Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

No, Amy, you didn't pass on the curse of the stuck weight. I did that all by myself! Have you seen what I've been eating the last week?

Kate, I hope you're feeling better. You've had a tough week.

Yesterday after I came home from the grocery store I was starving. I only had a few pieces of melon after my workout and before the grocery store - so when I got back I had a LC meal at about 11:30am.

I can't believe how dumb I am. Yesterday I went to the grocery store. We have a 3 gallon water container. I took it. While I was filling up my water container I was talking to one of the store employees. Then when I went to put the lid on - I couldn't find it. I have 3 gallons of water in an open container with a wide mouth on top. I searched thru my cart, the groceries & then went out to the car & searched the car. No lid. A bagger helped me put the container in my car - he put it in one of my trunk boxes and put the bigger items around it. I put a towel on top of it. I had 3 speed bumps to cross so I was a bit nervous. I got home & told dh what happened. WE both searched the car, trunk, & house for the lid. He went back to the store. After I put the groceries away, I opened my purse to pay my bills & Whala!!!! There was my lid! I immediately phoned dh & its a good thing - he'd gone to the store to buy a new container with a lid! I can't believe what an idiot I am sometimes. After that I was totally stressed out!

lunch @ 2:30 pm: LC & oj plus a mocha bar

Dh & I went to the movies to see The Island last night. I bought a small box of Milk Duds! For years I've gotten them at the movies. Old habits die hard! By the way, the movie was great! Its a sci fi movie about cloning. It stars Ewan McGregor & Scarlet Johanssen.

Afterwards we came home & had nachos for dinner. I bought him a new salsa dip. Its garlic & artichoke heart salsa. He loved it!

Tonight I'm taking mom out for a fish dinner. I think I'm going to get grilled salmon.

My workout this morning was 55 minutes of circuit training. I made goal!

YAY!!! I'm so glad you made your exercise goal! :cheer2: You really kicked it into high gear at the end, way to go!!!

I have done equally stupid and mind boggling things. I lost my debit card last year (July '04) and discovered it was missing when I was on vacation 2000 miles away. I never found it and believe me, I searched EVERYWHERE! Well guess what - this June (1 year later) my friend took a bunch of donations to Mexico and the next day one of the locals came up to him and handed him my debit card!! Somehow it must have gotten into one of the boxes I donated. Isn't that bizarre? I have NO idea how it could have gotten in there... :rolleyes1

Have a great weekend! I will have a margarita for you in Mexico! :goodvibes Grilled salmon is always so yummy, enjoy it! :teeth:

AWESOME job making your exercise goal!!! Good for you!

I love getting Milk Duds at the theater, and, believe it or not, they're one of the best options there! At least for what my theater sells, they're the lowest calorie candy!

Have fun at dinner tonight!!!

Hi!

I wanted to stop in and thank you for posting on my journal. I started to read yours from the start, then skipped ahead to page 12. You have made some great progress!!

No exercising today. I made goal this month & my heels and achilles tendons have been bothering me. With my trip to the Wine Festival coming up I want to be in good shape for walking around the world.

breakfast: Lean Pocket breakfast sandwich
lunch: LC beef/mushroom meal

Its only 3pm and I'm starving for dinner.

Amy, where do our brains go when they're not cooperating with us?! That would've been very scary - you're fortunate that honest people received your card. Earlier this year dh's credit card was stolen & used.

Pearlique, thanks for the good news about Milk Duds! I can't wait to try your yogurt brownie recipe though. It sounds delicious.

Frogmommy, thanks for stopping by! You're off to a great start!

Hi Jane! Sorry I haven't been by in a while...September...what a crazy month!

Hope your exercise break was restful and recuperative; good to take a break and take care of yourself so things don't get any worse.

Have a great weekend!!! And, enjoy the festival!

Thank you, Christin! I've got the suitcases out on the bed but haven't started packing yet.

Last night I ended up having nachos & ice cream for dinner. They were delicious! I don't want to even think about the fat grams.

Today I woke up, ate my watermelon & realized we didn't have any appropriate foods for the rest of my meal. After last night, I want to eat well today. At 11am I ran down to McD's for their Caesar chix salad. When I got back I took out the plastic wrap that contains the croutons & salad dressing. (I don't use either.) The date on those said 9/17. Dh wasn't happy and said he was going to take it down there and ask about it, because he does use their salad dressing. Next time I think I'll check out everything in the bag while I'm still at the take out window.

I'm still resting my feet & ankles so I'll be able to walk in the park tomorrow. I've just been doing housework & laundry - not much else going on here.

We totally must think alike! I've been cleaning and doing laundry too; luckily, DH had been helping so it went faster than I thought.

I'll have to try to mocha skinny cows. My current favorite is the chocolate/peanut butter sandwiches...yummy!!!

Thanks again for the feedback on my video.

Have fun!

How is your trip going Jane? I bet you are having a blast. I had multiple margaritas for you, plus some Jello shots. And I have the extra lbs to prove it...

Can't wait to hear about your trip! I hope your feet are better.

That's just what I was going to say! Hope to hear some good reports when you get back!!

I loved our trip. It was great staying at an Epcot resort. We were able to walk back and forth (exercise) or take the water taxi.

Upon arrival, the cm who was checking us in asked if we had any preferences. I told her no - to give us what she thought was the best available. We just had a standard room reservation so I was surprised when she asked me this. I was counting on a parking lot view. She told us we had a courtyard view. I was happy. What I didn't realize was we had an Epcot view too. That night as we're coming back into our room we ran out onto our balcony & caught the last of the Illuminations' fireworks. The next night we did the same thing. They were beautiful. I couldn't believe that I had a room with a view of the fireworks. At night, I'd sit out on the balcony watching the lights from Epcot. Love that pixie dust!

The heat & humidity were bad during the day. There is nowhere to eat the festival food comfortably in a/c and sitting down. They have tables without chairs that you can stand over or benches in the hot sun that you can sit on. Our second day we stayed in our room eating, reading & watching TV. We didn't get over to Epcot until after 5pm. In my opinion, the park comes alive at night. For the life of me I don't know why they start the festival at 11am. Dh & I both think it would be better to have an evening festival from 5pm-midnight. During the day the concerts are hot, humid and way too sunny. The last concert is always great. The stage lights are on, the air is cooler, and the crowd is always more attentive. At night we were much more comfortable eating the hot food & trying the wine samples.

Kansas was great. We loved hearing their music again. The Commodores really sparkled. There were 3 original members in the group along with several newer band members. Their show was spectacular!

We loved hearing Off Kilter. They were there both days, but we didn't expect them to be. They weren't listed on the daily schedule but they did play both days. Right across from the Off Kilter stage was the food kiosk from Poland. The man next to me asked if Off Kilter was a Polish band. I cracked up! I explained that their Canadian & their influence was taken from Scotland where many Canadians ancestor's apparently were from. I've never heard of Polish men wearing kilts!

The food was delicious. Our favorite was the flourless choc cake w/whiskey sauce in Ireland. I almost didn't get it because I was afraid the whisky sauce would ruin the chocolate. However, it didn't taste like whiskey - it was sweet. I coupled that with some Bailey's Irish Creme for dessert. Dh & I split that but after eating it we would have liked another slice - by then the line was too long and we opted for heading back to the concert.

Italy has the best wine. Its a sweet sparkling red wine that you buy inside of the Italian market. Next door they sell chocolate which I purchased to eat back in our room - 2 small pieces apiece!

As usual we had a great time. The concerts are worth the price of admission. The first show the Commodores did they went over 10 minutes! I've never seen that happen before. Usually the concerts are 30 min apiece. I felt like we got a bonus!

Christin, the mocha bars are Healthy Choice - They are delicious.

Amy, I switched your wine from Australia to Florida. Florida's kiosk had Mango wine which was delicious. You had 3 glasses! Its very sweet and we thought it tasted more like peaches than mangos.

Kate we had a great time! The wine festival is the best time of the year to go.

In Canada I ended up having 2 bowls of cheese soup but no ice wine. We did the mango wine with the Canadian food. There was also a food kiosk between Florida and Puerta Rico. It didn't list a county but we figured it was supposed to be South America or something. They had the best chix wraps with salsa.

We were sad that Russia wasn't there this year. They've always been our favorite with beef & sour cream. We really missed them. I even asked an employee why they weren't there but she didn't know. Greece was there and I don't remember them from past trips. Dh got a spicy lamb dish there. We couldn't believe all of the lamb they put on his dish. It was like an entree not an appetizer. After that he couldn't eat anymore because he was so stuffed.

We didn't do any rides - just concerts and eating and drinking. It was a great minitrip.

The animals missed us. Ds said he came over fed the dog, let her out & she came right back into the house, stood facing the front door & cried. The cat was bad, jumped onto the coffee table, then onto the dogs head, the dog growled and the cat ran behind the TV. Ds said its like a kitten playing with a dragon!

What a great trip! Everything sounds SO delicious! Thanks for the wine! I absolutely :lovestruc anything mango!!! That is cool that you got such an awesome room. Don't you just love those little surprises??

I got some Healthy Choice Caramel Ice Cream Sandwiches (2 boxes - they were on sale 1/2 price!) and also a box of their Fudge Bars and Raspberry/Orange Sherbet bars. I am going to allow myself one per weekend, so they are going to last a loooong time...

Poor furbabies! :dog: I bet they are glad you are home!!!

Glad to have you back and I'm sure you'll get right back on the eating healthy and exercising bandwagon. :goodvibes

OMG! What a great trip! Sounds like the perfect mini-vacation. How lovely that you got to see the fireworks from your own balcony...that's so perfect!

My DH and I went to Poland a few years ago, and I loved the food there...pierogies are one of my favorites.

One of these years, we'll make it to the food and wine festival. A mini-vacation from TX is sort of out of the question at this point, however ;)

BTW- there's no way I could take my DH to Epcot and not do Test Track or Mission Space...he'd pitch a fit! ;)

Wow, I would love to be able to go to the festival one day. And, how cool that you got a room upgrade. It sounds like you had a fantastic time.

I'm 157!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: First thing this morning I headed over to the grocery store to get weighed. It worked!! When we got home Tues night I weighed in at 158. I took it very easy with my food yesterday. Now, I can start at 0/5 for October. Yesterday, I forgot to include my food intake. Sunday/Monday was all wine festival food.

Tues: breakfast: breakfast sandwich with ham, egg & cheese
lunch: black bean burger
dinner: pork chops (salt, pepper, garlic & olive oil on each side) then grilled -
took Birdseye frozen veggies (onions, peppers etc), added sun dried
tomato pesto & capers while I sauted them - this was a quick recipe from my grocery store - took about 10 minutes to fix

midnight snack at 11pm: nachos!!!!!

Wed: felt like crap from eating so late - skipped breakfast & lunch

snack: carmel apple w/nuts - 5grams of fat!!!!! so good! & on program too!

dinner: leftover veggies, onion bagel sandwich w/ham & lowfat cheese, carmel apple

snack: carmel apple

I know I overdid the apples - but with the 5 grams of fat and fiber I think I did ok - just had too many!

Thurs: 1/4c cereal w/nonfat milk

I've been totally drained - will try to get in a workout today.

I watched The Biggest Loser the other day. I love seeing what type of workouts they do. THey sure lose alot of weight at each weigh in.

My youngest furbaby, I think is the demon kitty from Fleet Street!!! She is so bad. Yesterday I heard a CRASH! She was in our room amidst broken glass, broken side table, fallen lamp but she was ok and not hurt! Next to our bed dh & I each have one of those cheapie round tables from Kmart - I got a nice table covering from Bed,BAth & Beyond. They look nice but they aren't strong. Its never been a problem until now! When she weighed 2lbs - she wasn't heavy enough to upset anything. NOw, that she's over 5lbs she's creating havoc. This is the second broken lamp we've had, now dh's table is beyond repair & we're still vacumming up the broken light bulb!

Also yesterday I was printing something when I noticed it couldn't print out because QT was standing in front of it. I came up behind her but she didn't notice me - she was fixating on the paper coming out of the printer. I picked her up to get her out of the way - & it was like a jack in the box uncoiling. I think she thought the printer had grabbed her, it was like she sprung out with claws and all. I have a small gash - not scratch on the side of my hand.

Amy, I'm glad you like Mango because it was one of the best wines we've ever tasted. The first year we went we had a Key Lime wine which I haven't seen since but it was sooo good - tasted like a Margarita.

Christin, We've done Test Track so many times its not worth the line wait for us. No way that either one of us will do MS - dh doesn't like centrifugal force rides & I'm a wimp. Both of us loved Soarin' when we were there last time but there was no way we were leavin' the World Showcase to head over there. Too hot in the day & too busy at night. Thats how jaded we are after having seasonal passes when the kids were younger!

Frogmommy, thanks for stopping by!! I couldn't believe that I actually had an Epcot view!

Jane -- It sounds like you had a fabulous time! I'm so glad for you. And congratulations on getting to 157 and for joining the October exercise challenge. You are already 10% of the way toward your goal! (I was getting kind of worried about you and was going to come looking for you to make sure you weren't sick or something!) BTW, I hope you counted all the walking you did in WDW! That can be quite a workout!

The description of your furbaby and the printer was cute, but sorry you ended up with a battle scar!

Have a great day!

Yay Jane!!!! :cool1: Congrats on the loss!!! I am so envious - I would have gained at least 5 lbs if I went on that trip with you. You're my hero! :worship:

When I go on my Disney cruise in March, there is a wine place in Key West that sells Key Lime wine, plus a bunch of other tropical flavors that I know I just have to try! It's really the only place I HAVE to go on Key West... My friend went to Hawaii and she brought back a bunch of Pineapple and Passion Fruit wine (she brought a bottle to Mexico) and it is SO good!

We are making caramel apples this weekend! The kids have been bugging me to make some, I :lovestruc caramel apples with nuts, but we are not doing nuts. They'll still be awesome though! I can't believe you ate 3, that is so funny!

You are doing great, keep it up! Watch out 150, here comes Jane! :cheer2:

What a great trip!! Sounds like it was fabulous, and Way to Go Jane on the loss!! :goodvibes

My workouts: I counted 35 minutes for both days at Disney for a total of 70 minutes. Yesterday I did 30 minutes of circuit training.

Yesterday
lunch: LC eggroll, cran/rasp juice, 3 bites of the rice/veggies in it & 3 bites of fresh pineapple that was in my fridge.

Snack: 1 Carmel Apple

Dinner: I made fajitas yesterday. Sauteed red & green peppers along with an onion in olive oil & garlic. Grilled the chix. The fajitas were great. This time I didn't use cheese. We added salsa and chopped tomatoes to our fajitas, cran/rasp juice - Dh loved'em and made sure there was enough for dinner tonight.

Today:
breakfast: 1/4C of cereal with fat free milk & 1 banana

Cam, the festival was great. THanks for worrying about me. I was just slow in changing my signature & getting back online.

Amy, that passion fruit & pineapple wine sounds delicious. I've never even heard of it before. You can tell I've never been to Hawaii. Have fun with the carmel apples - your kids will love them! The messier the better!

Kate, thanks for your encouragment. Now, if I can just keep it up till the end of the month!

I will be sure to have a glass for you tomorrow (or 2, or maybe 3) because I know she will have some at her party (in fact, I am taking her a bottle!). :teeth: You can find it at Cost Plus World Market, if you have one of those nearby.

You are doing awesome, those fajitas always sound SO good! I will have to make them sometime. We are going to make caramel apples tonight after dinner. I had the slave laborer clean the floors today, so they are WAY too clean and I think melted caramel plus 2 kids is just the solution...

Keep it up!! :cheer2:
