Jan 2009 Code Watch

They may not have had full details at the time. It shouldn't be too hard if you have to make a new reservation. They've probably already marked off some rooms for this promotion. I'd just make a new reservation and cancel my old one, if they say only new reservations. They can't tell you you can't book a new one.

Exactly...and it only puts the original room reservation back into the system and becomes available for someone else!

Just reading the speculations is making me excited- we might be able to go on this vacation and afford it too without feeling like we should not. Spending this kind of money on Disney is scary and it would be nice to get a nice discount! Fingers crossed

If you have to cancel and book a new one, do you have to do that with 2 seperate calls? Or can you call, cancel, and book a new one all at once?

You can do it in one call, but I'd book the new one first and then cancel the other.

If a code/deal comes out and your not allowed to add it to your existing reservation, and I have to cancel, what happens with my vacation insurance? Am I basically out that money or can they transfer it to a new reservation? Questions, questions, questions...5 o'clock can't come soon enough :goodvibes :goodvibes

Is there a penalty if you cancel a trip through AAA. I put my deposit down on Tuesday. My TA said if a better deal comes out then the AAA discount she would be able to apply it to my current ressie. 5 oclock cant come soon enough.

I don't know anything about vacation insurance, sorry. I never buy it. I know you can cancel it with 14 days of booking.

Do I put the new one under my name? (2 under one name until I cancel the other?) Or do I have to use my husbands name this time around?

Just put this new one in your name as well. If you are worried you can put it in your husband's name and change it to your name at a later date.

we have three people (DS will be 12), no AAA rate, and no dining. I actually did it both ways, with dining and without. This quote was without dining. I'm staying at a value too. Maybe adding another person on is enough to make it that big of a difference?

7 nites for 2 people

83.00 Rack rate x 7=581.00
66.5 AAA (20% off rack) discount rate x 7=465.5
4 for 3 offer without AAA discount
83.00 x 4=332.00
Subtract 332.00 from 7 nite AAA rate 465.50

Equals Savings of 133.5
Ticket Savings total 18.00
------------------------
Total Savings 151.50

I won't count the 200 gift card if it's only for "stuff" and not food or drinks because it's worthless to us we don't buy/need/want stuff.

Is this correct?

This speculation that it won't start until Jan.4 has me seriously depressed! Right now we're booked Jan. 3 - 9. I can extend our stay at the beginning but we're locked into leaving on the 9th.

I wonder if they'd let me pay for 4 and then still get 1 day free instead of 3... one is better than nothing, right???

You can do it in one call, but I'd book the new one first and then cancel the other.

Disney CMs already know to do this. I canceled on reservation and re-booked a package this past Saturday. The CM made sure what I wanted was available, gave me the new confirmation number and then said, "Let's finish canceling the first one" and gave me a cancellation number.

I just got off the phone with my TA at AAA and she didn't have clue about what is going on she asked ME to call her as soon as I heard something...she's very friendly but...im just sayin

Insurance is non-refundable after 14 days - it is not provided by Disney so they cannot refund.

Thanks so much. I figured that. I've gotten in the habit of taking the insurance on all my trips cuz I know the one time I don't...thats when something will happen...Oh well. Hopefully I won't have to cancel and I can just add on whatever deal comes out.:)

Aren't the reservations tied to your phone number and aren't all parties staying in the room listed?

I would think that IF this is for new ressies only, that they will be able to see if anyone going on the trip is already booked to be there??? Maybe not, just a thought. :confused3

It's probably right. I DID count the $200 gift card, because I am not doing the dining plan so it will go towards food. (unless we can include dining in this offer and get 3 free nights of that too!)

If we get the dining plan, we still needed to budget money for souvenirs so I'm still counting the $200 as "savings".

so if you counted the $200, your savings would be $351.50. :)

I just read that sentence a little more closely. Is that what people are thinking - that we can't use the gift card on food or drink?

Has anybody heard if the "buy 4 get 3" deal is going to work on the dining plan? We're going to be there for 7 nights, so it looks like this deal is perfect for us! I hope it includes dining!!

Someone thought the gift card will be like the birthday cards they are giving out, you can only use them for merchandise at certain shoppes and no they aren't good for food or drinks or to put on ressie bill...so basically they are for souviners if that is the case.

If that is the case I'll look for someone making a purchase and ask them if they want a discount..lol...is that illegal?

So are you guys thinking you will be able to apply the AAA discount on top of the Disney discount code???
