Only a year until we sail!!!! Yikes, it's a whole year until we sail!!!!

Right now, it's -3 outside and there's tons of snow. It's a beautiful day to dream about Castaway Cay and the beaches in St. Maarten.

Let me introduce us (we're on the original post so forgive me for repeating info):

There's my DH (Steve), my DD (Isabel) who will be 9 when we sail and me (Sharon). We live in Michigan. This will be our 6th cruise on DCL - we've done a 4-day on the Wonder, the Eastern, Western, the first Double Dip and the EB Panama Canal sailing this past August.

We love the Eastern itinerary so we booked this cruise while going through the PC and we snagged a SPH room. I thought it was funny that 3 of the first people mentioned on this thread had SPH rooms. There are still one of two left as of the last time I checked our cruise. We're encouraging friends of ours to get one and come along on the voyage.

I'd like to help organize and participate in Fish Extender or Secret Mickey activities if we get enough interest. We don't always make it to all the Disboard activities because we get busy doing other stuff but it's fun to share planning and dreaming about the trip with others who are preparing for the cruise as well.

I hope you are staying warm and having Disney Dreams right now.

We'll be on the ship before we know it!!!! Well...I can pretend, can't I?

It was great! Weather was great for January. Upper 70s to mid 80s everywhere, but Orlando basically. Loved it so much we booked the Eastern for next January.

Aren't January cruises great? This will be our 3rd cruise in January and we've been lucky every time with the weather. Plus, it's great to get out of the cold of Michigan so even the water at Castaway Cay is okay for us!

Just booked this cruise today! I had booked a 4 day the same week - we did one in 2003 - and thought - what the heck! I knew 4 days would not be enough. We have 3 kids - DS 13, DD, 11 and DD 2. I am going to TRY and keep it a secret until we leave. I have never been able to do that so I doubt I'll be able to keep quiet for 11 months. It would be such a great surprise though!

My DS is 13 too (will be 14 by cruise time..if I can get him out of school ) We surprised our kids with the same cruise last year for Christmas. It made a great christmas present. Plus, it was less stressful when it came time to Christmas shop because we knew they were pretty much taken care of. We bought sunblock, sunglasses, buckets, pirate gear, etc. and some "fake DCL tickets" that someone from the "DISigns" boards so kindly made for me. We wrapped it all up in big boxes for the kids to open on Christmas morning. We live in MA so they were very confused when they were opening sunblock while we had a foot of snow outside ! It was very hard to keep it a secret at first, but as the year went on it got easier. It's so worth it when on Christmas morning they find out they are leaving in 3 weeks for a DCL cruise

Well, for our family it'll be: Me....(mom), DH....(Dad), DS 14, and DD 7. We will be with another family which will consist of: Mom, Dad, and twins- DS and DD both 9.

I just booked our 8th cruise this morning, for January 16. We are me, Phyllis, DH, Jim and 16 yo Teenage Drama Queen, Natalie, who will turn 17 right after the cruise. When we cruise, we try to do January, for her birthday and the rates/points are less.

I tried to take advantage of the Castaway Club kids under 17 go free..but it just didn't work out. So, I booked with DVC points. We had a ton of points, as we don't use DVC too much anymore, so it really worked out for us. I was even able to snag our favorite cabin, 7628. Her school is out two days that week, and I guess she'll be sick the other 3...lol She'll have a lot to make up, but it will be worth it.

Just checking in to see who was cruising....I'm sure there will be more later.

Just though I'd let anyone know (who isn't as obsessive as I am about checking the prices of the cruise everyday ) The price of this cruise went down. I am in a Cat 11 with 4 of us and the price went down $260 on Easter morning. It's still down now, but don't know if it'll stay that way. I don't know about any of the other CAT's. Just an FYI !

I just booked this morning. DH (34) and myself (33) decided to use our brand new DVC points (just joined up a couple of weeks ago) on a ten year anniversery cruise/stay at a resort.

I was even able to snag our favorite cabin, 7628.

Looks like we're almost next door to each other, we're in #7624. How's the noise level there? Our first (and only other) cruise was ten years ago on a newlyweds budget. Our rooms were down low and by some sort of thruster that worke us up early every morning.

There is no noise in these cabins. You will love the enclosed verandah.

I see you are from Kirkland, WA. I work for the fire deparment here in Hilton Head Island. The former fire chief here in HHI, was the fire chief in Kirland before he came here. Small world isn't it????

We are looking forward to our cruise...it will be our 8th DCL cruise. We are trying not to get too excited yet. Although we will be celebrating our DD's
17th birthday, we are now waiting for school to be out, she is working this summer and lovin' the money she is making. We are big Harry Potter and TWILIGHT fans...and are eagerly awaiting both movies to come out.

It's not the best time for us to be taking an expensive vacation.

It's not ALL bad though ... we will be able to take more week long trips but just not spending $4K to do one week
