Jan 2010 Code Watch

I received an email this morning with the new 2010 rack rate price. I had booked our rooms at 500 days out at the highest possible rate. The new rack rate was substantially less, and then I called and applied AAA to both rooms. Our total came down almost $2000 from our original booking! I am thrilled! If a better code is released later, than YAY! But even if it isn't, I am very pleased!:cool1: By the way, she asked me if I wanted to convert to a package, which I do not, but I guess that means packages are released too!:woohoo::dance3:

I tried to book a package on the website this morning, but it won't let me. Aargh! I've been waiting so long.... :sad1:

I got my email this morning with the new 2010 room rate: CBR standard view Pirate Room, January 23rd thru January 30th: was $1811.25 and is now $1432.11.

It went down $379.14. I am happy with that.

I will add on tickets but not sure if I will do the dining plan yet. I check online to get a quote to see what the total would be with tickets but it kept saying nothing available for my dates. I guess they are updating the system.

Where do you find the 2010 rates?? Have they gone up substantially? Thanks everyone! I don't know what i would do without you Dis'ers!!:goodvibes

You can check the room rates only on the Disney website. It will give you the rates for room only but not a package. That will probably come later today or within the next couple of days.

I had an email this morning for our January 26 - Feb. 9, 2010 ASMu (14nights) $1579. That was for preferred, which dd requested for her graduation present.

I called and was able to apply my AAA, so it went down to $1208 :yay:

I still have not received an email about the 2010 rates yet. I will probably call later when the kids are busy since they don't even know we're going! I am very curious to see what the new rate is going to be and also add tickets/dining. :)

So other than the weekend rate, it doesn't look like room rates have changed much (for values anyway). I'm especially anxious to see what they do with the dining plans...

Ok, dumb question.

When I got the new email with my new AAA rates...

On the bottom is Deposit Information:
Deposit of : $83.40 due by 8/9/2009
Amt Received: $700.

So, do I actually need to make that $83.40, or is that covered by the $700. Not really an issue, I can pay it, but I'll be calling to make another gift card payment (I've been saving up survey rewards/disney gift cards since may08 and call whenever I get a new one...) mid August and since they don't have an 800 number, would like to call only once.

Thanks!

I booked our January trip starting on Jan 3 since Jan 1 and 2 were holiday rates, and the WL Standard view would have been over $400 a nite with an AAA rate. I tried to find out what disney dining plan prices were for 2010, but was told they would not be out until later in the week.

I need advice!!

So DH and I are returning to WDW January 22-29.

If there is a great code (4/3 or 40% off) we will be staying at Wilderness Lodge.

If not, we'll go with a mod or a value, we don't really care where.

Sooo, my question is:

Should we book Wilderness Lodge when the package rates come out, and later down the road in November when codes/discounts come out, either apply the discount or switch the room?

OR should we just book a mod or value and if a good code comes out to keep our trip under budget, we switch to Wilderness Lodge?

Also, I've read from recent posts that Disney will most likely NOT offer the 4/3 discount again, as they only do it when the tourist industry needs a real boost (aka post-9/11 or the beginning of this year).

How likely do you guys think it'll be that Disney releases a decent promotion, as opposed to free upgraded tickets or something like that?

TIA for your advice!!!

I just called and applied my AAA rate -- I saved another $40 over three nights.

CGLaura -- You have paid $700, you do not owe anything. That is just the format for the confirmations.

I think nobody can say for sure what Disney will offer. The discounts have one reason: get more people to come to WDW. So they are a reaction to how many rooms have already been booked. If this number is low, the discounts will be better for us. If most rooms are already booked, there is no need for deep discounts. Since nobody can say for sure, how the economy will develop and what it will make people do about their vacation dollars, I think everything is still possible. My personal guess would be that there will not be free dining in early 2010 since Disney would not want people to expect free dining as the standard discount. But I am quite confident there will be something. Even in 2008 the January packaged did not only include the Water Park & Fun ticket option for free, but also a dicount on the room which worked out to be around 20% for us at AKL.

For your problem: If you really don't mind which value or moderate, I would suggest not to book anything at all until November. Around that time the discounts should be published. By not booking, you will make Disney believe that you won't come and according to my theory above, that would be one tiny step towards better discounts for everyone! :goodvibes

But if you want to get your best chance for a room at WL I would book it now. When we had booked an AKL pool view room in 2008 but the discount for our time was only available for standard view, the CM was able to work around that and get us a discounted pool view room so that we could keep our room category. That might not work always like that, but I think for us it was only possible because we had the previous reservation.

Hmmm, I was just wondering if you're sure about the holiday rate? I was looking at Mousesavers and for this year at least, they have holiday rates from Dec 18 - 31, and back in Jan, value rates started on Jan 1st. That's how it was several years ago when we went on Jan 1st. So, I was just wondering if that's new and a definite thing or what, since we are going on Jan 2 - 10. Plus, do they still charge you the same rate you got on the first day of the trip, so you have to split into two ressies to take advantage of the switch in season rates? Actually, I'm hoping for maybe the buy 4, get 3 free deal, and paying for the extra night we need the first night since our trip is 8 nights! :goodvibes

Edited: Arrggh! I just saw the new seasons at Mousesavers! Dang it! I don't like that, lol! Plus, Thurs Jan 7 is a weekend night! Some value season, yikes. If there's no good deals eventually, this will be tough!

I think they've raised the prices for the dining plan too. I was fooling around on the Disney site and it's higher for the QSDDP than the prices were last year:headache:. Disney might be pushing my trip to Jan 2011 if they don't release any good codes for Jan 2010. :sad2:

Edited: this was supposed to be in another thread, but with both pages open I posted on wrong page, lol. Anyway, hopefully it's useful here also. I've also copied and pasted into the other thread.

Okay, just go to http://www.mousesavers.com and just there on the front page is the following on the right side of the page. The words Value, Moderate, etc are links you can click on to get to that kind of resort:

LATEST NEWS & HOT DEALS
AS OF 8/2/09

I'm currently compiling Walt Disney World resort 2010 rate charts. So far I've completed the Value, Moderate, Ft. Wilderness, Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge charts.

Hope this is helpful for those not finding the info yet! :goodvibes

What do you think the QS dining is going up to?

Yeah, what's up with Jan. 7th??

Yeah, what's up with Jan. 7th??

Marathon Weekend. 5K on Friday morning, half marathon Saturday morning and marathon Sunday morning. In addition to increasing fees for races, Disney is also "expanding" the weekend rates to make those participating (and others) pay a little more for on-site hotels.
