Let's see, five months from today Doug and I will probably be crashing upstairs at the CI&S after our 15 hour car ride.:rotfl: It's never too early to start packing - I've been thinking about starting a box in my closet to set stuff aside that I need to take. Is it bad that I can't wait for the kids to be done with their shorts and swim suits so I can stick them aside too??

Hi! We will be joining all of you in less than 5 months!

We are: Kath (myself), DH Brad, DS7 and DS 4 (he would like me to say he will be 4 and a half at time of cruise - I will add in he is 4 going on 14...)

We are traveling with best friends and their DD 4 and DS 1.

We are all Canadian - I see I am not alone in that regard here! We're taking advantage of the current Canadian special rate from DCL. It is also our first time cruising ever - we became big Disney fans last year. We went to WDW with our traveling companions last November, but they are waiting a while before taking their little one back to the parks, so we figured this was a good way for us all to get our Mouse fix!

I am so glad to see all the 6-8 year old boys so far - DS makes friends easily and will enjoy having some time away from the 4 year olds. He is most excited about going to a club without his parents!

We usually take the first flight out of Detroit, which arrives at MCO at 11:30. Will that be cutting it too close to get to the boat? I would prefer not to take the kids out of school on the Friday, as we are thinking about adding a few days at WDW at the end of the cruise.

Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Welcome Kath!! My kids don't know about the cruise yet, but I'm sure they will be glad to meet so many boys in their age group too!! We couldn't get them out of the club on our last cruise, so I'm sure your kids will enjoy it too.

If you land at 11:30, you will have time to get to the ship. Are you taking the DCL bus? When we flew last year we were checked in for the cruise when we got to the DCL desk and were given our KTTW cards, so all we had to do was get our pictures taken at the port. Then we had to wait for the bus to fill up before it left. That's what took the longest. It's only about an hours drive to the port from MCO. We landed at 12:30, so you should get to the port sooner than we did. Can't wait till January!! :woohoo:

Glad you came over to the meet thread, canadaKath! :) I wanted to add a tidbit to your inquiry about Western excursions: we read a ton of good things about visiting Chankanaab National Park in Cozumel so we plan to head there on our own in a taxi (short ride) and pay admission for my two younger ones and myself. My husband and oldest son will get in free with their pre-paid Manatee encounter which I booked directly through this website (below). Click around - you just might find something suitable for your younger ones too. I plan to hang out at the beach and snorkel area (I think someone even mentioned a playground) with the younger ones while DH and DS are with the manatees and then we'll all hook up later to enjoy the rest of the day. My son is of Mayan descent so I want him to see the Mayan ruin replicas they have there (apparently in miniature). I have been told that Chankanaab is very clean and safe, and close to the port. You do need to use ecologically safe sunscreens, which they sell there if you forget.

Hi Colleen!

I followed your link and that looks pretty good! Maybe we can make plans to go together. Safety in numbers and all that! Do you know if they have places you can get food & drinks there? The site didn't say...

Yep, with that 25% off for Canadian residents, this cruise (and board) sure is gonna get full of my nice, polite and slightly boring fellow Canadians! :rotfl2:

I'm not complaining, since I had my travel agent work her magic (despite having her house flooded!) and apply this whooping $585 rebate to my cruise! I think it qualifies for a Woot Woot! :cheer2:

In fact, as I was jumping all around my kitchen, I looked exactly like the happy banana ---->

It should pay for a couple of drinks! I might even add the wine package... :drinking1

148 days left, folks, not that I'm counting... :rotfl:

It's amazing to see such an active group. I'm so glad to have someone to share my excitement with! :cool1:

Hi Everyone!

After being to Disney several times (we are DVC), we have finally booked our first cruise thanks to the promotion for Canadians.

Cruising in my group we have...

Me - Christina
DH - Jeff
DS - Tristan (7 at sailing)
DS - Connor (5)
DS - Liam (4 at sailing)

We cannot wait for this vacation. We were planning a trip a family vacation for October/ November and were just exploring our final options when the Canadian promotion came out. As soon as I received the email from Disney, it was no brainer that we'd hold off a few months and do the cruise! I am beyond excited and can't wait to become more involved in this thread!

Glad to have y'all with us! My DS will be 8 when we sail and will be happy to hear of more boys going... He was outnumbered by girls last time! PM me if you are interested in FE, etc...

Welcome all newcommers!!! Glad to have you aboard! Nice to see some fellow Canadians joining us!

I had emailed my Abraham at DCL and asked him to adjust my reservation and low and behold.... He worked his magic and kept every aspect, including room number, from our previous booking and got me the discount for Canadians!!! I was SO happy!

So it looks like we are getting some more sailers which I find exciting! Is everyone looking forward to a meeting of some kind? I know I sure am!

He should be happy with our group then. I'm a TA and have now accumulated a group of friends on this sailing. We now have 10 boys (aged 1-7) going with only one lonely girl!

I'll definitely be in touch with regards to FE's. I'm still trying to figure out the ropes and get our plans set out but once I'm up to date with that I can move onto the FEs.

How old is the girl?

Look at us productive people today! I am sure glad the boss isn't in the office today....lol.

Technically I'm working. The joys of being a travel agent. LOL

She is three. We may have convinced another family to join us who have two girls, 2 & 4 so that would help to even things out a bit.

I am trying to find someone Kayle's age for him to hang out with, I am glad Brooke will have Alex and I am sure they will get along just fine but I haven't heard of many boys in the early teens yet, mind you I am sure if he finds a girl to hang out with he wont be too upset...lol. :cheer2:

Now today I get to be unproductive! Expect to see me on here ALOT! :surfweb:

Hi everyone! It has been awile since I visited our board and I was happy to see that our group has grown! We were able to take advantage of the kids sail free offer that came out today. We went from a cat 11b to a 5b for $82 total. Cant beat that!! Excited to hear about the fist extender list soon. I have started buying a few things already for the kids. I loved the idea of a scavenger hunt too. Count us in!

For some reason my subscription to this thread isn't working well so I'm catching up!

First of all - WELCOME MomDad&2boys! Glad to have you here!

Whoever was asking about girls, I have a 3 year old girl coming and she will be thrilled to have any other little (or big) girls to talk to! I also will have my 8 and 6 year old sons.

Kelli - I just saw your question about Chankanaab. I have been assured here on this board that it is a beautiful, clean and safe place with food and facilities available. I did a bit of research on Cozumel in general and found that the crime rate there is extremely low - lower than most cities, big and small in the U.S. Violent crime in particular is almost unheard of in Cozumel. The island is mostly inhabited by middle class Mexican families who feel it is the best place to raise their kids. Because the ferry from the mainland costs almost a full day's wages, most mainlanders do not make the trip, hence the potential for crime moving there stays very low. We plan to just take a taxi over to Chankanaab for the day and enjoy! DH and DS8 are going to to the Manatee encounter which I already booked for 2pm that day. It would be great to see you guys (and anyone else!) there if that's what you decide on! :-) Here's another website with a rather amusing chick doing a video, lol! http://www.cozumelparks.org.mx/

FINALLY, YAY for KSF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were already booked in a cat 4 so it is saving us $2100!! Doing the happy dance! We can really use that savings right now!!!:banana: <---- that's me dancing next to GiddyRhino, lol!

Hi everyone!
We were on the 5/15/11 Dream until today... we hopped on over to this cruise with the KSF... so happy to be on the Magic, on a 7-day, with a Verandah!! AHH!! :)

I plan on reading through this thread tomorrow, but looking forward to cruising with everyone. This will be our very first cruise of any kind... never ever considered doing anything but Disney. So love reading this board for all the wonderful tips!

It will be me and my husband, and 3 girls ages 4, 7, 8.

I see we'll be at CC the day before the first Dream travelers get there.. happy to be checking it out with less of a crowd... hope the weather is great for us. Do the ships ever see each other when sailing? Would be neat to see the Dream sailing that week.

Looking forward to chatting with you all! :thumbsup2
