Jan 2009 Code Watch

That would be sooooo great. What were the savings on that? He said it was better than that. OH MY. Mama's gonna need a cold shower!!

If you are referring to my post about OKW, I do not recall the exact savings. We had 4 adults and I know it was in the thousands. A 2 bedroom at OKW is not inexpensive to begin with, and to give 3 nights free? It was great. I want to say it saved us about $2100???????

At that time, I was a member of the Magic Kingdom club. Someone correct me if I have the name wrong. But back then it was a paid membership that allowed you to received extra perks. They have since discountinued it. I do remember that the program was at it's end when I made the reservation but they did open the ''sale event'' up to general public shortly there after. Hope this helps.

With anticipation of this GREAT DEAL..............guess I can afford to wait a few more days before changing my trip plans. :woohoo:

I believe that Disney will come out with a promotion, I always have. Jan is one of the least visited months of the year and add on top of that the economic state. An empty room doesn't make any money on the room or any money in the parks. I don't have a clue what it will be but I believe there will be something.

From what I read Disney wasn't going to make any decisions until after the election for whatever reasons so here's to hoping.

You'e right. For whatever reason they were waiting until after the election. I wonder if they had a donkey plan or an elephant plan?

You guys are going to make me lose my job -- because now I am going to have to keep checking back at this thread all day!!! Really excited if there is going to be a "special" deal for my little mother daughter trip for January. Can't wait to see what the rest of the week will reveal.

Lauren

OMG you guys! When I read this news about a potential huge discount, I got so excited I couldn't even remember DH's phone number at work to call him and tell him!!! :rotfl:

It took me 10 min to get logged into Dis, couldn't remember my pw. Then I lost all ability to complete correct senctences. I'm shot for the rest of the day.

:rotfl: that is too funny!!

i just called dh at work and told him about it...after months of 'not this year' he is rethinking! :cool1:

Wow...I'm really getting excited about this again!:cool1:

When a discount comes out, are the CM's usually pretty good (and patient) about helping you figure out what options work best for you? I already have ressies for ASMusic suites, but if the discount is good enough...it would love to move to a Moderate resort. I hope I can get a CM who will help me price out all of the options. :yay:

In my experience, it depends on who answers the phone first. I have had WONDERFUL CMs that have ''held my hand'' when planning and then I have had others that lacked that magical touch. I have been known to thank the CM on the other end without making a ressie and called back moments later in hopes of finding that special person. One gentleman told me personal stories and experiences while making a ressie and we were on the phone for nearly an hour.

It does help to be somewhat prepared and open to suggestions, but for the most part, they are very patient and willing to help.:goodvibes

And if they're not, hang up and call back until you get one who is!

When the AP rates came out, I called to see if it made sense to change to an AP. Took quite a while, checking various resorts, but the CM was very helpful.

What does 4day/night mean? is it 3 nights and 4 days or 4 days and 5 nights? Also, what is a package, is it dining included? Does anyone have a link to how much packages run right now? Sorry about all the questions, never booked anything but room only so I'm clueless!:surfweb:

All I hope is that someone at Disney either reads these - so that they know what we are all feeling.

I hate to be Captain Obvious, but even if Disney did read these boards, DIS board members are merely a drop in a bucket of the amount of people that visit Disney on a daily basis. So needless to say, what we say here wouldn't even matter to their overall plan anyhow.

If this is true...do you think it will be for a package deal or just room reservation??? I'm staying 7 nights at Disney but haven't booked a package yet...I am an AP Holder...so I'll be with many of you who will be hoping for the one CM who will be willing to hold my hand through out of all this and help me get the best deal possible.

I think I'm going to start doing the math now and see what will give me the best options.

I am also waiting for a code or something for Jan.

We went about 2 weeks after 9/11, but had already been booked a few months in advance. The deal we got was buy 1 adult package, get a child for free. At the time I had 2 kids, so we paid for 2 adult park hoppers and got 2 kids free. It also included plane tickets, paid for 2 adults and the kids were free. They didnt have the dining plan at the time, and we stayed at the All Star Movies. Cant remember what we paid total, but I think it was around $2000 for a week stay. I have never seen a deal like that again, and I remember they ran an add in the Sunday paper that I noticed and thats how we found out.

Something like that would be great.
