Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

I felt fine today. I woke up first thing & got in my 23 minutes of jog walks. That was so weird yesterday. I felt energetic until getting home. It came upon me quickly & by dinner time I wasn't sick just really tired.

also yesterday I had two mocha bars after my soups

Today's meals
#1 breakfast burrito w/eggwhites, 4 strawberries

Tracy, thanks for stopping by. I'm just happy to report that I'm feeling good.

Amy, I'm back on track! I just hope you get feeling better. You've had a rough week.

That is weird, I wonder what could have caused that little mini-bug. It had to be what you ate just didn't agree with you. I am glad you are feeling better! :woohoo:

Isn't it nice to be back on track? I bet you will be steadlily in the 140's by the end of the month. Let's see those numbers! :cool1:  :cheer2: :yay:

You still feeling ok today? I hate those types of bugs where you feel fine horrid fine all in a few hours.

I woke up this morning & forgot that I had been scheduled to go in and help my new coworker clean out the activity closet. As a result I didn't get in my planned workout, but I am worn out from all the organizing. I'm just glad its done!

Last evening ds & his wife came over for television. I started out well. I fixed tortilla soup for everyone, but then I had to add chips, salsa & guacamole. I ended up eating salsa and chips.

I haven't eaten anything today. My coworker asked if I wanted to go get a bite to eat but I wanted to get home to finish up some work. Dh & I are supposed to go out this afternoon.

One of my coworkers that I don't get to see very often because of my schedule, mentioned that she could tell that I was still losing weight. That made me feel good. At least it still shows.

Amy, I'm so glad that I'm getting back on track. I'm just going to have to stay away from fried foods from now on.

Beth, yes I'm still feeling better. Whatever it was I don't want it back!

That is great that you are still getting compliments! :thumbsup2

How did you do when you went out yesterday? Chips-n-salsa seem to be an all or nothing kinda food. It's hard to ration them out... :rolleyes1

I woke up today with pain in my upper left back, shoulder, neck area. It must've been from cleaning out that darn closet! No workout for me today.

Yesterday's meals

#1 (ate late) LC cabbage roll dinner
#2 at movies ate 2, $1 chocolate bars from the bank
#3 dh & I went to Chili's. I split an order of chicken fajita nachos with him - drank water.

Today
#1 LC turkey dinner
#2 pizza (2 slices)
#3 pizza (2 slices)

I stopped by to visit Mom & picked up a pizza. We both loved it. I had two leftover slices for my dinner while saving a few slices for dh. It wasn't as bad as the pizzas I used to get. I used to order the pan Hawaiian which is full of dough & cheese. This was a thin & crispy supreme. I should have stuck with a veggie pizza but can't stand mushrooms.

Dh & I saw the best movie, End of the Spear. I'd read one of the biographical accounts that has been written about this incident. Its an excellent movie, even dh loved it. I told dh & his wife that they should go see it. She's probably read one of the books about it too; although, ds never did.

I don't know what it is with me eating like I have been. I think I'm sick of cooking good, healthy meals!

Amy, I'm hanging in there. I wasn't that bad at Chili's - the movie theater did me in! :guilty:

It is hard to make changes. The BFL way of eating has not become a habit for you yet. You will get back on track next week! You did great at Chili's by avoiding the Long Islands... :thumbsup2 As for the candy bars - I think you should move all your accounts and switch banks to a non-candy selling branch! :rotfl:

Starting on Monday, pretend like you are starting BFL for the first time. Remember how exciting it was? You can do it, hang in there! :yay:

DON'T GIVE UP just because you fell off the wagon. One bad week will not do you in, it's when that one week becomes one month, etc. It's not too late to succeed! :cheer2:

Hey Jane!

Glad to hear you're feeling better from the weird bug you had.

Doesn't that make you feel great when someone not only notices but takes the time to give you a compliment? WTG :thumbsup2

I've had a candy/bad eating spell myself lately. Not sure why, but it seems like it just happens now and then. I think for me, if I talk about it, and realize it is just temporary, then I make an effort to get back into the good habits. It helps me to pull out old photos and keep reminding myself it would be very easy to get back where I was, and I certainly don't want that!!

Have a good weekend. Enjoy the SB party. I'm sure you'll have better weather than here, it's snowing today!!!

I'm going to think ahead to Monday! I've just been awful this past week. I feel stressed out for some reason.

Back in the 80's we lived in Tarzana, CA. I went to a birthday party for my neighbor's son's first birthday. My neighbor's father looked so familiar to me. I knew I'd seen him somewhere but couldn't figure out where. Two days after the party I went over to my neighbor and asked him why his dad looked so familiar. I knew I had seen him before. It turned out his dad was Al Lewis aka Grandpa Munster. I was sorry to learn about his death today. Hearing of his death reminded me of that party a long time ago.

Don't ask how I'm eating. I'm looking to the future. My weight today was 151.2. Also, no workout today. My back is feeling much better but I'm still kind of headachey. Dh & I both had stomaches last night.

I bought flank steak for tonight which we're going to cook out on the grill with some peppers.

Amy, you noticed. I traded in my Long Islands for chocolate! It must've helped because I'm still weighing in the 151 range. I'm just looking ahead to Monday. I have no idea what happened to me this week. I'm NOT giving up just because I've fallen off the wagon. I'm just being dragged behind the wagon for now.

Kate, the old photos do it for me too. All I have to do is look at my pictures from my sons wedding & its triple motivation. I can do this! Sorry to hear about your bad weather. I'm looking forward to the Superbowl party but don't want to go crazy with it either.

I hope you are back to feeling 100% soon!

You haven't done too much damage if you are still 151! I know you will get right back into BFL on Monday and you will be back in the 140's in no time! :cheer2:

I am a little nervous about the party - I really want to enjoy myself but withing reason. That is always so tough! I hope you have a great time!

AAaaccckk!!! I was too sick to go to the party. :guilty: I ached all over and had a bad headache. I knew there was no way I could last for 5 or 6 hours, especially with all of the football cheering & jeering. He called me a couple of times during the game & it was definately noisy there. In fact, the first time he phoned me during the first quarter I was sound asleep. It just wasn't my day to visit Margarittaville. They sent him back with enough chili to make about 3 or 4 bowls. I don't know what's been the matter with me. Dh said he hasn't been feeling all that well either.

Go Steelers!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Dh came close to winning $25 at the end of one of the quarters, if they would have gotten a field goal he would have won but lady luck wasn't with him.

I saved part of the bean dip I made for the party to eat at home for dinner with tortilla chips. That dip had alot of sharp chedder cheese in it. It can't be good for me. I also had some Dove chocolates. Today I weighed in at 153.3. I'm still afraid to eat. Just water to drink of course.

Today's workout was upper body.

Amy, I hope you had a great time at your party. I'm so glad that you were able to pick up your children before the game. Now we can focus on BFL again! Its back to the basics.

Are you feeling better today? I hope so! That really stinks that you missed the party you were looking forward to! Oh well, there will be others, right? :teeth:

How did yesterday go? Were you back to healthy eating? It might take a couple days - I think it's really hard to stick to plan when you feel like you got run over by a truck...

I'm feeling better today, finally. I woke up and did my jog walks without any problem.

My weigh in today was 150.6. Yesterday I didn't eat until late in the afternoon.

#1 bowl of chili
#2 1/2 chicken breast, 1 bowl of chili
#3 1 bowl of chili, cranberry juice

Today's breakfast: eggwhite scramble w/onioins, peppers & lf cheese

Tonight, we're going out for our Valentine's Day date. We're seeing Movin' On. Its the dance/music thing using Billy Joel's music. We never go out on Valentine's Day - its just too busy and hectic so we usually do something special the week before or after.

Beth, thanks for your support.

Amy, it was a bummer missing the game but I was feeling so bad that I would have felt worse going. As you can see I made good use of the chili they sent home for me. Michael said there were tons of good food - so its probably best I didn't go.

We loved the musical. Its called 'Movin' Out' not Movin' On. (I'm starting to remind myself of my mother!) Dh & I both love Billy Joel's music, and the dancing was great. Its definately worth seeing. Also, I did not get my usual glass of wine at intermission. Instead we went for a walk along the bayfront. It was freezing cold outside too.

This morning I'm running into work to do activities with the residents while my coworkers decorate for our 10 year party. I plan on doing a lower body workout this afternoon.

Breakfast will be a breakfast burrito.

Yesterday's meals:
#2 chicken wrap
#3 BBQ chicken wrap w/sliced apple
#4 baked potato

Also, I forgot to put down that yesterday I had strawberries w/breakfast. I'm not eating enough veggies. In my chicken wrap I did have peppers and onions. With the BBQ chicken wrap I sauted onions w/ the chicken but thats still not enough veggies.

I'm glad you enjoyed your Valentines date! We plan on going out this weekend to avoid the crowds as well. Great minds think alike! :thumbsup2

Congrats on avoiding the wine and going for a walk instead! :cheer2:

Do you like carrots? How about celery? I love jicama, have you tried that? Corn, green beans, Italian beans, peas, zucchini, radishes, cauliflower, broccoli, tomatoes... Those are some that I eat. It is definitely an acquired taste, but you do need to get those veggies in! Maybe try some steamed cauliflower with a LF cheese sauce or something?

Your eating looks TONS better than last week, way to go getting back on track! :cool1: :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :yay:

Our weather has been gorgous here. Today I did 20 minutes of walking but not really an official BFL cardio workout.

Yesterday's meals
#1 scrambled eggwhites w/ veggies & lf cheese
#2 1 banana, 1 quesadilla
#3 LC eggroll dinner
#4 10 tortilla chips w/cheese & salsa (see what watching TV does to me!!)

Today, I picked up my mom, she's 89, and we went out for lunch and shopping. I'll be busy this weekend so I wanted to make sure I got to spend some time with her today. She loves WalMart so I took her there - she can always find something she loves. She's so funny. She grabs the clothes she wants to try on & barges back to the try on rooms. The only problem is that she doesn't wait for the clerk to help her. (I was back at the cart separating the clothes I wanted to try on.) With a big smile & waving at the clerks she goes back to the rooms & tries to get into the locked doors. Two clerks finally flag her down & tell her she needs a number. With that info, she grabs a number from one of the occupied doors. I ran up and motioned to one of the clerks that mom has trouble hearing. By the time they counted her clothes, got her number & secured her in a room we were all laughing. NO wonder I'm so worn out right now.

breakfast: small bagel w/pnut butter and strawberry fruit spread, 1/4C watermelon
lunch: 1/2 reuben sandwich, 10 french fries & 1/3 of peanutbutter pie

My weight today was 150.8.

Amy, I haven't tried jicama. Do you cook it or have it raw? I find that i like my veggies best raw and with some sort of a sauce. I hate cooked zuchinni but love it raw. I also used to shred raw turnips on top of my salads but haven't done that in ages. I need to readjust my thinking. Last week I made a sauce for my asparagus and loved it so much dh & I were competing for the last piece of asparagus. NOw, I can't remember the darn recipe. I need to just take the time & slice up those veggies. Thanks for the suggestions.

What a cute story about your mom! I'm glad the clerks had a sense of humor about it instead of being grumpy. I swear, some people have no business being in retail with their poor attitudes...

You are so close to the 140's! :woohoo: The weather here has been awesome too. We pretty much skipped winter. :sunny:

Jicama is eaten raw. It is awesome. It is crunchy like a raw potato, but sweeter. To me the texture is like a water chestnut. I think you'll like it!

I just had a major candy attack. I ate about 10 caramels, Tootsie Rolls, Bit-o-Honey... I swear, somtimes I think my brain just takes a vacation and lets my stomach take over. Now I have a bellyache and I'm pretty sure I deserve it... :rolleyes1

Any special plans for this weekend?

meal #3 today was 8 tortilla chips w/cheese & salsa

I'm supposed to grill fish out tonight but dh is going to be late, so I may just panfry it.

I did get in my 45 minute upper body workout tonight. It was a little late but I went for it since I know I won't do it tomorrow. This way I can get up early tomorrow & get in my 20 minutes worth of BFL aerobics.

Amy, next time I go to the grocery store I'll have to ask the produce guy where the jicama is. I'm sure they have it somewhere its just one of those things that I've never noticed. I feel like I'm teetering on the edge of the 140s. Its like when I was stuck at the 157-159 range all over again! Deja vu! I don't want to buy a bunch of clothes right now because I'm counting on getting lower but I'm starting to wear out my clothes. The 14's are a little big & the 12s fit great during the day but tight after dinner.

This weekend, we're planning on meeting up with some friends for appetizers. We'll see how much energy I have after working with my Alzheimers residents all day. I hear ya with the candy. :confused3 I bought two candy hearts - 1 for mil and 1 for my mom and actually broke into one and had 3 pieces of candy. The thing is I don't even like that kind of chocolate. Give me plain old milk chocolate any day. Enjoy your weekend! Watch out for Sunday!

I did 22 minutes of jog walks this morning. I had oatmeal w/nf milk and a protein drink for breakfast. I'm hurrying to get to work.
