I know there are others booked, because I jumped on the November 1 release and already missed 4 of those "secret porthole" cabins!!

We're sailing on our first DCL cruise! We've booked the remaining "secret porthole" cabins and a sideways inside on deck 5. It will be 4 generations sailing, my grandparents, my parents, dh and I, and Connor. We're celebrating Connor's 5th birthday on this trip!!

I'll be decorating all the doors, and we're already trying to plan our shore excursions. I'm getting dh a surprise for his birthday next year...the eco tour at Castaway Cay! He loves jet skis but doesn't get to ride often, so I thought it would be a perfect surprise present.

So, who else will be joining us?

Just bumping up...boy this is going to be one empty ship!! Where are the other "secret porthole"-ers???

We will be on the ship Jan 27, 2008. We went on our first DCL cruise Jan 07, and had such a wonderful time, that we decided to do it again in 08! I can't wait!!!

Yes, count us in too. Just my wife and I. We will be celebrating our 30th on January 28, 2008. Anyone want to share transportation? $138 with Disney is high. Planning to vist Atlantis on Jan. 28. This will be our third disney cruise.

Hi there! Finally! It's good to see we're finally getting more people on board! We are hoping to do Atlantis too. Playing everything by ear right now, as we planned and booked this cruise before I found out I was pregnant, so this will be baby's first trip.

Keep in touch!

 Hello fellow January 27, 2008 Wonder cruisers.

I have looked before for this thread but never found it.

We booked this cruise while we were onboard the Disney Wonder Jan 7 - 11, 2007 sailing.

It will be our 9th Disney Cruise. It will be me (Robin) my husband, and another couple. I might try to book our then 20 year old daughter into our cabin too but I haven't done it yet.

We are booked into a sideways category 11 cabin on Deck 6. We have stayed in sideways cabins before and we like them.

Nice to meet everyone and I'm looking forward to getting to know you better before we sail.

GEB@okw, the last 2 cruises we took out of Port Canaveral we rented a car one way to Port Canaveral, returned it to the rental place and then rented another one on the way back to the airport.

That worked out really well for us. We also found it to be an economical way there and back.

Hi cruisin', welcome to our thread! I have a question...you said you enjoy the sideways cabins. I booked one on deck 5 for my grandparents (in their late 70's) when they decided to join us because I couldn't get another secret porthole cabin, and they want to be near my parents. They have never cruised before, aren't huge travellers, but are pretty flexible. Do you think they'll be ok in a sideways inside?

I'm sure that they will be just fine in that cabin. My parents stayed in one last year for their very first cruise and enjoyed it.

Those cabins give you a feeling of being more spacious than a normal category 11 cabin. The ones we have been in also have a steamer trunk in them for storage.

I have some pictures. I'll go and find them and post them for you so you can see what they look like.

Here are the pictures of our cabin number 6011 on the Wonder.

Just ignore my husband in the pictures;)

These cabins feel bigger I think because you enter the side of them instead of the end. You walk into the sofa area of the cabin.

If you or they have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'd be glad to try and answer them for you.

Hey Tracey.

I just noticed that you are from Canada.

I, too am from Canada:thumbsup2

I live in Ontario.

Where are you from?

Hey there, thanks for the pictures...I'll be sure to show them to my grandparents next week. I think they'll be ok too, but I just get nervous. This whole cruise was my idea, and I don't want anyone to be disappointed.

I'm from Kitchener, and you?

:wave2:

I am from Chatham.

We are almost neighbours ;)

Ok, now I have another question for those of you who cruised in Jan before...how is the weather? We just got back from Florida with the same party that will be travelling in January, and we have some nervous fliers. My mom is terrified of flying in January...to the point where she actually asked me to change the cruise to April (I've looked into it, but it doesn't look good for getting our same cabins, and it's more expensive of course). Dh and I were planning to fly in early anyway for a short stay at Disney first, but I think we should all fly together now, and I'm not sure what my grandparents would do for a few days at Disney...they aren't park people. We were planning to stay at ASMo, but now we may have to rethink...again, don't think the grandparents would like the noise/kids etc.

Advice/Suggestions?

Hello everyone! Count us in. It's me, DH, and DS (who will be 20 months). This is the second cruise for me and DH. I have to see if DS has sea legs;)

 hello and welcome aboard KandiB.

Glad to have you sailing with us.

Hi,Tracey

I just got back from Florida early this morning too ::yes::

We have sailed 13 times and only 5 of those cruises were NOT in January.

I don't remember very many of those cruises where the weather was not good. A couple of times it was a bit chilly at Castaway Cay but not uncomfortable (especially for Canadians ;) )

You never know what the weather will be like exactly but since we keep travelling in January, guess it hasn't been too bad overall.

I definitely recommend flying down a day or more before the cruise leaves. We have done it before on the day of the cruise but at that time of the year it can be a bit stressful depending on the weather conditions at the time.

We have stayed at the POP Century with my parents and they loved it there. Maybe your grandparents will be okay.

Are they mobile enough on their own, able to travel around:confused3 They could consider resort "hopping". We have done that before. Just take the Disney transportation and visit the different resorts and check out the decor of the lobbies and the grounds. That is an interesting way to spend some time.

Thanks to a great code from the transportation board, I was able to rent two one way rentals to the port and back for about $25 each way. Sure beats Disneys price of $139. I used budget. Is it close to pier?

We have done it that way in the past before.

It is a great, economical way to get to and from the terminal.

We have used Thrifty before.

What company did you use??
