Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

I love quesadilla's!! can i come over for dinner too??!! :teeth:

Last summer we were at a Memphis Redbirds baseball game and one of the surviving munchkins threw out the first pitch. I'm not sure which one it was, but it was pretty neat. I've got a picture somewhere that I'll post.(if i find it)

Looks like your doing great on your food....keep up the good work!!
And have fun walking w/ your DIL!

marie

Some of your food looks really good to me. Like the Laughing Cow cheese (did you find that at a regular grocery store?) The Smart Ones Key Lime Pie and of course that chocolate mousse. Can I have that recipe? I guess it's been so long since I've really tried to diet, that some new "diet" items are out there that sound really good :cool1:

I hope your back feels better soon! What a bummer, you were really on a roll with your workouts! Take it easy and make sure you are 100% before you are back to the intensity you were... :grouphug:

That's nice that your DIL walked to come visit you! I bet you like having them so close, especially when the grandkids start coming along! :goodvibes

Hang in there! Your parties and Easter will NOT be the end of you! :teeth:

Yikes I had a bad time with food this weekend! I'm having a hard time trying to remember what I had. Too much snack food and chocolate! I have no control around chocolate! Its driving me nutz!

Friday's rest of meals: lowfat quesadilla, cheez-its, LC cheese & Milk Duds

Saturday: protein shake, SB breakfast wrap (for lunch), M&M's!! - I snacked on them all day long at work. They were the pastel colored Easter M&Ms. I decided that I might as well make this my "free day" and had pizza for dinner.

Today I decided to take drastic measures. So far, I've had two protein shakes. I just can't eat or I'll hit the chocolate.

No workouts to report this weekend. Dh & I were going to do a walk together at the park or beach but he got stuck fixing our sprinkler system. Some of the underground lines were cut, sprinkler heads broken etc. So once he started that - he wanted to get finished. Our lawn was definately lookin' thirsty!

My boss phoned me last week asked me to fill in for her at work on Monday. She said she'd work on Sunday for me if I could work Monday for her. I agreed. While talking she mentioned that she'd been meeting with the regional and corporate boss for our dept all day long. She said she hated it & was worn out. I know how that goes! About 2 years I had to meet with the corporate head honcho with my boss at the time. I enjoyed the meetings, though. Our corporate boss was full of ideas and I learned quite a bit.

Today my boss phones me from work & informs me that corporate & regional bosses are going to be there to meet with our dept again tomorrow. I think the whole reason they're coming is to meet with her - I've been there for 8 years and only work part time. Yikes! Now, I have to go in earlier than I normally do. I kinda wonder if I was set up!

Marie, I love anything spicy - fajitas, quesadillas, taco salad etc. I think thats why I can stick with this diet, somewhat, - the food is good! If you find the picture post it! I'd love to see it.

Bthrsoon, yes my regular grocery store has Laughing Cow cheese. Its in the refrigerated cheese section by the American Cheeese slices. The chocolate mousse recipe is from the Eating for Life recipe book. Its 1 C skim milk, 1 packet choc Myoplex lite, 2T fat free, sugar free pudding mix & 3/4C cool whip lite. You blend the 1st two ingredients on medium speed, add the pudding and blend on high and fold the Cool Whip Lite, then allow to set for at least 30 minutes. Its high protein content helps keep me full. (If you're not using the myoplex, double the protein mix. Amy, from AZ, figured that one out!)

Amy, my back is feeling much better. Sometimes I still get a pain down my arm but not nearly as severe as it was. Just as I start progressing I hurt my back & go crazy with the chocolate cravings. This week started out so well too! Hey, I don't want any grandkids for a long time! Dh & I waited almost 6 years before having any. I hope ds and his wife decide to wait a few more years.

Chocolate is rough, especially since there is so much lurking around because of Easter! You'll get through it! :cheer2:

I tried the EFL Chili Relleno Casserole. It was OK. I am not a big green chili fan, which is probably why I didn't like it more. But DH liked it!

I'm glad you are starting to feel better. It is a new week, you can get back on track! Your parties must be coming up soon, that will be fun!

Last night after I finished posting, dh finished the yard. He was starving and wanted to go to go out to eat. I went. If I wouldn't have gone I would have gone the entire day with just drinking protein shakes. Anyway, we split nachos. I also had two margarita martinis. They were really good!

Today no workout. I had to work & its physically very very tiring. The bosses computers were down so they cancelled for today.

#1 protein shake, #2 apple and protein shake, #3 1 slice of homemade bread, 1/2 apricot jam and 1/2 strawberry, SB cereal bar, one bite of carrot cake, #4 rice crispy treat #5 SB meal replacement bar

I did really well eating UNTIL they made homemade bread at work. :sad1: That just set me up! It was soooooo good. Then as my blood sugar started hiking and falling, I succumbed to carrot cake - but just had one bite. Leaving work I was offered a rice crispy treat. I love those things. I had one. I came home and prompty had a meal replacement bar. I'm just not doing well with food lately.

My daughter in law brought me some pics on her cell phone she'd taken. Two were of me. When am I going to start looking as thin in the pics as I feel in my head?!?

Amy, thanks for trying that chili relleno casserole. You know how I keep saying I'm going to try it almost every week and then don't! Maybe there's a reason why. I like sliced chilis but have never had whole chilis before. I'm still going to fix it one of these days. You're right - we're up to a new week and we can do this!!!

Even with the food mishaps you're doing GREAT!

I don't like green chile, either, and I live in NM!! Here you can't go to McDonalds and get a normal burger unless you order it WITHOUT Green Chile. EVERYTHING has it on it!

Hope you're having a good week!

Wizard of Oz sounds like it was wonderful!!

You have the exact opposite problem as me - I look skinnier in pictures than I feel in my head! I think we are both mentally beyond help... I'm sure you look fine in the photos, you have lost 30lbs! :cheer2:

Homemade bread is SO delicious! At least you had jam on it - I love it when it is warm with butter. :cloud9:

You are still doing great, even though you had a slip-up. It's to be expected! Just do your best to get back on track today. :goodvibes

My morning weigh in was 148.2! I'm still so happy to be in the 140s.

Our neighbors came over at about 7:30pm last night for a casual dinner. We had shrimp & cocktail sauce and they brought over FRIED CHICKEN!! Yikes! I had one bite! Dh went to the trouble of "peeling" the skin off of his chicken. I also had one shrimp so it was a good thing I had the meal replacement bar or I might have gone bonkers. I had to laugh with dh and I both watching our weight I thought that they might bring baked chicken - but no such luck!

This morning I woke up with my back, neck and shoulder pain again. Don't know what I did in my sleep but I'm definately back in pain. No workout today but I did lots of housework. Since ds has changed rooms I'm now working on his old room. Fun! After I scrubbed down the miniblinds and screens from that room I placed them in ds room. I left the door open because the blinds were on the bed & darned if the dog didn't hop up there with them. (Ds been keeping his door closed so the dog doesn't sleep on his bed anymore.) I couldn't believe all the dog hair that our dog left on the bed! :furious: Its so hard to keep everything clean!

Today - protein shake and an apple, protein shake and canteloupe, 4 lf cheese sticks & another apple

Julie, I would probably love the food in NM! I love anything with peppers & spices; however, I've never tried a whole chili so don't know how that would taste! Wizard of Oz was wonderful. I couldn't believe that even dh liked it!

Amy, thats a good thing - looking skinnier than you feel! 12 more lbs and maybe I'll feel the same way! You don't know how tempted I was to have that bread with butter. One of my coworkers grabbed the butter first thing & slathered it on. Believe me I thought about it but I'm glad I compromised and went with the jam. I definately want to stay on track!

Woohoo!!! Yay on the 140's! :cheer2: :cool1: :thumbsup2  :woohoo:

Bummer on the back pain... :headache: I hope that gets better for you soon. Are you sleeping weird? Do you need a new mattress/pillow?

That is so funny that you peeled your chicken. What did your neighbor think about that?

Sounds like you are laying off the chocolate - great job! :cheer2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Today, dh asked me to show him how to make oatmeal. He said he wanted some the other day and didn't know how to make it! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Another no workout day. Although I did watch a couple of fast walkers walk by while I was washing the windows. It made me feel :guilty: I've been busy getting the house fixed up but did finish my workout/cat/dog room! Its nice to have all of my books, weights & my total gym in one place. All of my workout stuff was so scattered - some in the garage, books in the bookshelf in the office or in the closet, weights in ds old room - now everything is placed together! I'm going to 86 the cardio glide machine. It just doesn't give me a good workout anymore. I don't have a tv or dvd in the room yet - I'll still have to do those workouts in the livingroom or my bedroom. The cat & dog each have a pet bed in there on top of a new rug that I bought today. Everything matches for a change! :teeth:

#1 oatmeal w/apples, raisins, cinnamon & nonfat milk #2 cereal bar, #3 birthday party food - cheeseburger from the grill, potato salad, cole slaw, Caribbean salad, coke, 12 caramels - but no cake and ice cream

For the birthday party, I made a variation of the Caribbean salad from the EFL book. I did not use any chicken just the fruit & veggies. It turned out well. I brought lowfat dijon dressing and a full fat orange poppy seed dressing. I used the low fat - no sense in wasting calories on something as mundane as salad dressing! By the end of the evening the salad was gone!

Amy, dh peeled the chicken - not me! I had one bite with everything. Our neighbors didn't comment but they knew that I had eaten a meal replacement bar and that both dh & I are trying to eat healthier.

My neck/back is feeling better today. Yesterday was constant pain. I think that I must've turned weird in my sleep. I'll just take it one day at a time but I may wait until next Monday before resuming my workouts. Aacck!! I'm still doing lots of work - just not working out. Today dh and I moved out all of the furniture that had been in ds old room so I could scrub the floors, corners, closet doors, walls (I had to wipe off the cat's footprints from when we had the room painted). Tomorrow OUR room is getting a scrub down!

Please tell me this isn't the instant kind you just pour hot water on! :rotfl:

Glad to hear your neck is getting better. You are really getting some spring cleaning done! That counts as a workout - I bet it gets you sweating! :teeth:

I will have to try the Caribbean salad, since I love all things tropical. Sounds like you did great at the party. Well, except for the 12 caramels (been there, done that!), but I bet those 12 caramels were still less calories than cake-n-ice cream! :thumbsup2

You will be able to get back into regular workouts soon. I injured my shoulder somehow, so I will be slacking right there with you for the next few days! :goodvibes

The caramels are haunting me. I bought 2 bags for an Easter candy recipe. Between yesterday and today I ate one whole bag! :confused3 :guilty: :sad2: And now I feel ! My stomach and head both hurt. I started eating them yesterday while making the salad to take for the party - I had 4 then. When we got home I had 8 more. Today was even worse - I'm doing spring cleaning and in between my chores - I'll grab 3 or 4 caramels. I think thats how I got fat in the first place. The work/reward dilemna. I have got to get a different reward. It reared its ugly head when I was doing this housework. If I'm out and about it doesn't do me in. My main difficulty is that nothing feels as good as chocolate/caramels taste! (Except maybe being thin!)

Today I cleaned my room. God, how does it get into such awful shape?! The animals sure don't help. Besides the usual routine of cleaning windows, screens, walls, floors etc. We took apart the bed - I was able to vacuum under the bed, dust the insides of the side rails etc. I bought a new comforter set so the trick is when dh gets home to remember to put the new dust ruffle on. Knowing me I'll probably try to put the bed together before he gets home. I can't stand having everything all over the place. I'd rather work with my sore neck - hopefully not make it worse - and get everything done.

#1 oatmeal w 1/2 banana and 1T coconut (high in fat but its so good) skim milk

#2 1 cereal bar
#3 2 lf cheese sticks and 1 apple

Tonight I'm grilling chicken and throwing it in a salad.

Amy, it was the oldfashioned oats. :stir: When we were first married we used to make old fashioned oatmeal all the time. See what 2 kids and 26 years does to a guy!

Oh no! I can't believe your joining me on the infirm list. I hope we both get better quickly. Its such a bummer, & I feel stupid because I didn't do anything big or dangerous to get into this shape. Mine all started by reading a book and was followed up by sleeping crooked - what next? I hope your reason is more dignified than mine!

hope you're feeling better soon. you are doing great on the exercise....i envy you!!
you're the caramel queen, i'm the whopper queen.....love those darn little things....they're addicting!!

oh, we use the instant oatmeal.....i don't know how to do the old fashioned kind...my dh is a better cook than i am....plus i'm lazy!!!

keep up the good work!!
marie

Are you feeling better today? You ARE the Caramel Queen!

It is amazing how dusty the house can get! Especially in all the nooks and crannies that you only clean a couple times a year... Just think of how sparkling clean your living space is now! :cheer2:

I think you learned your lesson about the caramels and you will be back on track today! :cool1:

Another day of part time work and full time cleaning - more windows and screens. Yesterday I vacuumed so much that I broke the vacuum and dh fixed it for me. The same dh that I made fun of for not knowing how to fix oatmeal! :rotfl2: That'll fix me - now we're even. I can't repair vacuums, and he can't fix oatmeal.

I feel really bad about the animals. They love going into our bedroom and sleeping on our bed. NOw that I 've got a new comforter set and the room all sparkling clean, I really don't want them in there anymore. I feel bad but I LOVE having my room dust free & pethair free. Everytime I go in there I close the door behind me so they can't get in. I miss snuggling with my furbabies but then again I want my room back!

#1 oatmeal w/ apples, raisins and nonfat milk
#2 cereal bar
#3 party food - candy, cookies, punch
#4 lf cheeese & 1 banana
#5 steak and peas - I grilled out tonight - marinating the steak in salt, pepper, garlic and A1 garlic sauce - pretty good - dh really liked it.

Last night after I posted I had several slices of jalapeno cheese. The other night when I had a coke at the birthday party, I thought that I'd never get to sleep. I hate coffee so I'm not used to the caffeine. I was up until 2am!

Thank you, Marie. My teenagers never liked the old fashioned oatmeal. At that time I always bought the instant flavored oatmeals - that was all they'd eat and they each liked different flavors.

Amy, I agree with the dust statement - its everywhere. And ceramic tile shows every bit of dust, pet hair, sand & dirt! If I don't vacuum or swiffer almost every day I'm in trouble - mostly because of the pets! Did I mention that I gave the other bag of caramels to dh & asked him to hide them from me? I've decided not to make the recipe using them. Its just too tempting.

Congratulations on staying in the 140!!! That is awesome!!!! I am hoping to join you there again really soon!

How's the shoulder feeling? I know what you mean about furbabies in the bedroom ours have decided that they like waking us up at 2, 3, 4, and 5 to play which I'm sorry but is way to early so they get booted out. I miss the one curled at my feet and the one curled up at my head but I need the sleep!

I guess I am mean to my little darling :dog: because he is not allowed on the furniture! But since that's all he's ever known, I don't think he knows what he is missing...

Great job getting rid of the caramels! :cheer2:

We have wood floors and that is even worse than tile. Every little puppy pawprint shows and there are always dust bunnies coming from somewhere! I only sweep/mop once a week - it's a losing battle to try to stay on top of it every day. There is more to life than having sparkling floors!

I hope you have a great Easter and are able to behave with all the goodies! :wizard:

I can't wait until Monday!!!!! :teeth: I'm not doing well food wise - too much candy. I could give a whole rundown but basically my meals look terrific and snacks horrendous. Except for my kitchen and family room my house is clean!!!  Tomorrow morning I'll finish those rooms and I'll actually have a clean home!

Beth, my shoulder is getting much better. I feel bad about my furbabies. Today after work I was in and out with shopping & cleaning. I've been keeping my door closed - for a change. Anyway, I ran into my room, then came back out for about 5 minutes when I ran back in I realized I had neglected to close my door - the dog and cat were side by side laying on my bed looking at me. I feel like such a meanie!

Beth, as for the 140's I hope I stay there! This week has been one tough tempting week for me!

Thanks, Amy! You have a happy Easter too! I've NEVER made a ham before! :bitelip: My hosting holiday is usually Thanksgiving but I was blessed with this one too this year! We're having about a dozen people over - but I spoke with a coworker today who is hosting about 30!!! Guess I don't have anything to worry about.

:hourglass I am really looking forward to Monday!!!!!
