We made it thru the weekend!! I didn't do as well yesterday as I did on Saturday. Saturday I worked all day and dh and I had a quiet evening at home. Sunday I worked half a day and then had BBQ with the neighbors in the afternoon.

#1 eggwhite scramble in a tortilla, honeydew
#2 BBQ ribs - 5 ribs, 3 glasses of white zin
#3 - :guilty: 15 caramels - they are all gone!! and they ain't comin' back!!!
#4 2 slices of jalapeno cheese, mocha bar, coca cola

I had my breakfast at 8:30am and didn't eat meal #2 until after 3pm. I should have taken something to work to snack on while I was working. It was all downhill after that.

Today's stuff is much better - :woohoo:
70 minute workout - 30 of yoga and 40 of free weights

#1 eggwhite scramble in a tortilla, cranberries
#2 Ranch chix salad in a tortilla, 2 mocha bars

Anna, whenever I have oatmeal I try to have some sort of protein with it - either a shake, sliced almonds or protein powder; otherwise my blood sugar spikes and drops too quickly and I'm craving a chocolate donut an hour later.

I'm just looking forward to getting thru the next couple of years. Teens today seem a lot more complicated than when I was a teen. I hope things are easier with your daugher than they've been with my son!

Amy, I'm ready for this challenge - got an early start - I knew that I'd better or you might POST TO ME IN ALL CAPS!!! I don't want any caps on my thread so I'm getting my act together. Seriously, I am motivated. Thanks for doing the challenge - I'll post every Friday with my weekly totals.

As for when your kids are teens, maybe you'll be able to anticipate their actions. The worst times are between 3 and 6pm and then after midnight. Thank God younger ds usually works until 6pm now. When he was 15 he didn't work that late and he was actually harder to keep an eye on. When my older ds was 15 and had his first girlfriend, I used to drive by his girlfriend's house to make sure the mom's car was out front. I really really hate doing guard duty.

Julie, I can't believe that they haven't finished your nephew's roof. With a new hurricane season coming up they need to have it done. In the newspaper they had a story on two insurance companies that dropped customers before their repairs were completed. Its scary all thats going on. I hope they get his roof completed soon.

I'm trying out the quote thing.

A new month, new week, new attitude. :sunny:

Like you said, made it through the weekend, now get going! :cheer2:

Teenagers - oh what a challenge. My DS 16 can be great, and then he can turn around and be a pain in the ****!

But the girls are the worst. The hormone thing, whiny, moody, etc. My 21 DD was ok for a while, but she's a grouch while school is in. Maybe it will improve this summer! The other DD's are 13 and 11. Hormone city. :scared1:

Way to go on getting in a great workout today! and Thank goodness the carmels are finally gone! :Pinkbounc

Thanks for the advice on protein with my oatmeal. I'll make sure to do that.

I am not looking forward to the teen years. DD#1 should be ok hopefully, but DD#2 - let's just say we already get the mood swings and she is not yet 11! DD#3 - who knows!

I'm glad you got rid of the caramels, even if it was in your stomach... You should have had DH hide them again since you found the hiding spot. I'm glad you aren't going to buy them anymore.

I promise I won't YELL at you about the exercise challenge unless you are really slacking (like me so far :rolleyes1 ).

Food looks much better (minus caramel), great job getting that long workout in! :cheer2:

You guys are all making me paranoid about the teenage years!!! My DD6 is such an angel, she has to be perfect forever!

My weigh in today was 151. I keep thinking about how much worse it could have been. Got in my workout bright and early this morning. 30 minutes of yoga and 50 minutes of walk jogs. I'm not going to fall behind!

Yesterday's meal #4 was Tuna Rotini salad, cranberry juice
#5 one slice of jalapeno cheese

Today's #1 meal was oatmeal w/protein shake mix & blueberries
#2 Tuna Rotini salad
#3 jalapeno cheese slice

Kate, with four kids of those ages you have your hands full! Thats a lot of ages to deal with! You're right - the weekend is over - we're back to our program.

Anna, thank God those caramels are gone! Hopefully, your teens will be easier to deal with than mine were. I have friends who have children who never gave them a moment's trouble - unfortunately that gene does NOT run in my family! Thanks for your encouraging words.

Amy, I should know better - there are certan foods I just can't bring home without bad consequences. I've just got to make sure that my indulgences don't become a regular habit. On Oprah yesterday a lady was on who had a weight problem. She drank 4 - six packs of diet coke a DAY! She slept 18 hours a day and had no energy. Once they took her off of the diet drinks, replaced it with water and a diet similiar to BFL's plan her life transformed. She had energy to workout, her complexion cleared up and she lost 40lbs. She claimed drinking the water helped her complexion immensely but I still think she had to have had some sort of peels, laser or fading cream because the difference in her face was just too amazing. I kinda felt ripped off that this wasn't brought out - however, Oprah asked her about her complexion and she stated it was drinking water so maybe I'm wrong.

Speaking of peels I scared the heck out of dh and ds while wearing my Alpha Hydrox cloth peel. First, dh came home early and I was laying on the bed with it on. He yelled, "What happened?" actually he yelled "WHAT HAPPENED?" (He said he thought I'd been burned!) Two weeks later I had another one on, but out on the livingroom couch. Ds got out of the shower & was walking into his room when I saw him do a double take and yell, "MOM!" His heart must've been pounding because he admitted that I scared him and he's never done that before. He said he thought someone in a Jason mask was in our livingroom! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am ready for this challenge

You are doing awesome with your exercise this week! :yay: And glad that your WI was better than you had expected. With your eating and exercising the weight is going to come flying off again. :thumbsup2

That's funny about the face masks! Must look pretty awful to get that kind of reaction!

That lady probably did have a better complexion from water since she was drinking so much crap before! It just really makes me mad that all these people lose so much weight by making a small change, and here I am busting my butt every single day and can't lose a single pound! :furious: OK, I'm over it...

Great job on all your working out! You are really kicking my butt this month, I better catch up! :teeth:

My workout today was 42 minutes of weights and 8 minutes of yoga.

rest of yesterday's meals
#3 2 slices of toast w/jam
#4 low fat cheese and 8 pretzels, cranberry juice

today's
#1 Palm Beach cereal bar
#2 fruit plate w/chicken salad and 1/2 blueberry muffin
#3 jr whopper and 5 onion rings w/sauce

Anna, having a challenge has motivated me to increase those minutes. I want to meet this goal!

:goodvibes Amy, once your body adjusts from your surgery those killer workouts you've been doing are going to continue to increase your metabolism. Muscle wears more than fat. In a month or so I bet you'll see a difference in those measurements. I can see why your mad - take that weight frustration to the gym - and kick its a** during your class!

LOL about the face masks...gonna have to get me some...love freaking out the dh!!
also, i've noticed a difference in my complexion (sp?) since i stopped drinking cokes.
it's not as nice and new as i'd like it to be, but i don't look like a 16 yr old boy anymore either! i think the woman probably had something done special for the show...
anyway, keep up the good work!! 151 and losing!!!

You are really doing good on your workouts! :cheer2: I'm going to have to work hard to keep up! Ya, I'm not competitive or anything... :rolleyes2

What is Palm Beach cereal? I don't think I've ever seen that one before.

It looks like you have gotten your eating under control. At least you got a Jr Whopper instead of the full-size version!

Keep it up, you'll be back in the 140's soon! :wizard:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Guess I was a little tired when I posted yesterday - South Beach cereal bar. From now on if you see South Beach, Palm Beach, and/or West Palm Beach its all the same thing.

This morning we had an out of town appt so we ran to McD's at 7:45am to eat on the run
#1 Egg McMuffin and 1/2 cinamon roll
#2 turkey round at Subway w/1 cookie

Marie, I've definately gotten my money's worth out of those face masks. Congrats on giving up those cokes - soft drinks are hard to quit.

Amy, its another stress month for me! I can't wait until the third week in May when things calm down. At least I'm conscious of what I'm eating. My eating is improved although it probably doesn't look it.

Yesterday we went to see the new movie about 9/11. Younger ds went with us. He came away with a better understanding of what that date means to us. Its a hard movie to watch, but I felt we needed to see it. After all, its our generations' Pearl Harbor.

dinner: veggie burger w/LC cheese, mocha bar, cranberry juice

Today
#1 LC eggroll dinner
#2 LC Thai chix dinner, mocha bar

Lots of lemon water so far.

Hi Jane,
You are definitely doing great with your workouts. :yay: I am impressed with your control even though you are eating out. Only 5 BK Onion rings :worship: Earlier this week we had to pick up dinner on the way home. The kids wanted BK, but we went to KFC instead. I don't like KFC as much, and I cannot stop with BK onion rings.

Good analogy of 9/11 to Pearl Harbor. I hadn't thought about it that way, but both were a "loss of innocence". I have great reviews about the movie. I want to see it, but will probably wait until DVD. DH and I get out so seldomly. When we do get a sitter, we usually try and go someplace nice for dinner so we can talk without lots of little people chiming in!

Hi Jane,

Hope you're having a good weekend.

I've got a Derby party today, should be challenging with the food!

What are you up to for the weekend?

Looks like your exercise is going well! :sunny:

Well I haven't seen "15 caramels" in your food list lately, so I would say your eating has improved A LOT!!! :rotfl:

I can't wait to see The DaVinci Code. DH was dragging his feet reading the book so I snagged it from him. I can't wait to finish it, it is full of suspense... The next movie we are going to see is Over the Hedge (kid movie). It comes out the same day as DaVinci, but we have the kids and of course they win!

Hope you had a good weekend!

I hate when I wait until Monday to post for the entire weekend - I never remember what I did, ate etc!

Friday dinner: steak, corn on the cob & watermelon, mocha bar

Saturday: 50 minute walk - :yay: :yay:
#1 oatmeal w/apple, oj
#2 spaghetti, veal parmegian, green beans and cake (meal at work)
#3 1/2bagel w/LC lf cheese

Sunday:

20 minute walk
#1 bagel w/LC lf cheese
#2 blueberry muffin
#3 SB diet vegetarian wrap, slice cake
#4 Lasagna, green beans, salad w/vidalia onion dressing (not lf), 3 glasses of wine

#5 butter pecan ice cream w/cake

I didn't fix the lasagna! Sunday night we were invited over to our friends' house for dinner & they fixed it. I had a small piece - she didn't make it very cheesy so I hope it wasn't too bad.

Today:
#1 2 slices of ww toast w/LC lf cheese, oj
#2 turkey wrap
#3 2 mocha bars

Anna, I love those onion rings. The sauce is sooo good! I'd eat them without a burger but they give me stomach aches if I eat them alone. I'm just not used to eating fried foods. I'm the same way with KFC. I never go there - it doesn't tempt me at all.

Kate, the Derby party sounds fun! You've got some great ideas. I had to work and could've kicked myself. I always try to do a "derby day" with my residents for the Kentucky Derby - reading articles, watching a preshow, looking at pictures of horses, discussing horses, & one year I had a family member of one of our residents who owned horses come in and talk with them about it. I totally forgot this year! Dh & I even forgot to watch it this year - too much stuff going on!

Amy, I think that I can safely say that you will NEVER EVER see a caramel or Milk Dud ever listed on one of my threads again!!!!! :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty:
I am losing a filling. Its sideways on my tooth. My dentist is out of town and apparently doesn't have a back up dentist to call in an emergency. I can't get in until next week.

I want to see the DaVinci code too. However, its confused my poor ole mother big time. About 6 months ago she watched a special on television about it. Afterward she told me that she was upset that "they never told us any of this stuff when I went to Catholic school". I told her thats because its NOT TRUE! Its just a story - like science fiction. It scared me that she was actually believing it! I've seen some previews and Tom Hanks looks really different in this movie. It ought to be good.

That is so funny about your mom! Did she read the book? Maybe that might help her realize it is just a story. :goodvibes

Your eating looks way more in control, way to go! :cheer2:

Oh, I wouldn't say the never ever phrase. I always vow to never ever eat Cool Whip right out of the tub, and it always happens... :confused3

DD6 has a cavity and she has to get it filled. They couldn't get her in for 4 weeks! That really ticked me off. I hope she is not traumatized from the experience. I never had a tooth filled until I was in college, and that was bad enough!

For last night's dinner I made quesadillas. They were excellent!

Today -
#1 oatmeal w/apples
#2 cream of asparagus and ham soup, 1/2 blueberry muffin

Family has already started arriving in town for my mom's birthday. I just got back from meeting up with some relatives. Also, I took her shopping and we finally found an outfit for her to wear! Thank God!!!

We're roofless - our barrel tiles are gone! All due to our darned insurance company. Our old company dropped the state of Florida. We got a new company in January. All at once we received a letter saying they were dropping us within two weeks due to our roof.

The roofing company is fitting us in between their planned jobs. Friday they took off our barrel tiles. So now, our air conditioner doesn't work very well. On Friday I was home alone all day; our a/c was set at 76 degrees and it was 81 in here. I figured it was because we were roofless and talked to dh about it Friday night. Well, Saturday while I'm at work he decided that the a/c was broken. He was up in the attic looking at it, phoning our a/c company, & discussing it with a friend. He thought for sure our a/c was broken - he NEVER listens to me!!! This is proof!!! That night I again set the a/c lower and the temp went down. You can't expect an a/c to work well without a roof or venting! I hate to think of him up in the hot attic, checking out the a/c for several hours.

Dh is mad because he loved our tile roof, and we won't be able to get another one. Our roofing company told us there's a backlog for barrel tile orders and it would take 4 months to receive it. I guess there's problems getting the tile because of all the damage due to the hurricane last year. I can't believe it takes them 4 months!! So we're getting shingles but I know we'll miss the insulation. At least we won't have to worrry about getting the roof cleaned and bleached every year.

Today it stormed and our electric went out AGAIN!!! Fun! We're roofless, its raining & we have no electric. Thank God, it went back on within 2 hours this time.

I have the best dh in the world. He took great care of our dog last night. Before he went to sleep last night the dog got very ill and had an attack of diarrhea right by the back door. Dh let the dog out and cleaned up the mess. After cleaning up the mess he brought the dog in and woke me up. We looked her over and then I told him to take her out of our room - she might get sick again. He closed her in the family room/kitchen area. At 4am he went to check on her and there was diarrhea all over those rooms. He cleaned up the whole thing, took care of the dog and didn't bother me with it until 7am! Poor guy barely got any sleep. What a great husband!

Amy, 4 weeks! I was fussin' about 10 days. What is it with these doctors/dentists nowadays? Years ago, I'd get an appointment for the next 2 or 3 days. Mom doesn't really read books anymore - she quit when she hit 83. Its a shame because she was always an avid reader. They had caramel coffee at the restaurant today - its a shame I don't like coffee!

I am so impressed! You have no roof causing bad A/C, rain, a sick dog, need a filling, and no power and you are still in a good mood and ate well! Great Job! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hopefully you will have a roof soon and the other things will be better. I hope your dog is doing better and yes, you definitely do have an awesome DH to take care of everything!!!

Here's :wizard: that your filling goes well.

Has your mom tried listening to books on tape? She might like that.

DaVinci Code looks to be a great movie. It was a fantastic book. By the way, I actually liked Angels & Demons (same author) even more than DaVinci Code. I'd highly recommend it if you are looking for something new to read. :teeth:

Hi Jane

Wow, too much craziness going on there! But you are still doing well. :thumbsup2

And I agree, Angels and Demons was better, I thought.
