Jan. 22- 29 , 2011 Western Caribean Cruise on the Disney Magic!!!

LOVE LOVE the dress, Lynn, and that family halloween pic!

who is staying at CIS the night before? Maybe we'll see you!

We decided to take the kids out another day of school since they were only missing four due to an in-service day and get down earlier than we had originally planned. I am paranoid about weather problems and want that extra time in case a blizzard decides to hit that week.

We are staying at CIS along with Michelle (shellannv). I also believe Kelli and Colleen are going to be there too. We were originally going to leave Fri. around 1:30, as the kids have early dismissal that day, but I really didn't want to be driving all night and be exhausted for the cruise, so we are pulling them from school that day and leaving very early in the AM. I'm hoping to be there around dinner time. My kids have off Mon and Tues the following week, so they will only miss 4 days total. We have travelled to WDW in January the past few years and have had no problems with driving due to the weather (DC traffic is another story, lol). One year there was a snow day back home, so the kids missed one less day of school, which was cool. I guess we will all have to meet up for a pre-cruise meet Friday night/Saturday morning.:cool1: Does anyone know how far in advance we should call to get on the list for the 1st shuttle over to the port?

Julianne

Awww...I wish we were staying CIS! Would love to get the party started one day earlier!! lol

I'm with Kelli on the whole Eastern vs Western debate...I don't really care as long as I'm cruising!! I have done both and there are good things to both itineraries. We chose Western this time just due to the fact that it departs on my DD's birthday and I thought that was a nice present. Also, my DH prefers port days to sea days so this one gave us one more port of call.

So ya'll trying to arrive at the port real early? 10am? We will try and be there as early as possible. We are driving from MCO area and have not done the drive before so not really sure where we're going yet. Hopefully we don't get lost.:confused3 We have a couple of stops to make as well as return the rental car. If all works out we will be there before 11am.

Dont know where we are stying yet.
COuntry Inn and Suites might be the way to go........ I just want to arrive at the Port early.

We signed up for the shuttle lst time when we made our reservation.

I HOPE we come up FRIDAY evening.......Really would like to chek into the hotel on Firday night and sleep most of the day on SATURDAY.......

WELL then i guess i will bring the dress.
Semi Formal might just be the way to go. AND YES you are probablly right KELL....When i wore this to MNSSHP, so many CMs ask about the dress.

I am just really against the stop at key West....i love Key West but dont love it with kids.................

Yay!! So glad you are bringing the dress!!:banana: I changed our Palo reservation so it wouldn't be semi-formal night... As for Key West with kids. So don't take them! I am sure there will be plenty in the clubs they would love...

Naturally, the week we leave the kids are out of school on Monday & Tuesday and we are pulling them Friday so we can leave that morning. Oh well, what can you do? :sad2: I was told we could sign up for the shuttle when we arrive.

I am with you on the sleeping in. However, I know it would never happen!

I agree with you, we are doing the same.

We are at CIS! Flying in from BWI around noon and just hanging out there (hopefully by the pool) that afternoon. I swear I read somewhere that you could call for a shuttle reservation before you actually check-in but now I'm not sure...
Paid in full as of today! Wooohooo! :-)

This is exactly what we were going to do, Julianne. if the kids miss less than 3 hours than it doesn't do down on record, so we were going to pick them up after lunch at school on Friday, but it meant driving all night and also no Plan B if something goes wrong, weather, flat tire, whatever.... if it was any other kind of vacation no problem, but we're not missing that ship! LOL

I was also told we had to sign up when we checked in. A friend of mine used them recently and got a shuttle at 10:00, but when I asked about it they said they don't start until 10:30, so not sure what the deal is there. May call in December at some point to see about it again.

Looks like a lot of us will be there Friday night! :thumbsup2

made the final payments today so it must be getting close!!! we are flying in on Friday but staying in Orlando. Sounds like there will be quite the crew at CIS though.

We have made our final payment as well. Wooo Hooo!

Now my Brother and his family may be joining us. One problem is that there is only second seating available for dinner and we have main seating. We don't really want to change because of our young ones. How hard would it be for them to get the main seating? Should I call DCL and ask?

I've read on the main board that if you link their reservation to your own, they have a better chance. Make sure DCL or your TA notes that *you* do not want to switch to Late to be with them though! I seem to recall someone saying that happened to them when they linked... just check to be sure. :)

is anyone else concerned about all this Magic talk on the board lately? At first I kind of brushed it off as a little nit-picky, (besides the sewage issues), but as more and more people speak up it makes me wonder if we have something to worry about. Like having to stop a show mid-act due to water leaking?!?!

When you start thinking about all the money going into this, at least for us, this is by far the most expensive vacation we've taken as a family (thanks to WDW military deals LOL) . . . I just don't want to be disappointed. Then again, I think since we've never cruised before, we will be pleasantly surprised since we can't compare it to anything prior.
We were originally on the Dream and moved to the Magic, so I am just hoping we did the right thing. All the extra people on the Dream and the fact that my youngest wouldn't be able to ride the AquaDuct influenced our change, as well as cost of a 5-day vs 7-day with the kids sail free.

Anyway, just babbling... I think I will stop reading the board. LOL

I really don't think we have anything to worry about. We don't sail for 80 DAYS!!! You would be surprised what can be done in 80 days. I am sure if they have to stop shows like people are saying, it will be taken care of quickly. It has only sailed out maybe 3 times since dry dock so they may have a few more trips to go before it is dry on stage again. I can't see them leaving it and having to stop shows. They would lose so much money if they left it like that too long with all the talk that goes on. I can say I am glad we don't go till January now. LOTS of time for them to do touch ups needed before we board.

I guess I will miss out on the party at CIS because DCL has me staying at the Hyatt at the airport. Anyone know if there is a place to get water/wine etc. close to the airport or maybe even IN the airport? I really do not want to pay $7. a bottle of water...lol, I drink ALOT of bottled water. I think I would blow my onboard budget the first night....lol.

We are leaving for the city here on the evening of the 18th so kids will miss about 2 weeks of school. Thank goodness Canada is not nearly as picky as I have heard the US is about kids missing school. All my kids teachers are getting the kids caught up on what they will miss through Christmas holidays.

I know alot of you are doing Nachi Cocom but has anyone done the Fury Catamaran and Beach with DCL? I think we will end up on that one.

Well 80 days to go and if you ask my DH, he will also tell you hours, minutes and seconds till we cruise... He is a little excited...lol. Just think! In 5 days I can stop looking at excursions and changing my mind every 4 seconds because I will be BOOKED!!!! Still deciding on what spa package to do with DH though. We are definitely doing the Rasul one day and I was thinking the couples massage but I still am not sure. We are definitely doing Palo dinner and brunch and I am still in for Tea with the girls. So when you think about it, I am done the "Planning" stage of the cruise on Monday. Now it is more "planning" with packing etc. I even picked up some US money the other day and MAN! I think your US Gov't forgot their crayons!!! Where is the color?! (JUST KIDDING!! Please don't be offended!) I get teased so often from some of my American friends that our money looks like Monopoly money but all I can say now is... Americans must have boring wallets. :lmao:

Chrisse

Thanks for the reassurance... I was thinking the same thing, that by Jan these have to be taken care of I would think. Like I said, I need to just stop reading those posts. LOL

LOL about the money... I solve that problem by never having cash on me! :lmao:

I don't like having cash on me while traveling but I guess room service wouldn't like me if I never tipped...lol

Very true, you may start waiting a LONG time for food. ;)
Guess I better remember a stash of singles too!!

Better make sure they are ones... hard to tell when everything is GREEN!!! :rotfl2:

LOL, yes, but if I start giving out 100's by accident I bet we'll get some pretty magical service. :rotfl2:

Off cruise topic, Anyone ever done the parks in August? I am considering it with the new military deal and we'll already be down there at the beach. I am leary because we did a day trip to sea world this year in august when we were down there and it was hot as hades and we all just wanted to jump in the tanks with the animals. We ended up leaving earlier than we had planned. But am trying to convince myself if we stay at the Poly and have the monorail and the pool close by for midday it may not be so bad. LOL Convincing DH may be a whole different story.. all we kept saying at Sea World that day.. is how we would NEVER plan an august Disney trip . . . oops! ;)
