Jan. 22- 29 , 2011 Western Caribean Cruise on the Disney Magic!!!

We are coming along for the ride! So excited- We just booked for this cruise. We have done two 4 nights on the Wonder, so we are really looking forward to a 7 night this time. Both of our 4 nights have been in Jan. and we have had excellent weather. This time we are bringing my mom and mother-in-law along for the fun. They went with us 2 years ago on a 4 night and loved it too. We would love to participate in the fish extender. That is my kids favorite part of cruising! They are disappointed when we go to Disney World now and they don't get gifts at the hotel:laughing: Looking forward to another great cruise!

Awesome! Welcome aboard! As you want to do FE's will you please PM me so I can add you to the list. Just need staterooms (when you have it/them), how many adults, how many kids & their ages and whether they are a boy or girl...

Hi everyone! Is anyone else here tempted by the Kids Sail Free offer for the same time period in the Mexican Riviera? I sure am and even with the airfare difference (we're on East Coast) it would save us a bundle (3 kids and we're all in the same room)! However, I was really counting on seeing CC and I do think the long flight time to CA could possibly spell disaster for my kids' very first flight experience. For now we're not changing a thing. Does anyone here know if DCL has ever offered KSF for the Caribbean itineraries in January?

We got kids go free on our wester caribbean cruise last year. Got an e-mail with a pin around October. Hoping for one again. I am tempted by the Mexican Riviera offer for sure. Looking into it, but I really love CC and don't want to miss that...

Cruising alone no more, 3 persons will fill out cabin 6131! :dance3:

Yep, what started up as "I'm tired to wait on folks to make up their mind, I'm booking myself this cruise and join me if you wanna come" has turned into a fun cruise! party:

Looks like I'll be joined by two awesome friends/work colleagues, also in their late twenties, dynamic and silly (and, shall I say, ahem, single like me!) but not hardcore party folks, so we should get along fine. To accompany my lovely, gluttonous and unabashedly (yet classy) gay self :rainbow:, I'll have a delightful and very funny young lady with a really thick head of hair that's gonna react to the Caribbean's humid air in powerful and unpredictable ways , and one suave latino guy whose devilish good looks are gonna create waves of eye-popping across the ship :cool1:. The latter two favour the company of the opposite sex, so we cover all bases!

So now, I won't have to suffer upon deciding what to order at dinner, afraid to miss out on That Delicious Item, knowing that I'll be allowed to try out their choices (yeah, they were summarily informed that traveling with me means sharing food! :rotfl:). Now I just have to find a clever way to make sure we all order different things... Or find table mates who also are enthusiastic foodies!

Well, I still have to take a look at which excursions would please us all.

This is all exhausting, hopefully I can look forward to a relax vacation after all this planning!

Okay, I am hanging out with you guys!! If for no other reason than to see the hair, LOL... And, of course, who doesn't need more classy friends!

So glad your friends decided to come along with you!! :grouphug:

Hello Everyone!!!

I have had my cruise booked for almost 2 months and I am so glad to finally have someone else to ooze my excitement to other than my husband and kids! I am new to the boards and to DCL all together so I am not familliar with the lingo as of yet but I promise you I WILL LEARN!

Not only is this our first family vacation(minus the oldest who is staying home) but it is also our very first cruise EVER and I don't think I have ever been this excited! There will be myself, my husband, my 13 yr old son and my 11 yr old daughter. I still have to do some reading up on FE's but it sounds wonderful to me. I only have one problem with it... My daughter and I have Celiac Disease so any treats would have to be gluten free  I comepletly understand if this is not doable and we will opt out of the program. The magnet exchange sounds like alot of fun. You said something to do with where you are from right? Just so I have an idea of where to go with it. As for meets, I am sure it would be great to meet people!

So far I know we are on the 6th deck, second seating for dinner and trying to sort out some fun excursions! My only stipulation for the cruise was a Mayan tour!

A little about my family...

Lets start with my daughter... Brooke is 11 going on 18, a social butterfly(like her grandmother) and makes friends very easily! She loves to hang out with kids of all ages and is even fun with adults. She is a real joker and a smart @$$... not sure where she gets it from... :rolleyes1
Kayle is my 13 yr old son who despite his height is a basketball fanatic! Typical teen he loves video games, music and sports. He is my most easy going child and will go with any flow.
Brian my husband is somewhat of a sports fanatic himself but just as easygoing as Kayle. He is always up for good fun and doesn't stress over the little things.
My name is Christina, Chrisse for short(Chris, please don't call me Chrissy!...lol). I am the more high strung and easily excitable in the family(aside from my 20 yr old who will not be joining us)but still alot of fun! I just have a high attention to detail...lol (even though I sound scatterbrained...lol)
Ok, enough about us for now!

I am SO excited! Happy to be on the boards and hope to meet some great people!

Hey GiddyRhino! I am also from Canada! I'm in Alberta though.

I just wanted to say Welcome to LokkaBear! You sound so excited and happy and I'm looking forward to meeting you! I would not worry about the FE/gluten issue. We too are dealing with a food allergy and Tinkerkell was kind enough to mention it in the post about FE participation. I think a lot of people do little toys or trinkets instead of food. I definitely hope you will go ahead and participate! I can tell you for sure that we are not going to be giving out food or candy - I went crazy and already bought all kinds of other stuff. :)

GiddyRhino - you totally crack me up!! I am officially nominating you to come up with an idea for a group name because you seem to be creative and have a way with words!

Colleen

Since I am so new ot the forums they wont let me send a PM yet...lol How fresh am I!?!? lol So the following message is to Tinkerbell123!

My family and I will be on the Jan 22. 2011 cruise and would like to be a part of the FE, magnet trade and meet!

There will be...
Christina(DW)<-- ME!
Brian(DH)
Kayle(DS 13)
Brooke(DD 11)

Brooke and I have Celiac Disease as well so if you could post not to give either of us treats with Gluten, it would be greatly appriciated.

Thank you so much! I look forward to meeting you!

OK, I know this sounds crazy but.... I am already working on FE's!... lol I saw so many great ideas on the forums I started to pick up little things here and there and actually have a great idea of something I want to attempt to create, even though I am as creative as a tree stump. Now I just need to TRY and settle down my excitement, stop checking the forums every night and figure out how to make a FE without making something that looks like a 4 yr old made(they would probably do a better job than me anyways).

You are not alone! I am already planning what I want to do for FEs and am going to start soon...

Glad y'all are along for the ride!

Hello again my fellow passengers!

Tinkerbell123 and I have been discussing a possible scavenger hunt for our group. Would anyone else be interested in participating?

LOL! I actually have packed to see how much fits in my suitcase... you know, see if anyone else gets to bring clothes....lol

I am SO EXCITED! I dont know who is worse, kids, hubby or me... lol

Now if we could just get some more people from our cruise on the boards. I am really excited to meet all of you! :cheer2:

:grouphug:

Ok, I know it is 6 months away but....

Has anyone looked at what excursions they are planning for our trip?

Hey everyone!

It is like 100 degrees here and hasn't let up for 2 months now - January weather is starting to look really appealing, lol!

I too have started to think more carefully about excursions. I know we want to do the trolley tour on our own in Key West and Chankanaab on our own in Cozumel, but I'm not sure yet about Grand Cayman. I want to book an actual DCL tour for Grand Cayman so we'll know we'll be in priority order for the tenders on and off the ship. I doubt we'll do anything special on CC because my kids love the beach and water.

Any reason why we *have* to book the trolley tour or Chankanaab admission ahead of time (non DCL) - does anyone know?

A scavenger hunt sounds fun! Without knowing what kind of effort it would involve I'm not sure if we could manage it or not...being new to the ship and traveling with 3 little kids for the first big trip ever, we might need a lot of adjustment time. :) I'd love to hear the ideas though!

100!?!?! We were at 27°C(about 80.6°F) this weekend. THAT is considered one of our hottest days of the year this year. It has been a mild summer. We can usually get to about 36°C (96.8°F). I am so jealous!

Ok, Scavenger hunt... We have been discussing doing a small scavenger hunt for people to work on while on the cruise. This will just be for fun and really, just something to do with the kids to keep them entertained. I am thinking of setting up one for kids and one for adults but none of them are something you have to do. Just something for fun.

As for Excursions... this is our first cruise so I am just sticking to letting DCL do all the dirty work. Key West I think we are just going to shop and wander around, Cozumel I want to do the Tulum ruins, Grand Cayman we are taking the kids on the dolphin swim and CC we are doing the package with bikes, snorkles and feeding the sting rays. If we can ever afford another cruise I may look on my own but I really would be too worried abot messing up our first time.

I'm in Maryland - a suburb of Baltimore and not far from Washington D.C. I've lived here all my life and trust me - you do not want this kind of heat - it is very humid and oppressive. We are setting a lot of records this year though, including, sadly, heat-related deaths. I feel so sorry for those without A/C!

Anyway, I'm so very happy to have such a nice group of people here and I am enjoying sharing our excitement with you. :)
