Hello, me, my dh, and two dds, ages 5 (then) and turning 9 at Disney- yah! are staying Jan 4-10th at CBR. We are so excited, but it is a chrismas surprize for my kids. It is so hard keeping it a secret. This is our first trip, I think I have it planned out fairly well, but I would love any tips. I guess I will have to do a pre-trip report, but for now here is my loosely made plans.
Arrive Friday night. Go DTD to shop and maybe have dinner. Go to epcot for emh. Saturday, magic kingdom, bbb for both girls, and dinner at 1900. Sunday I believe we are going mgm, that's right we are because that is the last night of the Osborne lights. Are we going to be able to catch the lights and Fantasmic? Lights from 6-7, fantasmic at 6:30, park closes at 7, I am nervous about that, really don't want to miss either. Early that evening we are having dinner at sci-fi. Then Monday breakfast at O'hanas, spend the day at Epcot, and dinner at Chefs de France. Tuesday my daughter turns 9, so am going to let her pick the park, but I have the kids scheduled for the pirate boat ride at CBR, and dinner at chef mickeys. Wednesday we are doing animal kingdom and dinner at Boma's. Thursday we have to come home, sniffle, sniffle. But we have a late flight so we are planning on going to magic kingdom that day too. How does it sound? We are so excited, I hope I planned this half way decent, since I am pretty much oblivious.

We will be there at the same time Jan 6-12.
We will also be doing MGM on the 6th, my one must do of the trip is osborne lights that night. I am a little worried that we might miss fantasmic as well, we have an early dinner at prime time that night,(hopefully that night will be quiet with most people leaving to return to school the next day) we are then hoping to head for EMH at MK.
We are also doing AK on Wed and have dinner booked at Boma's so we might see you there

We did a "Christmas Surprise" for our kids last year this same week! It was wonderful! The looks on my kids faces when "the lightbulb went off" was priceless. We had only one present from Santa. A huge green box with one of those large red velvet bows around it. Inside the box was a letter from Santa telling the kids that he got them out of school, Mom and Dad out of work and booked us on a trip to Disney World. I had a Pal Mickey doll in there, our airline tickets and luggage tags, a Disney Gift Card for each kid, a disney tee shirt for everyone in the family (matching picture... just different color for each person), and the Free customized maps you can get at Disneyworld dot com! Wow, I doubt I'll ever experience magic like that again.

But we're going to try. We are booked to go back Jan. 4-12! We are staying once again at POR. We had such a magical time... couldn't wait to do it again! If this is your first trip... let me suggest Tour Guide Mike. I discovered him just a couple of days before we left last year and he saved us from being one of "them" and magically turned us into pro's who did not wait in line!!!! Esp. that first Sat. at MK that you have scheduled. That Saturday was crazy busy last year. 90 minute waits in the pm on most of the big rides. We, however, with help from TGM, rode all of the biggies multiple times without waiting in line!!! Got to love that Magic!

That sounds like such a great surprise! I bet your kids were so happy I have always wanted to surprise the kids, but I just can't keep it secret. They like to know and plan. I have tour guide and I was not impressed. It is a website. If u r looking for a book get Passporter for WDW 2008. It just came out. Or Unofficial Guide 2008. They r both great. UG tells u touring plans and Passporter is more of a planner. Both r great books to have.

Wow, I can't believe it took me this long to find this thread!

We will be in WDW (staying at POP) January 9th-16th. My DH and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary while there. Coming along with us (but staying in a separate room ) are our DS22, DS17 and DS22's GF. It will be our family's 5th trip, but the GF's first and she is going to be SO much fun!

I am so excited for this trip, because first we had talked about doing a Vow Renewal but then realized it was going to cost WAY too much! So then we planned on just doing the trip to celebrate...well, we own our own business and didn't make as much money this last summer as we had hoped, so didn't think we could even afford the trip any more. But then, we started going over to our local casino to watch football every week, and have been on a lucky streak! Lucky enough to almost pay for the whole trip. We have been winning more than the Seahawks thats for sure.

Yes! We did the same thing Christmas of 2004. Had our girls actually do a scavenger hunt which eventually lead to 2 pieces of a letter from "Santa" that told them about their magical trip to DL 10 days later And each of them had a cool present from their nana stuffed with $1 bills - for a total of $50 each and special disney ornaments on the tree that had the tickets hidden inside

It is really cool to be able to to this kind of thing for our little ones ...especially since they are getting bigger every day.

I am sooooo excited- We were actually planning a trip to Arizona for spring break, but decided the kids would like this much better. So I guess Arizona will have to wait. What is Tour guide Mike? I saw the thread, I guess I will be reading it now. Is it a book? I was thinking about buying a planning guide but haven't yet. Dragonfly- I am planning kind of the same surprize. I was going to give my kids the customized maps, some disney pins I am going to order off ebay, autograph books and stuff like that, I am having a hard time keeping a secret so hopefully it still will be one by then. Gogo- funny our plans are so similar. Maybe we will bump into some of you guys- we'll be the family of 4 with the permagrin

If you've held the secret this long... go for it... Christmas is not that far away now! The kids are with me on the planning of this trip so that makes up for the surprise last year. But that surprise on Christmas morning, that still takes my breath away

Wow, I can't believe it took me this long to find this thread!

We will be in WDW (staying at POP) January 9th-16th. My DH and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary while there. Coming along with us (but staying in a separate room ) are our DS22, DS17 and DS22's GF. It will be our family's 5th trip, but the GF's first and she is going to be SO much fun!

I am so excited for this trip, because first we had talked about doing a Vow Renewal but then realized it was going to cost WAY too much! So then we planned on just doing the trip to celebrate...well, we own our own business and didn't make as much money this last summer as we had hoped, so didn't think we could even afford the trip any more. But then, we started going over to our local casino to watch football every week, and have been on a lucky streak! Lucky enough to almost pay for the whole trip. We have been winning more than the Seahawks thats for sure.

Congrats on your upcoming anniversary! We'll be there almost the same timeframe as you And very cool that you had a good run at the casino to pay for it all
