Jan. 22- 29 , 2011 Western Caribean Cruise on the Disney Magic!!!

On the way to school this morning Jake was talking about how much he likes dolphins. When I asked him if he wanted to see one up close and touch one, he said yes. I thought the boys would be too scared to do a dolphin encounter. Now I have to rethink this one. Hopefully I can still get in at Chankanaab for a dolphin encounter.

We did the dolphin swin through Dolphinaris on our cruise last January and LOVED it so much we are doing it again this year! We booked both right through the DCL web site. Expensive, but it was absolutely worth it. We each got a kiss, handshake, swim, and much more. We were in the water with the dolphin for about 45 minutes, if I am remembering correctly. My kids were 5 and 8 last year (and approx 48" tall) and were not scared one bit.

ETA: Dolphinaris is in Cozumel, about a 5 minute taxi ride (included in the price) from the ship.

I was looking into NACHI COCOM in case I cannot get my reservations for the Tulum ruins tour. I wanted to know if they could accomidate a gluten free guest so I emailed them. They didn't answer my question but they did give me a copy of their menu. If you would like me to email you a copy of it, email me or IM me with your email address.

Anyone have any cruise-mares?? LOL
Last night I dreamt were at port. We were so happy and excited to be there. THEN I went to check in, looked at the cm behind a desk and my heart just dropped. I thought, :scared1: "OH NO!!! I forgot ALL of our documents." And then I just lost it. :sad1:

AHH!! If anything the dream will help me NOT forget now! LOL I must have some hidden cruise anxiety I didn't know about. LOL

I had several bad cruise dreams before my first cruise....BUT i have not had any more since then....But i do remember the feeling....uuughhhh

That is a great picture! I would think that WDW would be a great place to spend Halloween. Maybe one day I will get the chance.

Hope you have a great time at your adult party. Another luxury that I have not had the chance to enjoy in a long time. Hopefully I will get some adult time on the ship!!

Mike wants us to wear this for formal night.......
I dont think we should....:lmao:

He says he could get a tie to go with and no mask for me.

I think he is crazy

GREAT photos!! Happy Halloween Everyone!!

As an aside, does anyone here find it odd how people go on and on (on the main board) about preferring the Eastern cruise to the Western? I've never been to the Western ports but have been on an Eastern on another cruise line and I honestly don't see what the big to-do is about. I picked Western on purpose for the extra port day (sea days have never suited me because I get seasick and like it when the boat is stopped, lol!) I also like the adventure of each port, so the more the better.... My son is of Mayan heritage so I really wanted him to get a glimpse of that in Mexico. I see some people calling Cozumel "icky." What is that about? Cozumel is very safe, at least from everything I've read out on the net. If you are travelling anywhere in Mexico, that seems to be the ideal place to go, at least right now. I have been to its neighbor Cancun, on the mainland, and thought that was beautiful too..

hmmmm...well, let them all book the Easterns. More food for us! lol!

I have yet to see either itiniraty but the Western appeals to me more than the Eastern for the same reason as you, Mayan! I was really looking forward to doing the Tulum ruins this trip but after alot of reasearch, I am decided against it. 4 hrs on a bus/ferry does not sound much like a vacation to me. I then thought about doing the San Gervasio Ruins with the Playa Mia beach excursion but some pics of the ruins(on the Mayan Ruins & Discover Mexico Cultural Park tour) really turned me off of it. I want to see REAL ruins not diaramas :(. Well, now after a lengthy family chat, we have changed almost all of our excursion plans and made sure to have back up choices in case we miss the ones we really want.

Lynn: LOVE the costumes! Very creative!

WE HAD A GREAT NIGHT!!!!!!

I LOVE that dress!!! Great picture...

Okay, so maybe not FORMAL night, but definitely semi-formal! You have GOT to wear that!!!!! You would get more attention than anyone and since we are sitting with you, that means we will too. :rolleyes1 PLEASE promise me you will bring that on the cruise!

RE: Western vs. Eastern. Personally, I could care less as long as I am on the ship :lovestruc, but I really do like Key West and the DH is adamantly against going eastern...

I know just what you are saying. I was hoping we could take our eldest (Jason, 8) to Tulum as well but we decided against it. The younger ones couldn't go anyway so that would not work well for us. My Mom did like San Gervasio and they do have real ruins there, but they are not large or "impressive" looking. We decided on Chankanaab because they have all the fun swimming activities plus a "cute" replica village of Mayan ruins, so he can at least get an idea of what they are. I guess the most wonderful ruins are actually deep in the forests of Guatemala, where he was born, but that type of excursion requires way more planning than we can do at this stage of the game!

I guess I just find it odd that every so often someone will ask which is better, Eastern or Western, and people seem to have some very strong negative opinions about Western, but I rarely see the reverse. Or then again, maybe it's just the same few people posting every time, lol!

WELL then i guess i will bring the dress.
Semi Formal might just be the way to go. AND YES you are probablly right KELL....When i wore this to MNSSHP, so many CMs ask about the dress.

EASTERN vs WESTERN..............Well, i cannot give an honest oopinion ....yet... I have only done Eastern But i am pretty equal on likeing the sea days and port days. Now i dont know anything about hte ports in The Western (well except KW) BUT I really loved the scenery of the eastern watching the mountains rise up out the ocean is just one of the most incredible things i have ever seen.....

So tell me are there mountains in the western ports?

**************************************

I am just really against the stop at key West....i love Key West but dont love it with kids.................
