Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

Hi Jane-

Wow, you are doing so great recently. Yay on reclaiming the tag! Keep going!!!

Hi Jane!

Wowsa! you're doing great on your new plan! :goodvibes Congrats on the 25 lbs, and on keeping on with the program. Sounds like it is really working for you.

BTW, I'll cheer on the Colts too, since the Bengals are out due to the Steelers. Still upset over that one!

My life is sort of settling into a routine with DH's differnt work schedule. I just have to make time for workouts when I can, and not get too discouraged when life gets in the way!

Hope to stop by more often. :sunny:

Thanks for stopping by my journal. You look like you are doing really well. I like your meals, so simple, yet filling and tasty. That's what I need to do, go back to simple full flavored meals.

You asked about YC. We loved it. By far, it is my favorite of the Epcot resorts in terms of theming and if ever they build villas there, then I will be first in line to buy membership. I love the darker woods, the luxurious feel of the lobby and yet it is so quiet and relaxing. Something you don't get at home. The rooms were really nice as well, they have a nautical theme to them. I love shopping in the gift shop there and the boat launch is much closer to YC than BC, if you want to travel that way. Not to mention, it is hard to deny the wonderful smell of the Yachtmans Steakhouse (which we are going to do when it is just DH and I). Of course, sharing all the amenities that BC has is also a plus. But, I am partial to all of the Epcot resorts. Anyway, I would highly recommend.

Have a great evening. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Week #3!!! We've made it!!!

This weekend went by very quickly between working in activities with my Alzheimer's residents during the day & the football games in the evening. Both of dh's teams lost this weekend. First, the Colts lost & then the Bears. :sad1: My third default team is the Pittsburg Steelers. I was born in Ohio and it was either the Browns or the Steelers we cheered for as I was growing up.

I hope I can remember what I ate.
Saturday's workout: 30 minutes of timed jog/walks. I love jogging. I just hope I don't get any heel spurs back. I'd do this everyday if I could.

Meal#1: protein shake, apple
Meal #2: two lf string cheese
Meal # 3: oatmeal w/apple &nf milk, 1 lf string cheese
Meal #3: LC peanut butter mud pie (I had a sweet tooth.)
Meal #4: salmon patty, 2 mocha bars (told ya I had a sweet tooth.)

Sunday: no workout

Its also my free day. I'd been wanting a cheese pizza from a local Greek restaurant. Their pizza is really full of flavor & has different cheese & spices than the regular pizza places. I love'em - dh hates 'em. Anyway, while I was at work, dh ordered & picked up a small pizza for me & then went to Chili's & picked up the chicken fajita nachos.

Meal #1: protein shake
Meal #2: 2 homemade M&M cookies
Meal #3: LC cabbage roll meal
Meal #4: 2 more homemade M&M cookies
Meal #5: 5 slices of pizza & 2 nachos, 3 glasses of champagne

I didn't know there were going to be homemade M&M cookies at work. They are one of my favorites. At least I wasn't tempted on Saturday with those little goodies.

My Monday workout was lower body. It still only takes me 30 minutes. (Upper body has more exercises & it takes me 45 minutes.) Last week I got messed up. I was supposed to do lower body 2X & I did upper body 2X. This week I'm going to reverse it so I'll be back on track with my schedule on Wednesday. I've got everything down in black & white & then did my workout without checking on my schedule.

meal #1: protein shake
meal #2: protein shake

Amy, I can't believe that I'm FINALLY getting close to those 140's. Today I weighed in at 153 but Tuesday's weigh in is the one I "count". I found that I need 24 hours between my official weigh in & the weekend! As you can see, I can't face down an M&M cookie and win. Hopefully, those won't be around work anymore.

Heather, I was excited about getting to reclaim that tag. I thought I'd be without it for a few days but apparently the holidays had other plans for my weight. Its been quite awhile.

Kate, thanks for stopping by. I was wondering how you were doing. Hope the new schedule works out ok for you. Thanks for helping me cheer on the Colts. Its too bad they're out. They had a phenomenal year.

Lesli, I would love to try YC. I've never been over to BC or YC just seen them from across the lake. I've read so many positive things about them I'd love to stay there. Thanks for the great review. It makes me want to book a room now for the wine festival.

Beth, as you can see I really got my calories worth out of that free day! Between the pizza, nachos, M&M cookies & champagne I don't feel a bit deprived!

You are like me on the free day - get it all out of your system! At least you waited until Sunday for your alcohol... I agree on the weigh-in (mine is on Wednesday). I think that as long as the trend on a whole is going downward, that is what we should shoot for!

You are doing great sticking with all your workouts! I bet you will weigh less than I do by the end of the 12 weeks since I will be taking a cruise towards the end...

150.8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Almost to the 140's!!!

I made it thru another day!

Yesterdays Meals 2-4 were also protein shakes. After my calorie filled free day I thought my digestive system needed a break! I also had a glass of lemon water between meals #3 &#4. Friends gave us those lemons & they were wonderful. They had much more juice than the grocery store ones. Unfortunately, I used the last one yesterday & today was back to the grocery store lemons. It takes me 2 store lemons to get the juice of half of one of their lemons.

Also I made a TON of homemade orange juice from our tree last week. Unfortunately, today I have to throw out one quart that has gone bad. I thought for sure we'd drink it all. I should have frozen it.

Today's workout was 30 minutes of timed jog/walks. On Thursday I get to move up to a little more strenuous jogging workout. Baby steps..... My neighbor caught me finishing up my walk and invited me over. We had a nice visit while I cooled down. She walks everyday but doesn't jog and has been encouraging me.

Since I was going to only drink protein shakes yesterday, I told dh to get in whatever he wanted for dinner. I'd done great all day and in he walked with SPICY CHICKEN WINGS!!! and red potatoes. He was so happy with his selection - he couldn't wait to eat - I took one look and told him I was going into the other room before I got tempted. Yes, I did resist. Then he woke up with a stomach ache!! :rotfl2: This morning he couldn't eat breakfast. He told me he's going to have to start eating like I do.

Meal #1 eggwhite omelette, oj and water w/glutamine
Meal #2 2 tuna wraps on small corn tortillas, celery stick

Amy, I bet you can't wait for your cruise. That gives you another goal to shoot for. You've been doing a great job staying on BFL and with those amazing workouts. I'm doing my darndest to try and catch up to you but I've got a long ways to go!

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!! That is GREAT!!! :jumping1:

Getting that scale was the best thing you could have done, look at how much weight you've lost since you got it... :teeth: Just teasing, you know it is because you are seriously kicking some butt this year! ::yes:: Great job resisting the chicken wings. How ironic that your DH had an upset stomach the next day! Maybe he'll think twice next time! :scratchin

Day #3 - We're doing this!!

Back to yesterday's food:

Meal #3: 4 giant shrimp w/ cocktail sauce w/extra horseradish, 1/2 baked potato w/lf cheese, celery

Meal #4: round steak out on the grill - it was one of BFL's approved steak selections

I was full so I didn't eat anything with my last meal - except 2 stalk's of dh's asparagus.

This morning the scales read 150.0!!! It looks like I'm heading in the right direction! I was a little worried about that steak.

Today's meal:
#1 - protein shake

Workout: 25 min bike ride & 25 minutes of lower body weights. For some reason, I just can't get 45 minutes out of this weight workout so I decided to throw in some bike riding.

Amy, love those toothy grinned smiley people! Something has definately kicked in for me in '06 that wasn't there in '05! Thanks for cheering me on!

I think as long as you are working out with weights and doing cardio, you will succeed, which you are already! So don't worry about what the book says, do what works for you!!!! :goodvibes

My friends brought over a big bag of lemons from their tree and it is so funny you mentioned the juice because I could not believe how much juice I squeezed out of one! I made lemon chicken and it was sooo good! I'm not a huge citrus fan, I wish I could grow an apple tree in my yard! :flower2:

I am happy to be your :cheer2: and I'm sure you know I am equally as appreciative for all your support!

Hi Jane :) Congrats on your weight loss! Sounds like you're doing great. I'll have to stop in here for motivation.

BTW, I was reading your first post in this journal. That bowling is a dangerous sport! I hurt my finger bowling and it took months to heal.

Keep up the great work!

Hey Jane - you're doing great!!

Wish you could have sent the OJ up this way - I could have used it to cheer me up this morning as I cleared snow off of the cars!! :cold:

We're over halfway thru week #3!!!!! My weight today was 150.2.

My daughter in law phoned me this morning after my jog/walk & asked to walk over for a visit. (She's trying to tone up & stay healthy for the new year.) We had a great time talking about diets & workouts. It helped to keep me on track for another day.

Today's workout was 20 minutes and only 20 minutes of walk/jogs. Yesterday my heel felt a little sore upon waking up in the morning, so I didn't want to push it. I did increase my jogging minutes. With my mp3 player those 20 minutes fly by.

Last night I watched the Biggest Loser Special Edition. I love those shows. Its great to see what workouts & diet programs they use.

Food for the past two days:
Yesterday - w/ meal #1 I forgot to add in my banana
Meal #2: tuna on 2 corn tortillas, lf cheese, strawberries
Meal #3: 2 lf cheese sticks, celery
Meal #4: big salad w/tuna, lf cheese
Meal #5: 2 lf cheese sticks

Today:
#1 protein shake, strawberries
#2 baked potato, lf cheese, shrimp

Amy, that lemon chicken sounds good. I love chicken & grouper piccata. I agree with the apples. When I lived in Virginia for a short time they had the best apples & walnuts too. I never did like the hard cider though. Thanks so much for your support. It means alot to me. You know how hard the past two months were for me diet-wise.

Carissa, thanks for stopping by. What really makes me mad about my bowling injury is that there were all these older people bowling in leagues all afternoon. I couldn't keep up with the seventy year olds! Glad your finger finally healed.

Kate, so sorry you had to shovel your car out of snow. Thats one tough workout! :sunny: Sending pixie dust & oj your way.

That is so nice that you had some good healthy conversation with your DIL! I'm sure she enjoyed it just as much as you did. I can't believe you are so close to 149! You will be there next week for sure! :Pinkbounc

Have you tried Butter Buds on the baked potato? I bet that would be better than a plain, boring one. I can't eat them without loads of sour cream, therefore I have been sticking to sweet potatoes w/cinnamon. Much tastier!

You are doing awesome, I bet you can't wait until you are in the 140's!

WARNING WARNING - DON'T DO INFOMERCIALS!!!

Today is a review of a new shapewear product I bought. I got my Slim 'N Fit in the mail yesterday. There are pros and cons. The Slim 'N Fit is an undergarment made of nylon that holds you in from above the knees to above the waist. I'd bought a similiar product at Ross about 4 years ago made up of nylon and spandex for about $10. It works well. It holds me in but I can only wear it for about 4 hours before it starts feeling too tight. Also, when wearing some of my tighter jeans you can see a line on my upper leg where the garment leaves off. Thats why I thought Slim 'N Fit would work better - its lighter material.

The original garment that I have makes my size 12 Walmart jeans fit loosely. When I wear it, I have to wear the belt that goes with my jeans to hold it up. Without the garment I don't need a belt.

First of all I had problems when ordering the Slim 'N Fit. They kept trying to sell me more. They told me it would take 4-6 weeks for delivery. I was pleasantly surprised when it took less than 2 weeks. I tried it on & it fits well. My daughter in law was over and commented on how much better my jeans fit, specifically my rear end looked smaller. However, after wearing the Slim 'N Fit for a few hours I found that it rides down from above my waist, especially if I'm walking. The nylon doesn't stay put as well as the nylon/spandex does.

Now for the ''how can I be so stupid" part. The gimmick was buy one pair for $39.90 get a second pair for S&H. Stupidly, I went for it. The weight of the package with both garments was 11 oz. The S&H came to $19.90. They also charged tax of $4.19. The total for the two garments came to $64!!!!! Ouch! I could buy something from Victoria's Secret for that price!

My workout today was upper body.

Meals from yesterday:
#3 lf cheese sticks, 2 mocha bars
#4 chicken fajitas - ds and his wife were over for dinner last night. She spent the day here & ds came over at 8pm to pick her up and have dinner with us. I cooked the chicken and peppers on the grill. They were really good. Mine were without cheese.
#5 1mocha bar

Today:
I had a ton of things to do this morning. I didn't eat until almost noon.
Meal #1 - banana slices & blueberries, eggwhite omelette burrito - dh loved this!

My weight today was 150.2.

Amy, in what section of the grocery store are Butter Buds? I looked in with the refrigerated butter section & also in the spice section & couldn't find it. I asked a cashier as I checked out but she hadn't heard of them. Where are the stock guys when you need them? The sweet potatoes are a good deal right now so I'd like to get them & see if I like them with the Butter Buds as opposed to just cinnamon.

I can't wait until I hit the 140's too. Just 3 more oz!!!

Hey Jane!! You are doing great! Look at that Valentine challenge

I have a suggestion on the sweet potatoes. A friend gave me this idea and I like it. Do you like black beans? I sometimes will split open my sweet potato and pour part of a can of black beans over it (I warm them first) then some salsa. Pretty tasty, filling, and you get your sweet potato, a little protein from the beans, and I like spicy things, so the salsa gives it a good taste too.

Have a good weekend! :sunny:

I weighed in at 149.6 today!!!!!!!! party: My official weigh in isn't until Tuesday but its great watching the scale go in the right direction! I'm so glad that I'm out of the 150s!!!

I was just checking out the BMI calculator. According to the calculator when I was 180lbs I was obese. At 149.6 - I'm overweight. When I lose 4.6 more lbs I'll be normal! I can't weight.

Yesterday's meals from yesterday
#2 - chicken fajita, mocha bar
#3 - asparagus (steamed & cooled in ice water) with a lemony mayo dip - delicious, 4!!!!! lf cheese sticks - once I started on the cheese sticks I couldn't stop.

Today's workout. I did 25 minutes of cardio using my step, jumping jacks, pushups, jogging & a bit of tao bo.

Kate, great idea. I think I'd actually like the black beans and salsa in a regular baked potato too. I'll have to try it with a sweet potato. I love anything spicy. Thanks for cheering me on!

Ooh, I like the new smilies! :thumbsup2 I could have used this guy :furious: when I was dealing with SS... Sorry to get so :offtopic:

GREAT NEWS on being in the 140's!!!!!!! :rainbow: You are doing such a great job! ::yes::

Butter Buds are in the spice aisle and you have to look carefully. I searched for several minutes last time I had to buy them. They are in a container with a yellow cap. They also make Molly McButter, which I have not tried, but I'm sure it is the same kinda stuff.

At least you splurged on cheese sticks instead of chocolate chip cookies or something! How much have you lost since you started BFL? I am so envious! :p

Day 7!!!!! Getting ready for a new week. Thought I'd post before we leave.

I messed up last night when we went over to friend's. They had all kinds of snacks - chips & dip, salsa & tortilla chips, veggies, & cheese. I avoided the chips & dip but went way overboard on the cheese. I love hot & spicy jack cheese. They also had sparkling wines which I love. Suffice it to say I'm not 149.6 anymore.

Yesterday's meals
#1 oatmeal w/apple & 2 veggie sausage links

#2 homemade southwestern soup (with my fajita leftovers) - it was good & HOT!

#3 more soup, 2 string cheese

#4 (at friends) lots of spicy jack cheese, veggies & onion dip, 3 glasses of sparkling wine and one 7 up. Ouch!!! I don't even want to think about the fat gram count.

Amy, I'm so glad that SS is straightening out everything & that name change is comiing thru. You've been very patient with them. Let's hope the rest goes smoothly.

Thanks for the Butter Bud directions. I'm sure I've seen them before. I looked and looked. Hopefully one of the stock guys will be out next time. They know where everything is.

Kate, I love the new smilies too! With all of the snow shovelling you're going to be in great shape!
