Samantha.....how awesome....and heck, who needs an ATM if you don't have a store to buy more crap!!:rotfl2:

The animals are amazing, and what a gift for your kids to grow up in such an environment. I did just look it up on-line to see exactly where the Falkins were, and it does seem isolated. They did state that you are under the ozone hole and need to worry about your skin.:headache: That would seem to be the only bummer. Do you raise sheep?

Jim...we have been in the 3 bedroom units at OKW and have taken people with us and it is great...lots of room.

Welcome Imlazar:welcome: We really are a growing group....hurray!!

The flight of the Martini is listed on one of the TR from a while back. She even posted the picture....apparently you get 5 martinis for $15....yummy

Yep we have to be very careful of the sun, its easy to burn real quick. Although the heat doesnt often feel intense, we still need a very high factor suncream. The good thing is that we all get it free on prescription :thumbsup2
We dont raise sheep (only a few pet ones) DH is a Techy - he keeps the satelite links up and running between here and the UK. Although the more time I'm down here and the more time I spend out at my friends sheep farm (they have 25,000 sheep - thats a lot of wool!) the more I think it could just be the perfect life for me. I have to be content for the moment with a herd of horses, a pet goat, 2 pet lambs, and a flock of geese, ohhh and not forgetting the cat who we brought with us from the UK, poor thing was 8 weeks on a ship coming down here! I just couldnt bear to leave him behind. So we have a veteran cruiser in the family - the cat :lmao:

When do we sign up for the martini tasting? do we do that on board? Sounds like it will be great fun, how about you kay? are you up for joining in? :dance3:

What amazing pictures....I can't even imagine living there...it must be incredible at times. The penguins are adorable. Can I have one???:rotfl:

So how long of a trip will it be for you to get to Florida. I bet you win the longest trip award...lol Our friends coming from Guam have nothing on your trip.

I think we can sign up for the martini tasting onboard, like you do for the wine tasting and other events.

I'm not a big drinker - but might be persuaded to give it a try - you may find me like this :rotfl2: or :dance3: after one martini though! After a few I will be  LOL!

My brother is ex RAF too (and so was my Dad). Bro has been to the Falklands at least once.

I am looking forward to meeting all you other Dis-sers on the cruise!

OMG! Those Penguins are so cute! Can you bring me one of those on the ship? :rotfl2: Just slip him in a bag. No one will ever know.......:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 Okay, maybe not.

Jeff's Father was in the US Air Force in the early 1960 and stationed at Mildenhall. He actually sent Jeff's Mom an engagement ring and a one way plane ticket to propose and obviously she said yes. :) Jeff's older Sister was born there.

Randomness.....

I'm afraid that I will have to be out of the Martini tastings. I can't STAND Gin. I had my first Martini on our last cruise and it was horrible. However, one of the waitresses at Sessions brought me what she called a Toblaronetini (I am sure I didn't spell that close to correct). It was a Chocolate martini and that was AMAZING!

Now, if they have a wine or rum tasting, I am there. :)

I think they do have wine tasting, not sure about rum but I think I read somewhere that they do tequila! I dont usually drink a lot at home either, but when on vacation, well I like to have a few and relax :cool1:

The flight to Florida from here is awful, its gonna take us 3 days to get there! We go from here to Punta in Chile 5 hours, then swap planes and on up to Santiago in Chile 6 hours, overnight there, then onto miami 12 hours, then a domestic flight from miami to orlando :scared1: Thats the reason we are going for a month, just no point going for any less! Plus there is only one flight that leaves here and that only goes once a week!

Ohhhh I love chocotinis - I had my first one last year at the Grand Floridian in that little bar behind where the band play, it was delish

Im lookin forward to tryin the bahama mama whatever in the world one of them is :woohoo:

Oh yumm, I had the chocolate-tini too......yum yum...of course I am a huge chocolate fan anyway....:goodvibes
The have a tequila tasting, as well as a wine tasting up in Palo...did that one a 2 cruises ago, and left Palo feeling quite...well...happy....hiccuup:drinking1 :dance3:

OMG - I used to live just down the road from Mildenhall! Would drive onto the base to get a decent pizza (before they tightened up security!). It's a small world....!

Hi, again, we're staying at the Residence Inn, we stayed at the Radisson during our last two cruises. The first time was fine, the second was awful, so we're going to try something different this time.

We're on Deck 7, category 8 (forward portal), first time that we haven't been on Deck 6, looks like we'll miss all the fun.

There are enough of us....we could roll it out for him. :rotfl: I thought the day at sea would be great too, and it is the day after our actual anniversary. We are in room 6758...I was looking on the passporter's guide to disney cruise line (got it at the library, rather than pay for it) and it seems we have a glass verandah....wouldn't it be funny if we were all next to one another, that way we could just party, party, party. Greatwhite is on the same deck, just 5 rooms down on the inside. So maybe deck 6 will be the place to be.  :woohoo: :woohoo:

We are on Deck 6 as well...

I don't think I could do Tequila either. I am pretty much a Whiskey and Rum kind of gal if I am drinking anything straight and really those things were in my younger, childless days. I'm more of a Virginia Wine kind of gal now. :) Even that not too often. We love to drive to the wineries that taste, though!

That sounds like a crazy trip! You all will be exausted before the trip even really starts! What is the time difference there?

I've never made it to a wine tasting in five cruises. Not sure why, but I just haven't. Darn it! I am going to do it this time. Might have to take a nap afterward, but ahh well. It is vacation. :)

Too funny! Jeff hasn't actually been there, but he's seen pictures that his parents took. He was born here in IL, then they all moved to Spain. That was the only country he got to live in while his Father was in the AF.

WOW more Dis'sers on deck 6! You guys gonna have a mutiny and totally take over the ship at this rate!

Sign me up for the wine tasting too! (what else is a girl to do when on vacation? the kids will be in the lab, DH will be babysitting his buckets of beer, so I need to ''get in the cruise'n spirit'' somehow right? )

Have you guys got a planned itinerary for your trip? which day you would like to do Palo brunch, spa treatments, shore excursions etc? or do you just kinda go with the flow? I'm all planned out of the land part of our trip and ready to start on the cruise now.

Here's a rough idea of what I'd like to do -

1st sea day - nothing, just relax and explore he ship
2nd sea day - Palo brunch, spa villa couples thingy
3rd day - St Maarten, walk around shops, cable car to paradise point
4th day - St Thomas, excursion to trunk bay St John
5th sea day - Vow renewal, palo dinner
6th day - CC time at the family beach and a couples massage at Cabana
7th day - cry a lot :sad1:

Im trying not to fit too much in, I figure we are going to be so tired from all the travelling and the first land part of the trip that I think we are going to need some ''down time'' on the cruise just to relax and recharge!

What have you guys got planned so far?

Just checking in, we're taking this cruise (#3 for us).

DS's will be 7 and 5 at time of travel (actually DS#2 turns 5 on the cruise)
imlazar,
Welcome to our group::grouphug: :cheer2:

Brett

I think our plans so far may be:

Sea day one or 2 or 3, Palo brunch, and high tea
Also looking into the villa spa for couples as our anniversay present(do we book that onboard or can we do it at the 90 day mark?)

St Martin: Under 2 flags tour and possibly afternoon beach break

St Thomas: Doubloon sail and snorkle and paradise point tram probably on our own, depending on what time we get back. I know youngest would love to go to Blackbeards Castle.

Castaway: stingray excursion

Some in our group are planning on doing Palo dinner, not sure if we are or not.

And of course, wine tasting, martini tasting, tequila tasting....LMAO

I have been reading the character breakfast has changed and they no longer come to the tables....bummer.

Tell me thats not true:eek: . We missed it the last two cruises and we're planning on it this trip:sad2: That is a bummer.

Brett

Looks like I got my cable cars mixed up, is there a cable car ride in St Marteen?

Now I'm not sure what to do about St Thomas, I really want to go to trunk bay because it looks beautiful, but DH and the kids would want to go to Blackbeards castle as we have a beach day at CC. Is there a DCL excursion to blackbeards castle? or is a make your own way type of thing?

I think you can only book the spa villas on the ship, so thats the first place Im going to head for when we get on board.

Brett, I just took a look at your photos from your 2006 cruise, they are awesome. The ones of the butterfly farm and Megans beach are beautiful. Did y'all enjoy the butterfly trip?

Here's a random question.... do you think anybody actually goes on a Disney cruise without doing any research or planning? the ship is almost full - so how come there arent more names on the thaw list? Have you ever come across anybody on board that didnt know before hand about Palo or being able to book things like cabana massages before actually sailing?

I must admit I didnt know anything about DCL until I stumbled across this site, its only because I was browsing around the DIS that I read about the Disney ships and thought yep - that sounds like the perfect vacation for me!

On the main DCL page 3, it is titled Disappoined in Character Breakfast thread...

Here is a quote:
"Since when do the characters not come to your table to take pictures anymore? We had our character breakfast yesterday morning and it was basically fun and games for the kids that took place in the aisles. Someone said they just recently started this. Did they come to your table? "

Sounds like some cruises had them come to the table, some didn't...looks like they didn't go to the tables on the repo Med cruise either...I hope this isn't true, the pics of my DH and DS with Minnie at breakfast are priceless....And last year we were the only ones of our group who went, so now they all want to go cause they are kicking themselves for missing the characters. I read they are calling it Mickeys Island Jam....lets hope it changes.
