for anyone!! :) You are going to love these boards--TONS of great info, tips and tricks!!! Happy Planning!!!

Macungie is about 20 minutes from my house. It is a nice area. I used to work at Lehigh Valley Hospital. It has a great reputation.

Welcome!!

We'll be there at the same time! Where are you staying!?

I'm only just going to miss Trixiequilts as well... Let's start a petition that says she should come to WDW a few days earlier!!

:welcome: to all the new Snowbirds!! I will get you all added to the list!! :thumbsup2

Feel free to jump right in and chat with us. We are here everyday chatting about Disney, and our families, and shopping, and eating, and just life in-general, oh and more Disney!! :rotfl: :goodvibes

Yup, Susquehanna U for him! I remember that mall. I would make my parents take me there when they'd drag me along. When I met my now-DH, he'd make ME take him there whe we'd get dragged along (like graduation and the wedding). My brother's wife is from fairly nearby, but I don't recall which town she grew up in.

My DH and I will be there the same time (arrive late on the 9th and leave early on the 17th) - we'll wave! :)
