Jan 2010 Code Watch

See that would mean absolutely nothing to me. I have no desire to go to the water parks (especially in January!). I would cancel my trip if that's all they offer.

Agreed. I wouldn't cancel, but that would be disappointing. Especially since they closed PI. It may be too cold for water parks in January and I really have no interest in Disney Quest. That upgrade would be pretty useless to us. Here's hoping for a good deal:cloud9:

Well I'm basically in the mental state now that I will cancel unless they offer something really sweet. Like 4/3 or 40% off room. I just don't fee like I can justify the expense unless it's one of those incredible deals that comes along during a recession.

I am with you. I really want to go in Jan but I can't unless they give us a good deal. I do not expect a free trip but a decent price is a must for my family at this time! Heres tohoping for GREAT DEALS for all of us Disney Snowbirds!:cheer2:

We are booked for All Star Sports Jan. 22 to the 30th!!! Can't wait but I am still hoping for some type of discount....when we went in Jan. 2008 we got the water park and more and hopper upgrade for free...that was nice but really hoping for something more this time! Keeping my fingers crossed!!!:goodvibes

I would be very, very surprised if they bring back that (lame) promo in this economy. One of the waterparks will be closed and it might be too cool to enjoy the other, so that part of the ticket upgrade is all but meaningless in Jan. Hoppers are nice, I guess, but we only used them one day out of 10 in the parks.

That offer did include a room discount of about 20%, but with free dining or 4/3 running even through the summer and peak spring break/Thanksgiving seasons this year and bookings still down, I fully expect something better.

I agree the WP& more and PH upgrade was lame. I can't wait until they release some 2010 deals. We are probably not going until August, but I am anxious to see whether the deals will be comparable to this year. I am thinking they can't keep running great deals forever. I mean this year was basically always either 4/3 or free dining, with very few blackout dates.

I'm dreaming about a January 2010 trip, so I'll join the code watch. A nice offer from WDW will certainly get me off fence. Let's hope for something really good!

That's my situation too. :sad2: No discount = No trip.

The WP&More upgrade would be useless to me. It will save me a couple $$ on the Hopper but since we never get the WP upgrade in Jan. or do Disney Quest, it's useless. I'm hoping for something more along the lines of the 4/3 like last year :wizard:

I can't remember when the rumors of the 4/3 started circulating last year. Anyone else remember? Might give us an idea of when the rumors will start this year!

The rumors have already started. Some people have seen a "rogue" 4/3 banner ad on the Disney site (that happened with free dining this year too - the ad sometimes came up "accidentally" before the official announcement of the discount), and the Podcast had a rumor about a "more complicated" 4/3 offer coming for 2010.

I can only assume that Disney's marketing people follow this site, so they can see that even if Jan/Feb bookings look ok - without a great deal, lot sof those reservations will be cancelled.

Keep the speculation coming! I'll take any news I can get! :thumbsup2

I checked back to the thread - it wasn't until the morning of Nov. 5th that someone said a CM said something big was coming and hinted at the Post 9/11 deal, which was buy 4 night package, get 7 for same cost. The ddeal was officially released the next day at 5pm. Looks like the key might be to get a talkative CM on the phone.

This is ridiculously selfish of me, but I'm hoping for free dining instead of the 4/3 deal for January. I can't make a 7 day trip in January, what with kids in middle school now. :guilty:

I'm about 6 podcasts behind. Do you remember which one I will listen to that one first

can someone explain how it worked last year?

i am only booked for 6 nights so how would that code apply to me? should i add an extra night to my reservation just to be safe?

I booked the dolphin at $143.20/night; with tax, resort fees that's 171.10/night at the AAA rate. But the good price disappeared quickly. We keep checking every day and if we get a better rate we rebook.

January 12-19, 2010 with my daughter!:cool1::cool1:

I just looked at the spg website and found the same rate for our dates in Jan. I think I am going to book just in case there are no great Jan deals. $143.20 is a darn good rate.

I'm with you on that one. We were planning an 8 night trip, but with the DCL kids sail free deal, I'm thinking I'd rather do 5 or 6 nights at WDW and 3 on the cruise. So I'm hoping for a WDW deal that is good for a little shorter trip, rather than the inflexible 4/3.

I'm hoping for free dining as well. We will be there end of Jan through the start of Feb. Free dining works better for us then 4/3 because we will be there 11 nights.

That's my situation too. :sad2: No discount = No trip.

Since we're already registered for the marathon we're looking at:
no deal: either 2 nights at Disney or staying offsite
deal: 7 nights at Disney

Disney would be getting a lot more of our money with the 2nd option with food, drinks, tours, etc. Based on last year it sounds like we may have to wait awhile to decide though:sad1:

We're in the same boat as most people.

We have the airline tickets, so we're going to Orlando regardless.

Right now, we have the WL booked for a Standard Room for 7 nights, just in case a good deal comes out. If it doesn't, we'll be looking at either staying offsite, or doing a full trip outside of Disney. Without a great deal, and the economy the way that it is, an 8 day trip at Disney is just too darn expensive.

Of course, if they DO release a deal, we'll for sure stay at the deluxe category, with park hoppers, and the deluxe dining plan. So we're planning on spending a pretty penny on this vacation, but it's just not worth it to us without either 40% off or buy 4 get 3 free.

Free dining wouldn't be ideal in our situation, but we'd still take it over that lame free upgrade of tickets. Who goes to a waterpark in January? :confused3

Here's hoping for a great discount, keeping my fingers crossed, and hoping that those August 12th rumors about the 4/3 "complicated" deal come to fruition! :thumbsup2
