Jan. 22- 29 , 2011 Western Caribean Cruise on the Disney Magic!!!

BTW... MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

We have about an inch of snow on the grass this morning!!! :sad2:

please whatever you do don't send it east. I would really like to get through this month before snow falls. Trick or treating is much easier in a wagon then a sled :thumbsup2

Chrisse what store were you at, is it one i would have here in Winnipeg? I need a new large suitcase to. My DH still believes he can travel with a small luggage and then puts a bunch of his stuff in my suitcase so like it or not he is using a big suitcase this time.

We leave our heavy jackets in the car at the airport and bring a nice warm sweater or light jacket with us. We were in Ft Lauderdale to catch a cruise this year in January and it was really cold (usually no problem but bad winter there this year i guess) so be sure you still bring something reasonably warm plus can be cool at night out on deck.

Ya you would have Bentley Leathers there. Andy(the owner) lives there so I would assume you would. I haven't worked there for over 15 yrs so who knows...lol. The most expensive suitcase I bought this time was $69.99. So when you buy one at $69.99 You get the second for $34.99!!! Then if you get their discount card(it costs $10.00). you get an extra 15% off EVERYTHING you buy!!! With buying 4 suitcases it saved me an extra $40.00!!! It was such a good deal! And they are not cheap suitcases. The $69.99 is after the 60% off. So each case is roughly 170.00 before discounts. Not a bad deal.

Awesome yes we do have Bentley here so i will have to go check it out. thanks for the tip

If I recall correctly, we took 3 suitcases with clothes, 1 for FE's and 1 with wine (carry on). So I think you are just fine!

Anyone out there thinking about a Castaway Cay cabana? I keep eyeballing them, but $500 is a LOT of money for that...

WOW......Our first cruise...for the 4 of us we each took our 3 piece set of luggage.....yeah....thats right....8 suitcases , 3 carry ons....OMG in my defense....it was halloween cruise and we had costumes for halloween and we had costumes for pirate night and formal and semi formal and we had gone to disney for 2 days previous.....
2nd cruise cut it down to 5 suitcases 1 carry on

Wonder if the cabanas can be shared?????
Where can you read about them....is there anything special about them?
other than shelter...do you get drinks or food or anything like that???

So we were up at 12:01 also and were able to book everything we wanted. Palo Brunch for my husband and I and brunch for our moms on a different day! Palo dinner for us on Key West night at 6:00 as the sun sets. Palo tea for our moms. Submarine tour in Grand Cayman. We also booked Nachi Cocum on our own. Really looking forward to that one as I have heard so many great reviews. To those who booked the jet ski tour at CC you will love it. My son and husband still talk about that trip. Well, know that the booking is over, I will need something else to occupy my planning time. Time to shop for FE gifts!!!:goodvibes

Glad to hear about the jet skis.....and they were $160 for a double

I love trick or treating in Florida ..... not wearing a coat ovre your costume is AWESOME!!!

Anyone have any cruise-mares?? LOL
Last night I dreamt were at port. We were so happy and excited to be there. THEN I went to check in, looked at the cm behind a desk and my heart just dropped. I thought, :scared1: "OH NO!!! I forgot ALL of our documents." And then I just lost it. :sad1:

AHH!! If anything the dream will help me NOT forget now! LOL I must have some hidden cruise anxiety I didn't know about. LOL

Yes - I had a dream not long ago that I got to the ship and realized I didn't bring the luggage with me! My husband went back to get it (from MARYLAND) and I was upset that he didn't get back before the ship sailed. I seriously doubt I will actually forget anything since I will probably start packing the weekend before we leave, but I sure woke up in a panic that night! :lmao:

I had booked Palo dinner at 6:00 too, but the DH about had a fit and said he didn't want to eat that early. Mind you, we usually eat at 6:30ish at home! :sad2: So, whatever, I changed it to 7:30... Did you have any issues with Nachi Cocum? What kind of good stuff have you heard? :surfweb:

We had a very hard time booking Nachi using their own website. I tried unsuccessfully for days as my emails kept coming back undeliverable. I eventually booked using Island Marketing. No problems at all. I have read a lot of reviews and every one seems to be positive. They all say that they limit the number of reservations to 100 people which is great considering how busy CC beach can be. They also say that they food and drinks are a great bargain. We just really wanted a day to relax. Sometimes at CC we seem to feel guilty when we book an excursion or watch the crab races because it takes the kids out of the sand. All they want to do is make sand castles and swim. Even getting them to eat has been difficult. This way we will have a day to spend at the beach and be able to explore CC a little more. Atleast that is the plan!:goodvibes

I have read on the boards that Disney will not budge on the 6 person limit on the cabanas so you would have to find someone to share that won't put you over that limit. They look pretty awesome! Concierge service, private beach, drinks (alcoholic & non) in the fridge there. There is a button you can push and the CM will be there in minutes to get what you need or to golf-cart you to food or where ever... THere is a thread about them somewhere with some good pix in the earlier pages.

I dreamed that we were on the cruise and I suddenly remembered that it was a 2 week cruise and I hadn't told Bert about it and was worried he would be mad. Also, made the HUGE mistake of letting the kids watch Titanic. :sad2: Do not even ask what I was thinking. THey just kept begging to watch it so I finally gave in. I was worried about the nude scenes, which of course, they totally ignored. They both ended up in tears about the way people were treating each other. DD doesn't talk about it, but the DS will ask every now and then what would make the Magic sink. Have explained about a zillion times that it won't sink, they don't make ships the same and most important of all, THERE ARE NO FLIPPIN' ICEBERGS IN THE CARIBBEAN!!!! Yes I am a terrible mom!

Is that site IslandMarketing.com?

Thanks!!

Kelli

About Nachi Cocom. I dont think it was islandmarketing.com I think I just searched Island marketing and the website popped up. There were a few choices, but this one said something about Cozumel. Maybe island marketing ltd? When I get home I will check the paperwork and get an address for you.

Unfortunately, we had to be waitlisted for the first dinner seating. Has anyone been successful at getting first seating when first boarding the ship?

I imagine you will be okay. Just go first thing on embarkation day to guest services...

Royfam - are you still out there? You had said you wanted to do FEs and I PM'd you for additional info but never heard back. Are you still interested?

did they give you a waitlist number so that you know how many people are infront of you? Final payment day is still over a week away so it is possible some people will cancel and you will move up the list. Keep my fingers crossed for you.

No, we transferred out ressie to Dreams Unlimited. They had us put on the waitlist. What is crazy is that our reservation said "1st seating" earlier last night and then changed back to "2nd seating waitlisted for 1st seating".

Kelli, I just have to say that I am laughing my butt off reading this. What's next up in the Netflix queue? The Perfect Storm? Jaws? :lmao:

My vote is for the Poseidon Adventure, :lmao:

On the way to school this morning Jake was talking about how much he likes dolphins. When I asked him if he wanted to see one up close and touch one, he said yes. I thought the boys would be too scared to do a dolphin encounter. Now I have to rethink this one. Hopefully I can still get in at Chankanaab for a dolphin encounter.

OMG! Don't even mention Jaws! Fortunately, they have not thought of sharks being a problem... When the Today Show was talking about that kid in California that was killed by a shark I tried to not let them hear it, but of course they did.:sad2: I just told them that we aren't going to California so don't worry about it...

I'm seriously giddy just reading the Oct 16th Navigators! :yay: I'm giving myself 30 more minutes to peruse them and then I HAVE to move on with my life.

I hear you! They are addictive! I really hope to get the copies one of our fellow DISers promised to send so I can highlight stuff I want to be sure and do!

Hey Colleen! Thanks for the heads up on the Cruise Confidential book over on the thread about crew noise. :worship: Ordered it right away along with The Captain's Log. Similar type of book, but written by a ship's captain... Can't wait to read them! I love that kind of stuff! :lovestruc
