Jan 2010 Code Watch

Thanks, Collen & fenchurch! That would mean $144 to upgrade - well worth it for us!

I think she was talking abt upgrading the dining plan, not the resort;) Although a $24 upgrade charge to a mod WOULD be a sweet deal!
Yeah...I was just throwing that out there so you could compare-so it would be $24 for to upgrade the DDP and stay at a value or for an additional $43 per night you could go to a moderate (assuming you have 2 kids and 2 adults). I actually like the values but thought you might want to consider that.

I am trying to be an optimist, I am hoping the day after the free dining promo ends, they go right into another. Can't hurt to think positive!!:woohoo:
My DD has her 9th BD in Jan. when we plan to go. Does anyone know about the Birthday box you can order and how much it is?

$210 to $395. You can check it out here: http://www.ftdfloristsonline.com/waltdisneyworldflorist/pages/birthdaywishes/display

Last year is was mid-October. I would love to see it sooner, but not really looking for it until next month.

This will be me come mid-October...

I love it! Of course we could use that for us trying to use the online dining system too!

I agree! I tried to make my dining ressies for Nov trip on Aug 7, the day the entire computer reservation system melted down until around noon. Got up at 5 am because there were a few I wanted to be sure to get (le Cellier, etc) and no dice. :scared1:Called at 6 am no dice. :scared1:Checked back every 15 min for a while, then had to do stuff, got lucky and checked in again pretty soon after it started working. All this when I was out of town and paying for wireless at my hotel! I hope we all have better luck come October ;)

I was just looking at the codes going on right now and I tested them out and now i'm on the edge of my seat waiting for Disney to release the ones for January '10 because they were AMAZING! I was originally going to stay at the Poly but after some number crunching i've decided to go MOD so hopefully Disney releases some realllllly good ones soon so I can save big and maybe go back to the Poly (because who said sticking to one plan is the best way to plan a vacation right?! :rotfl:)
i'm going to go crazy soon... crazier that is!

Alright, and now I'm back to the drawing board for dates and rates and discounts.

I was in a car accident yesterday that totaled our car - I was the only one in the car and I walked away with just a sprained wrist and whiplash. The other driver was totally fine. So, it could have been much worse, and we are not losing sight of that. But, after talking to our insurance company, it appears that an error was made by our agent when our policy was processed two years ago, and we (and this is totally our fault and the big lesson we learned from this) never really read our policy documents to catch the error. Our insurance does not cover our car at all... and we still owe $6000 on it, and need to buy a new car to get around. Whoops. It's a big financial hit, but the big thing is that if I had been two feet forward when my car was hit, I wouldn't be typing this right now. We're lucky.

Anyway, we've decided that we're not giving up our January trip - I am registered for The Goofy and my DH is registered for the marathon, and we have POP booked for 4 nights. I had gotten a quote from "Magical Lisa" last week and we had been waffling about upgrading to the BC for $214 a night... but that is obviously out. The thing that does change the trip, however, is that we had planned to honeymoon in Hawaii (our wedding was in July) in March or April. That is now out. So, the holiday days that we had been allocating for Hawaii are now free for us to change our short marathon weekend trip in to a Disneymoon in January.

Bring on the 4/3!!!!! :woohoo: It's going to be a budget trip (so hopefully the 4/3 isn't just for deluxes, as speculated, if that is actually the discount that is released for 2010) but our splurges are going to be bride and groom Mickey hats (which will be worn for the marathon :lmao:) and one nice dinner at a Signature restaurant.

I guess this is our lemons/lemonaid moment. We're just lucky that I'm alive, and will still be able to train for the Goofy (as soon as my shoulders stop feeling like I've been hit by a bus), and that we will still have the money to make this trip happen!

I am so glad you are okay Sarah. Hope you feel back to normal soon.

Sarah_Rose, good to hear that you came out of that accident without any physical harm!!! But I am very sorry that you had such a huge financial loss and have to give up your honeymoon! I hope you will have the most magical time at Disney instead with a wonderful deal!!

Sarah-Rose, I'm so sorry. I was in a nasty car accident in June and know how scary it can be. I'm confused how you could have an insurance policy on a financed car that doesn't cover a collision-I thought lenders required it? Were you at fault? If not, the other driver's insurance should pay. I gotta say it sounds like your agent screwed this one up. OT for this thread, I know, but I've been there recently and dealing with insurance companies is really no fun.

Semi-hoping for fab January discounts here-but it'll make my decision making harder. I'd like to rent points through DVC to stay at AKL, before we buy DVC-but a fabulous resort discount might change my mind. Spending way more time planning this than planning for the baby I'm gonna have any day now :)

Sorry for the OT, as well. I am at fault for the accident - was turning out of a parking garage exit into a street with no visibility because of parked cars. It didn't help that the other driver was speeding and didn't see me inching out, but it will likely come out 80/20 as far as fault. It's a dangerous situation, and we're hoping our accident helps get something changed about where you can park cars in relation to that exit. We're incredibly confused about the financing/collision issue as well. Our contract does require collision insurance, and we signed up for the policy while they were drawing up the paperwork for the vehicle, and provided the proof of policy to the dealership. We have no idea what went wrong after that. However, according to our financing contract, we do have to pay off the loan if the car is lost or destroyed. We haven't been able to talk to the financing people yet because it's a weekend, but will know more tomorrow. I feel like we should not be liable because we did sign up for a policy that was verified as valid by the dealership, but I know that life doesn't always work out that way and I'm sure there are loopholes everywhere that cover everyone (who is not us) in a case like this. We're going to talk to a lawyer tomorrow before we call Honda Financing.

Thank you for your comments and concern! Are you doing ok after your accident?

has anyone talk to "magical Lisa" over the weekend? I sent an email on the 11th but havent heard anything.

Sarah-I'm glad you're talking to a lawyer. I found some good info googling around-it is really time consuming and stressful, though. We're doing pretty well-no serious injuries, though still seeing a chiropractor, etc. My 3 year old was in the car and I was 6 mos pregnant-like you, I'm very, very grateful we were ok. On the other hand, a Disney honeymoon will be wonderful-belated congrats on your marriage!

Sarah - Glad to hear you're okay! My DH was broadsided back in July, and it scared the heck out of me. He was hit right at his rear axle; if she'd pulled out a split second sooner, he probably would have been seriously injured. Fixing the truck was one of the setbacks that led us to postponing our trip from Sept to Jan. You have my utmost sympathy for the wrench this threw into your travel planning. I know first-hand how bad that sucks, and that mixed feeling of gratitude that you're unhurt with anger/sadness over the financial hit!

And good for you for consulting a lawyer about the insurance issues! After helping my mother navigate a major homeowner's insurance claim, I would suggest that anyone being told their insurance isn't going to pay get a legal opinion on that. I cannot believe the crap the insurance company has fought, quibbled over, or flat denied since my mom's housefire, and apparently being a good customer with the same agency for 30 years counts for exactly nothing.

Would you (or anyone) mind posting or PMing her email or contact method to me? I am curious in getting a quote from her myself.

Thanks!

I sent in a reqest and asked for Lisa for rates for January as well. Unfortunately I got someone else and rates of $400+ per night for gardenview for 1/21 - 1/25. Sounds way too high for me!
