January 11, 2014 Eastern Cruise

2014 is finally here!!! We booked this cruise in December 2012 so I almost can't believe we are just 10 days away!!! Happy New Year everyone!!

We are so excited for the trip but we are also very lucky the day before New Year's my husband had to have two teeth pulled because he got an abscess I cannot imagine if this had happened while we were on the cruise so so thankful that it is happening now.

We are in Alabama visiting our daughter and we are so lucky we found a dentist that would take him on New Year's Eve afternoon and take care of him so he will be back to his normal self when we get on the ship.

See you all soon have a safe trip to Florida everyone!!!

Any updates on the stateroom numbers?

Also, are all of the families on the list still participating?

Thanks!

Rossfamily updated their information on the facebook group. As for Ispst8 I haven't heard from them even through PM. So far everything I know everyone is still participating.

Hello! I've been working on door decorations and came across the DIS site a day ago. We're so very excited for the cruise, but disappointed I've found this forum so late! This is our 2nd Disney Cruise. We did the Western Caribbean in November 2012 and were hooked. Would love to meet up with everyone at 3:00 pm, in 1 week! I, Tricia(41), am cruising with DH(41), DS(9), DS(7) and DS(4 in a couple of weeks). Going to attempt to join the fb page.

I hope everyone is still participating!

I started a thread on the facebook group to have people confirm if they are still participating or not. Also I have updated the list that is pinned there with those who have confirmed say so on the bottom of their information.

Would it be helpful for those not on the facebook group if I made a google document with all of this information?

Ugh, I hope everyone is. I have spent a lot of time getting everything together!!

So far it seems like everyone is. Only a little bit has passed since I've posted it and I've only not received confirmation from two or three families.

Hi,

We are getting ready to set sail with you all on the 11th. I was doing some research and came across this…"Fish Extenders
Fish extenders are totally optional, but they are a really fun way to enhance your cruise. To participate, first find your cruise on the DISBoards forum, and sign up. Then, you’ll need to buy/make a fish extender (here are a bunch on Etsy) to hang on the “fish” near your stateroom door. Finally, you’ll need to make or purchase a bunch of fun little treats for your fellow cruisers." Can someone please tell me how many "fishers" there are on this cruise, what the gifts are and what exactly this is? Thanks in advance!

This group has 19 families/staterooms participating in our Fish Extender exchange. The gifts are up to the individual but each participant is to get the other 18 families/staterooms a gift. The gift can be whatever you like. On a previous cruise I received a personalize water bottle, cruise "survival kit", beach back full of goodies, mickey and minnie coasters, a bottle of rum, magnets for our door included with other goodies, jewlery, etc. It is up to each family. Unfortunately Fish Extender groups do put time lines on when you can join and ours passed on December 1st so we aren't adding any more families. Most groups will set a time to shut off registration so people can plan gifts and budget accordingly without having to stress last minute. Those who have signed up and later confirmed (usually right before the cut off but we are doing a second confirmation just to be 100% sure) buy or make a fish extender and hang it on the fish right outside their door. During the cruise the other participates will drop things off in this fish extender (door hanger with pouches). Depending on your group you are either assigned a night to drop off or simply drop at random. Sometimes CMs and random cruisers will also drop things off in your FE as well since there are some people who don't officially participate but like to give people gifts.

Hi teamdavis!
I see you also came across this board late in the game. I was doing some door decorations research on the weekend and found out about the Fish Extenders. If you are interested in doing an exchange with my family of 5, we would be happy to be involved. If you are up for it, please let me know. I'll check back within 24 hours for a reply. Thanks!

I just found out about fish extenders and would LOVE to participate. We're traveling with another family who will participate as well. Can we jump in at the last minute?

Me (37), DH (37), DS (8), DS (5)

Hi NelsonvilleClan,
That sounds great! I haven't received a reply from the family in my previous post, so I'm not sure if they are interested. As it stands, there would only be your family, the family with whom you are traveling and my family, in our teeny last minute FE. Is that ok with you? If so, could you forward the info about the 3rd family(ages and gender)? There is a facebook group for our cruise if you are on facebook and would find it more convenient and secure. Look forward to your reply!

If you post your information on the facebook I may be able to drop off any extra candy we have. Also if we have anything extra since we are buying in bulk i'll make sure and drop it off at your FE.

This is our first Disney cruise and we are soooo excited. My sons are five and three. Any and all advice/comments are welcome. We are heading to the eastern Caribbean on jan 11th.

Thanks in advance!:cool1:

This is #11 for me and #9 for Natasha.

As far as trading goes, I have a collection of DCL pins that I don't trade -I have them all displayed in an extra room - but in the course of trading you get extras and that makes up what I have for trade.

My only piece of advice if you are going to start collecting/trading, is to pick a theme. there are literally thousands of types and themes you could collect and I gets overwhelming.

Except for a few special pins I only collect DCL. :3dglasses

What a great idea for displaying your pins! I have been looking for some way to see my pins and not have them just in a book.

Thanks!
