Jan 2009 Code Watch

I've been lurking all along and was out most of the morning and was so excited to see so many new posts! Can't wait to see the deal tomorrow!

I do have a question though, is there usually a minimum # of nights that a code would apply to? We are only staying 3 nights. Thanks!

I posted this question before, but didn't get a clear answer...so I'm going to try again!
We are renting points for our trip in January, so I know that a code for lodging won't help us much....but we haven't bought tickets yet and I'm wondering if there was any code that I should be hoping for? We do need to book our first night at Pop and we're going to do the dining plan....so, should I get excited or is a code not really going to help me anyway??

Sorry, I skipped a page while going back to read what I missed while picking up DS from preschool.

I haven't seen anyone answer your question, so I will as best as I can.
This code/special offer will likely not help you in anyway. Disney doesn't not discount tickets. They could offer a ticket upgrade for any resort/ticket package. But since you are renting points and not book a resort room this will not apply to you. Also, they could offer a free dining plan in addition to a resort.ticket package. Again, you wouldn't qualify for it.

On the bright side, the price per night you are paying by renting points will likely be comparable or a better deal than any package. I KNOW how difficult it is to pass on a HUGE promotion, you feel like your walking away from free money, but end the end you are getting a great deal!

I think sometimes there is a minimum night stay requirement. Now, having said that, I was able to apply a code to the trip I took last week. We had a package (2 day park hoppers and dining plan) and we only stayed 2 nights (at POP.)

I am so excited....and nervous. I have a TA for this trip, and I have never had one before. It is a little hard not being the one "in control"-I sure hope my TA is on the ball!

ok, hopefully this is not a really dumb question.... do I have to go through Mousesavers for the code, if it applies to the dates I'll be there.
TIA

Then colleges generally have their "spring break" in March.

In Canada, it's the opposite. Universities have their "Reading Week" in February typically and schools have March Break...well...in March. :lmao: So either way, there's a wack of people heading South come Feb and March.

I just did some quick math, and if you are going for 7 nights, the pay for 4 nights, get 3 free deal is very similar in price to 40% off all nights.

This is really good to know. We currently are booked at 40%. So, we shouldn't bother going for the deal if it is room only? Now, if they offer to give you 7 nights park tickets and/or dining for the price of 4, it would be worth it, right?

I think you're fine with 3 nights, unless it's the pay for 4 nights get 3 free deal. I know with free dining, you had to book a min. of 3 nights and at least 1 day's worth of park tickets.

No. Not at all. Mousesavers is just advertising the deal. You can book/add it directly with Disney.

Mousesavers will give you the information but then you will need to WDW directly or a travel agent. You can go through Small World Vacations, which is through the Mousesavers website. I have used them before and they were wonderful.

If it is pay for 4 nights get 3 free and it includes tickets/dining - thats going to be one sweet deal!

Question for you experts :)

Do you think MLK weekend will blacked out of the offer? I am traveling 1/16 - 1/24 right now. Have they typically blacked out that weekend? Is it just the weekend and can I take advantage of the other days during my stay?

So exciting. DD would love to stay at the Poly. That would be so cool if I could surprise her after her trip to Unv. of Fla. Shands for her check up in January.

I am currently an AP holder. Does anyone know, if the new deal comes out as a General Public package deal, and it is really a better deal then the current 40% off AP deal, can you use the packaged park tickets for a seperate trip in the future. I will not be renewing my annual pass in April of next year, so if I could use the package deal park tickets at a later time then that would work out well for us. Thanks.

Yes and no...I know that when they put out the dates the AP discount MLK weekend was not included...however, I know someone who called and they got a discount that weekend...it was just $10 more/night over the discount for the weekdays...does that make sense.

Ok here is some math (in case this is what it is)

Standard room at a Moderate - 4 nights and get 3 free free WITH 7 day base tickets (paying for 4 day tickets) and regular dining (not free dining, you pay for 4 days, get 3 free).
It would be for 2 adults in Value season- 1444.30

IF you did it for 7 nights regular rates - total is 2221.21

Thats a pretty sweet savings!

ME TOO! MY TA AT SWV WAS ALWAYS ONE STEP AHEAD OF ME!

I think you can if you purchase the no expiration option.

I priced it out. If it's just free dining no. if it's free dining w/ a room discount or some other big package discount yes. While I will end up with 2 1-day tickets (we're getting BF his AP on 12/28) We'll use them for renewals, gifts to friends, or to upgrade to a larger ticket someday)

2 1-day Adult Tickets w/ tax is 159.76(79.88 each) I'd take that number into count when you're decided if the discount is worth it for you. If you're not going to be using the tickets.

Also remember, that you're tickets don't expire until 14 days from 1st use.

Nope, not true. You don't have to pay extra for non expiration.

As long as you don't use the tickets, they are good forever. You can save them for a future trip or you can use their value to upgrade to more days or even an AP.

So, yes, OP, your plan should work fine!

Thanks, but what if the GP Package deal includes park tickets for your entire stay? Can you use those tickets at a later date? Or are they attached to your room so you can't? Sorry if I seem a little confused, but I have never booked a package before. I feel that this huge deal is going to be a GP package deal, so I'd like to weigh all of my options so I am ready tomorrow.
