January 19,2008 / Eastern Magic / "The January Thaw Cruise"

Stacieps - are you at all worried about flying out Friday? We have a flight with Southwest at 10:05 Friday morning out of Manchester. Weather reports are looking iffy, but they won't talk about Friday's storm until this one is done!

I'm not too worried - we'll get out some time! We are flying out of MHT, but early evening (5:40), as I didn't want the kids to miss an additional day of school. Hopefully the site I just looked at will be right and the storm will be Thursday night, into very early Friday - then things will clear for both of our flights on Friday!

GO PATS, GO PATS, GO PATS!!!!!!! That is all I have to say!!!! :cool1:

Yes, we have snow falling, and ther eis more headed toward us for Friday morning. We are just saying a little prayer that it waits until 7:00, that way we are well into the air at that time!!

Have a great day

Hey everyone!!! I just posted on another thread and they all thought that it was EXTREMLY unusual that we booked a GTY and still don't have a cabin #. Called DCL today to inquire about it and Jake said that there is still no cabin # and that we would have to wait till check in on Sat. to get one.....AND that it could be a good thing that we don't have one yet.....WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!!!!!!!!:confused3 :scared1: :confused3 :scared1: Someone inquired about our lugage tags and they all say GTY on them, pointed out that it will make it difficult for the porters to know which room to take the lugage to. So are we crazy or is this unusual for Disney?
Thanks
Mindi

:surfweb: Wow, I just read my last post and you can really tell I was trying to type and watch the game... oh the typos...

Well, I got a lot of packing done today. We are spending the evening looking over plans and sitting by the fireplace. The puppy must be really tired as she is curled up in my lap sound asleep.

We got a light dusting of snow today, but are supposed to get some more tommrow. We shouldn't have a problem flying out Friday as we have a really early flight so we have pleanty of time for delays. Is anyone flying out Airtran? We are flying out of Indianapolis, and have a connecting flight and lay over in Atlanta. We are staying Friday at the Comfort Inn. Does anyone have suggestions for a good place for dinner?

i think at this point it means keep your eye on the forecast. with a little luck everything will move out by friday

Hey everyone! Just wanted to say hello and let ya'll know that I will be cruising with you guys this Saturday! I am so excited and I am bringing my little one (DD-6 months). I will be flying in from North Pole, Alaska so I don't care if it is chilly because it will be warm to me! It was -36 today! I cannot wait to see the beautiful sunshine and water. Hope everyone has safe travels and see you on the ship!

Oh my, good luck to all of you up in the northeast, I will be thinking of all of you and wishing you safe travels. I have a direct flight from Atlanta to MCO, but as we all know with the ATL airport, problems elsewhere can cause a ripple. I'm not on the very last flight but it's close, I depart ATL at 9 pm. I guess worst case scenario I can catch a very early flight the morning of the cruise (this was too terrifying a prospect for me to book but probably wouldn't be awful if I had to do it just to get there).

Fingers crossed!!

I did lots of packing last night-- thought I wouldn't be bringing more than a few tshirts and shorts but now that it's all laid out, man, it's a lot of tshirts, shorts, capris, skirts, dresses, etc, etc.!!!

Repeat cruisers, here's a question for you-- how often did you wear more than one outfit a day? Here's what I'm kind of thinking-- morning til early afternoon I'll probably be at the pool or beach if in port in a swimsuit and coverup or shorts and tshirt. Might want to change into real clothes for some afternoon activities, then change again into dinner clothes. Will I really be wearing 3 outfits a day? Right now I've got like 4 plain tshirts I could wear with shorts and a bathing suit, 4 cuter shirts I could wear with shorts or capris doing stuff around the ship, an outfit for dinner every night, and a couple of party shirts for dancing in the clubs. About 4 pairs of shorts, 2 pairs capris. So I'm not bringing 3 outfits a day for all 7 days... but am I still overpacking or will this be about right? I don't plan on doing laundry but my sisters will so I can throw some stuff in with theirs if I get desperate I guess :)

Thanks!!

Also, what do repeat cruisers think about bringing a beach towel? Am I wasting packing space? I know they provide these on the ship, but I'm tall and I really like nice long beach towels, will I be able to stack two or three on my lounge chair?

WE GOT UPGRADED!!!!!!!    Bought in at GTY 12 and got placed in a CAT 10 WOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!

I'd save the space and use the towels they have onboard. Also, maybe you'd want to buy a DCL towel on the ship or Castaway Cay, they ARE large.

Autumnlala,

That sounds about right for the clothes...I found myself in a bathing suit and shorts in the AM, then shorts and a tshirt in the afternoon if we wanted to do anything inside, then dinner clothes, then I would change back into shorts or capris after dinner. I did wear the capris and shorts more then once, and would just change the tshirt..

I am trying to pack light, but it really adds up when you also pack for the day before the cruise at Disney and 2 days after...

Bethipooh, I agree, I am packing 5 of us for 3 days prior to cruise at our first stay at POR and a 7 day cruise, Michael is having a fit at what all we need, us girls just need more lugage space than the guyshahahaha!!!!!!!!!:lovestruc

Just remember that the suitcase can't weigh more than 50# on Southwest, otherwise they charge you more!!!!

Michael just called and said he doesn't have to go to work tomorrow and wondered if we could take the 8am flight instead of the 3:45pm flight, Oh it sounds great, but the kids are all taking tests tomorrow morning to make up for being gone. This vacation is getting better all the time!!!!!!! :woohoo: YEAH for my husband:woohoo:

I wish we could move our flight up earlier too, but we can't. I am stuck with flying down Saturday morning and hoping everything is on time. I checked to try to switch to Friday but all of the Southwest flights from Raleigh are booked solid on Friday. Not only that, but our flight and the next two Saturday morning are booked solid now. Doesn't leave much room for error. :) As long as the freezing rain they are calling for on Thursday doesn't get pushed to Saturday hopefully all will work out.

I'm definitely kicking myself (and my wife would like to kick me) for not going down the night before. Next time. :)

In case anyone is keeping track St. Maarten is now showing 89 and some rain on the day we are there. Hottest day showing up now on the 10-day report.
