January 10-14 2010!!! 4 nights on the Wonder

I did the math for our room too.
We booked a cat 12.
So our per night per person is only $59.18 :thumbsup2 I guess I'll stay on this boat! :) (I was never really going to leave... although a long cruise sounds AWESOME!! and I am very jealous!!!!)

So I thought it would be fun to post some pictures from past cruises.
Here is Shawn and Skylar from last January... it got VERY cold!!!

That's a great price! I remember pricing out some of these 3 & 4 day cruises the night the Kids Free Offer was released, and we found some that were under $1000 for the 4 of us in a Cat 12, which would have put the cost down around what you're paying. Of course by the time I got around to booking all those cheaper categories had sold out!

I love the first picture, but you're scaring me with the weather and Castaway Cay issues. We've only cruised in December and have done the Caribbean both ways, and it was always very hot on the cruises and in port. I live for Castaway Cay, and don't know what I'd do without it on a cruise!

Were they all calculated at the same time of year too? Sometimes that will change the pricing. Thank you for putting this together. When you look at it in that perspective it's a real eye opener. The 3 nights are the most expensive. Who would have thought, but it's also a cat 6. I guess everything is relative.

These were all priced out in September 2009. The 2009 and 2010 prices were obtained the 2nd week of September, and the 2011 prices were from 9/28/09 when the 2011 bookings opened.

I can't for the life of me figure out why that is...popularity??? Higher demand??? It doesn't make any sense to me. The 3 and 4 nights should be the lowest cost. :confused3:confused3:confused3

There have been other posts talking about why the 3 & 4 day cruises are in general higher priced than the longer ones. Part of it is of course demand, which is why everyone correctly predicted that DCL would put it's first new ship on the shorter cruises since the increased capacity would enable them to make even more money!

Not everyone can take a week off work... Or they want to split the week up with Disney World.
PLUS some times $1000 sounds better then $2000 - $3000 even if the per night price is higher.
I know it does for me! BUT I bet that alot of people end up doing back to backs on the new Disney Ship just because they want to spend as much time as they can. :) Not me.. I'll take the discounts they may offer on the Magic :thumbsup2

Didn't mean to freak you out. The cruise right before us had AMAZING weather!!! So it could be hit or miss. The good thing is, no matter what the the weather is your going to have a great time!!!
Our cruise this year was at the END of January. So I bet we'll be one of the lucky ones and get the Good Weather!! :thumbsup2 Just pack a jacket just in case!

Here is a picture from our Nassau day.

See... the weather was very nice. We just ended up getting some sort of FREAK cold front!

PLUS - if you saw pictures from us here in Chicago in July of this year you would think that Chicago was always cold in the Summer. IT'S NOT!! This year was just weird.
But we are sailing in 2010... it should be sorted out by then. :thumbsup2

Hi everyone!! I am really confused about what to pack as well... I am also a little nervous about the food... My entire family is very "plain" eaters, and after looking through all the dinner menu's, I have no idea about what we are going to eat. I am a little more open than dh, but I didn't really see anything that look great to me either... None of us eat seafood. Will we be able to get a plain steak and some fries or baked potato? What about appetizers? Do they have anything normal like mozzarella sticks or plain bread? Help!!!!

I am excited about our stay after though. We are spending two days in Disney before driving home, and I was able to get a great rate on a Moderate with the disney visa 40% off offer. We are staying at CBR for the first time and we booked the pirate rooms. I hope the girls like it!!

Hi,
Is the 40% offer open to public or did you just receive it? We want to stay in Disney after cruise as well.

I know what you mean about the food!! I was having fun experiencing new foods on our 7 night cruise. But around night 4 I was having a hard time figuring out what to eat.
I even asked our waiter... can't I just get pasta with tomato sauce... It was hard eating fancy every night.
He was no help... but since then I have read people here on the Dis having the same problem. The cool thing I have learned is that your whole family can order from the kids menu. :thumbsup2 Their choices are allot 'simpler'.
Your other choice would be to skip the dinning room and get food from the top deck. Nothing is as uncomplicated as chicken strips and cheese pizza!

The 40% off was open to anyone with a Disney Visa Card. The booking code is OIZ... You do have to use your disney visa for payment.

I guess you were never able to get just "spaghetti", lol? We may going to dinner each night for the restaurant atmosphere and eating the fast food joints, lol.

Can you book this online? If so, where do you enter the booking code. I can't find it for the life of me. (It took me awhile to finally find it on the DCL site.)

We just received a PIN code good for 30-40 % off resort hotels on select dates January - April. I was contemplating whether to ditch the 3-day cruise we're doing right before this one to take the kids to WDW instead. But the pin code isn't good for that since those days aren't available. I would have to ditch this cruise instead to take advantage of this offer (but you guys are too much fun to ditch you!), so I wanted to look at the Disney visa offer you mentioned. But I can't figure out where to put the booking code!!

Here's the trick to not eating such fancy food every night....ask for the kids menu. I do even though I don't have kids with me. Then I mix and order off of both menus. They are happy to accommodate. Also if you want something special each night, ask for it the first night and you will have it the following night and every night thereafter. ie., we ordered mozzarella sticks everynight at the table. It's also great for the kids to munch on while they're waiting for their food. Just tell them to bring it right away. Disney is great because whatever you want, they try to give it to you.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

mozzarella sticks!!!! This cruise just keeps getting better and better.

I have no idea how anyone does Disney before getting the valuable information from the Dis first! :thumbsup2

Just booked today! We're in 7022. We just happened to see a picture from our cruise last January on my screensaver and said "boy, that was so fun", looked at each other and just knew we wanted to book again!

Last time we stayed at the Contemporary for a couple of nights first, but this time we'll just stay at the airport hotel (which is really nice!) the night before (coming from Chicago, we worry about travel in January!) and take the bus.

This is our second Disney Cruise. I definitely want to do FE!

Vicki (39)
Steve (37)
Andrew (6)
Ryan (2.5)

Natle - what was your sail date last year? We were Jan 3 and had perfect weather, so I know it wasn't that day!

NYhorsefarm-mom- what kind of horses do you have? My family raised Morgans for 20 years.

We were on the January 29th cruise.
Hopefully we'll have your weather!!! :thumbsup2 They told us that the cruise before us had AMAZING weather.... not sure why they told us that... It seemed like they were rubbing it in.

What an eye opener you have pointed out. No wonder the Dream is going to be doing the 3 and 4 nights. They can charge more and fill it. It's a good deal for DCL.;)
