Jan 2009 Code Watch

I emailed my TA and she said that IF they put out a special she will pull all of her files for those dates (including mine) and check availability. She said that it will be a brand new booking and it has to be within the booking allotment and....she will check 1st thing tomorrow morning :scared1: ! I don't want to wait until tomorrow - I (we) have waited long enough. If it is a "great" deal, should I just book it tonight and then cancel my AAA trip with her tomorrow?

That is what I was wondering. It says book starting Nov 6! I've been booked since June :scared1: Maybe my TA won't have to cancel and then rebook, maybe there is a way to just switch it over. If a ressie is already booked and then cancelled, won't that automatically cancel all the adr's with the orginal ressie? Oh, I hope not, they should just be able to merge the adr's with the new ressie. I hope.

My AAA TA doesn't think we will need to cancel and rebook - just switch it over.

UURRRGGHHH!! We're booked WL CL January 3rd - 9th. Our reservation on the 3rd is room and DP only because we'll arrive later in the day. To take advantage of the 4 & 3 deal we have to extend our stay until the 11th because the package supposedly starts the 4th. I'm fine with switching out of CL if it isn't part of the deal, although my TA seemed to think it may be. I'd save a little bit of money on airfare coming home on the 11th and not the 9th but I might not actually save anything on the rest of the trip. It would really be just taking advantage of something free and a $200 gift card.

I'm so confused!!

It would be nice to stay those extra days and have a little more time to play and rest! But I don't know!

DH is also nervous about missing the Giants play, if their in the playoffs, that weekend of the 10th and 11th if we're in the air on our way home. I told him we could plan around that to take advantage of the offer. We talked about going to Boardwalk so he could watch the game at ESPN zone and the kids and I could play around there for a little bit.

UGGGHHHHH!!! I wish 5 pm would come!!

I'm in the exact same boat! Jan 3-9 @ WL. We've already booked airfare and can't stay any longer. I'm so bummed!

Not sure if we're going to be able to go, or not as we just went in September for free dining. (We really cannot wait to take our toddler back again. She asks for Dumbo and The Country Bears on a daily basis.) I just wanted to say that it's really exciting to read these boards and I hope this works out the best for everyone waiting in high anticipation :) Cheers to Ears!::MinnieMo

We have DVC and in February I was contemplating renting out my points to stay at a monorail resort but without a dining discount it isn't worth it. My DH and I are going for marathon weekend in January when I have a reservation but we will likely cancel our resort and stay off property.

While this is great for some people I would have been much happier with a discount.

I'm excited, if it is that deal, we MIGHT do it. Mom told me to calculate cost and get back to her, but I have to wait and see if this 4/3 is even the real deal, lol.

if the deal is really good..I may consider banking my points and paying to stay somewhere....we'll see. Right now I am booked at AKV 1br. Jan 4-8 and need somewhere to stay the 8-10th anyway.

ADR's are not linked to your reservation. People staying off-site have ADR's too. There should be no cancellation. (You only have to give your reservation number for the 180+10 calculation. Once you're in the time frame for everyone to make ADRs, they don't even ask for your reservation number anymore.)

Deposit should have been $200 per room.
Disney gives the entire package price to the travel agent...so they don't see the room rate.
you can go to mousesavers and get the price of your tickets and meal plan and deduct in from the overall rate to get an idea of the room rate...but sometimes each is discounted so it would only be a ballpark figure.
AAA will not be able to apply the new code to a aaa package, they would have to remove the AAA and add the new code (no discount stacking)
I'm sure Disney will work with you on the # of days...after all they WANT you to spend your money.

Good luck working with your AAA agent this afternoon!

So you won't be able to add it on top of AAA's room rate? Guess there is no incentive to use AAA travel agent then if I can get the same rate myself directly. My AAA agent isn't going to be happy about that.

I figured it out and without the AAA rate it's only going to save us 112.00 for the whole 8 nites/9 days...of course that doesn't include the 200.00 gift card..if it's true.

Ok a little off topic for only one sec....but I have a question. If I go down before my husband and son and use ME....and they come down the next night can they use ME also? It will only be the two of them. Can they use the luggage transfer also? If this is the deal I'm going to add an extra night and go down with my 2 kids first...and I was just calculating approx. saving and if they couldn't I'd have to factor in cost for getting them to the hotel. Thanks for any help!

Anyone listed on the room can use ME from the airport regardless of when they arrive. Last year my DH came down a day later than us and used ME.

Well I went to the Disney site and got price quotes for 7 days versus 4 days. Figured out the difference, took off my AAA discount, and added on the $200 gift card.

If I figured everything out right, I should save $443.22!

I really hope I figured it out right! That would be AWESOME!!!

You wouldn't be able to use your AAA discount, though, as far as I know. You can't stack discounts.

:goodvibes I think I'm going to email her and ask her to do this for me. Right now we're at ASMu with a family suite and deluxe dining, but I can see scenarios with the 4/3 where we can stay within our budget and upgrade to AKL w/two rooms.

I am hoping to do the same thing!!

Do you think the tickets pay for 4 days get 3 free will be just base tickets or will they include park hopper? And will it be impossible to have the dining plan added on...

OK, I just got off the phone with my AAA TA. She called Disney last night, and here is what she knows.

They confirmed there is something being released at 5 PM EST (4 PM my time) today. they confirmed it is big. But they won't give her any details. :headache:

She also put a hold on a new reservation for me, in case they don't allow us to just switch it, but insists that we cancel and rebook. :thumbsup2

Just one thing she said that scares me a teensy little bit - she said she doesn't know, but there might be a slim possibility that they will not allow EITHER of those options, and only allow this deal on brand new reservations...? I told her there would be a LOT of irate DISers if they did that! :rotfl:

My TA is so wonderful - she's already going to be gone for the day, getting ready to leave for Disney, but she is going to call me FROM HOME this afternoon and make my changes FROM HOME for me!!!! Isn't that wonderful?:flower3:

I CAN'T WAIT!!!! I'M GOING CRAZY!!!!!

I'm going to take a deep breath on that one. Boy, I HOPE they let us rebook to take advantage! I was going to change my airfare and extend dates too...which is in Disney's favor, so cut us a break!
