January 18, 2014 FANTASY 7 Day Western!

Haven't been before, but I was thinking about doing the Chacchoben Maya Ruins Tour with Native Choice. I'm a little nervous about doing a 2 hour non-DCL tour (not including travel time) when we only have 4 hours at Costa Maya. They do get high ratings from DISsers and Trip Advisor and the company claims they adapt the tour length to the cruise timetable and always get their clients back to their ship in time. Still, I haven't quite decided! :confused3 Has anybody else used them before?

Julie

We want to do Chacchoben as well, but I think we are going to stick with DCL for this one. The time is so short and I don't want to miss the boat .
Now for the other two stops I'm not sure what we are going to do. I want to go to Sting Ray city but Dave thinks I'm trying to kill him if we swim with the rays :rotfl: watching too much deadly woman on tv I guess.

I'm doing the DCL excursion to Chacchoben too. I do not have the best time keeping skills, so I feel a whole lot safer sticking with Disney! But if you find a plave that looks reliable and give youself plenty of time to get back to the boat I'm sure you'll be just fine, I know plenty of people do it.

Kirsten - I hope you and your family and friends are ok after all of these quakes down there! Big Hugs!

I would love to go see some of the ruins but I am worried about my daughter on a long bus or taxi ride followed by a long walk for a couple hour visit. Maybe I'll try to do it in a future cruise when I can leave her in the teen club if she doesn't want to go. But I'd love to hear what anyone who goes thinks of it! I'm a geography nerd so people and places are my thing. :-p

Yes, thanks although it was very scary yesterday evening when the 6.8 quake hit. The kids have been very brave. I went into the office yesterday (level 6&7) in the CBD and it is a mess. Broken windows, cracks, and everything from desks on the floor. We have closed the office until the engineers can confirm the building is ok and we can tidy up. Hopefully we will be back in tomorrow morning. Spent some time under the desk at work last night when we were calling staff due to aftershocks - kept thinking about our Disney Cruise as my happy place!!

Oh my goodness! Where do you live? I've been on holiday and haven't been keeping up with the news. I hope you and yours are all ok.

We are in Wellington in New Zealand. Office still closed but hopefully all ok for clean up tomorrow.

Glad to hear you're ok, it must be a horrible thing to go through. Fingers crossed these aftershocks go away and life gets back to normal soon. Stay safe! Keep thinking of that cruise!

Thanks for all of your input on the Mayan excursions. With shorter ports of call, I definitely think we'll stick with DCL Port Adventures. Just makes me feel a bit safer.

:yay:

I have been super busy and not very active on here, but I have been following this thread and the FE thread. I finally got a picture of my family uploaded. We're all dressed up for my daughter's Fancy Nancy birthday party - so no, normally my husband is not wearing a plastic top hat nor do I wear flowers in my hair like that on a normal day. ;)

My 8yo (9 by the time we cruise) Will is on the left. Then me (Noah), Elise (4), my husband (Eric) and Lorinc (6).

Well, realized that we are sailing the week following this cruise so we will not be at this meet and greet.:sad1:

Sorry to hear that you wont be joining us. Have a wonderful cruise the week after! We'll try not to look too upset as we leave the ship for you to get on!

What a lovely family photo! You should totally bring the flowers and the top hat for formal night. :thumbsup2

Hi all, looking forward to joining you! We just booked today for the Jan 18th cruise, we'll be on deck 8 in a 5B room (I can't remember the number off the top of my head). We're also travelling with DSIL, her fiance, and DN 10. So we'll be 4 adults and 3 kids ages 10 (F) 9 (M) and 8 (F).

Sounds like there will be several other kids on board, at least that's what we're hoping! We're second time cruisers, but first time on the Fantasy. We'd tentatively like to join the meet up, but I also have to see DSIL's plans. Would love to see the suite!!!

We don't have any children with us, but look forward to meeting everyone. We are doing our first B2B and I can't wait. Just paid off the first week, now have to get working on this one. Have never done 2 weeks before but feel this is a great way to celebrate our 55th anniversary.

Looking forward to meeting everyone !!!

:welcome: Allison! I love your username! Pocahontas fan? ;)
I'm sure the kids will find plenty of others around their own age on the ship! They always seem to have such a great time. Sometimes I wish I had access to those awesome kids clubs!

We aso have a Facebook page that you can join to keep updated. https://www.facebook.com/groups/452036244866976/

155 days to go!!! :cool1:

We too will be on this cruise and my son will be celebrating his 10th birthday whilst on the ship. It will be the end of a 7 week holiday in the US.

There is myself, DH, DD 10 and of course DS.

Been cruising before through the South Pacific but first time on a Disney ship.

Woo hoo! Sneaking in a weekend at Disneyland before the semester starts. Driving down tonight from northern Cali. Just got in the last of my supplies for FE gifts along with my text books so it's been a good week. Just found the Facebook page, it should be interesting.
