Jan 2009 Code Watch

I just call again, still no code.

I think it is interesting on how different CM's respond to the question "Are there any codes that can be applied to my reservation?"

The answers range from the very polite "Let me check, hopefully there is something there for you" to the not so polite, which I just received "We cannot arbitrarily look for codes to apply to your reservation."

I know these people have tough jobs and have probably heard that question 100 times already today - so I am not being negative. I just think it is interesting. Luckily there are a few of them, so you never get the same one twice!

OK I ran here today after we finished school looking for a code- and I continue to hold my breath! Oh Well hopefully this week....

I'm sitting here drumming my nails on my desk...WHEN ARE THEY COMING OUT!!! Sorry...didn't mean to yell :rotfl: I'm just soooo not patient :headache:

Hi! I know that this thread is for the code watch but I see you've been there in jan/feb for a few years now. This is my first year and i was wondering do you have any opinion on wether to pack more towards the cooler side or warmer side. This is my 1st time and have no idea what to expect. Also, we have a family of 6, did you laundry there or just bring enough to make it last? Oh and if anyone else wants to chime in feel free i could use all the help i could get!:confused3

Thanks!

Meet us over at the Snowbirds thread!!! We're all going in January!
I've never gone in January so this is my first time too. They answered lots of my questions plus everyone is fun to chat with! One is even our personal weather girl- she lives in FL and will be giving us updates on the weather as it gets closer so we can all figure out what to pack. I'm a family of 4 and I always do laundry while I'm there so I don't have to pack as much. I think my motto this time will be "layers."

:goodvibes 5 more days til November!! Maybe we'll hear something then :confused3

In the meantime... group hug! :grouphug:

wendle, We went in Jan 05 & Jan 07. In 2005, we wore jeans and short sleeve shirts but in 2007 it was shorts and short sleeve shirts. I went online to check the weather when the time was closer... :goodvibes

As for laundry... it depends on how many days you are going. We did laundry down there so we didn't have to pack so much!:thumbsup2

Disney!! Where are the Jan codes? Huh? where oh where? I'm trying to decide to plan Dec or Jan. and can't do either until I know the Jan codes!

Nail biting conts.....

Just called Disney reservations, no codes out yet (AP or Visa). He feels they will be out within the next couple of weeks. I asked him about the pin codes being sent out for select guests that have a start date of Jan 4th, wanting to know if he feels the AP codes will probably start that date. He thought that is a good bet that the AP codes will start on the 4th too (of course he doesn't know for sure).

OK dumb question here...IF a code comes out today, tomorrow whenever...how do I take advantage of it? Or is it the 3 letter code on Disney's website? Thanks!!!:goodvibes

Okay, well I just made our ADR's for the 21-25th. Hopefully these dates will be included for a 40% off rate in January.

Oh the work I could've done instead of obsessing over these codes.....

Ohh....I hope that it covers from Jan. 1-5....Mousesavers indicates that last year's AP started on Jan. 1...we are leaving then!

I realize that this time of the year will not be a problem to book so here's to hoping anyways!! :)

I called reservations and a very nice man told me that usually these boards know about any codes before they do. :lmao: He said they most notice they get is 24 hrs and it is usually not even that much notice. He has not heard of anything for January as of yet.

I'm booked for Jan 1-10th so I am hoping a discount code is out from the 1st instead of the 4th too, but I'll take anything! At least I have a AAA discount for that timeframe. Glad to hear that Mousesavers stated that the discounts were starting on the first for last year. The 1st of January last year was a Monday So maybe that is why, but since the 1st is on a Thursday, the weekend could still be pretty busy.

Quick question:

I'm familiar with the disney code that has come out for the last two years in a row, consisting of free upgrades for WPF&M to tickets, which we recieved in Jan 07 and Jan 08. I've never gotten a room only discount from Disney during our Jan stays, only the AAA room only discount. We stay at WL, do these discounts apply to all resort levels? We are currently booked at WL club level with ddp and tickets for Jan 09, what are the chances we'd get a discount code for our room? Do club level rooms normally get discounted? If we could save more than AAA is offering that would be great. I notice people are hoping for free dining....that would save everyone a bundle for sure, I like the sounds of that

My TA explained it this way: Disney uses the codes as an internal "clearance sale". If they are overstocked on a particular room type at a particular resort, then the discount code will apply. If a resort is fully booked (or appears it will be so) then the code may not apply to any remaining rooms at that facility. The more rooms they have the clearance, generally the better the "sale".

I got the feeling from her that as a Disney specialist, she knew WHEN the code(s) would be released and what the savings would be, but she just didn't know which resorts it would apply to. That information is provided at the time the discounts are made public.

That said, January is only about 70 days away, and the Wilderness Lodge still has lots of availability showing (at least during the time when we'll be at WDW....all 7 room types are still available). So that might mean good news for you! Lots of unbooked rooms should mean that a code would apply there.

First off let me say that this is just all my personal thinking-I have absolutely no insider knowledge-and am very likely very wrong....but.....

I think folks are being too wishful thinking that they will see 40% discounts to the general public. I wouldn't be surprised if Disney offers the same free upgrades for WPF&M at least for the first offering. Perhaps a bit higher room discount this year.

Maybe if they don't get enough bookings they will offer more discounts like free dining offers they have for November in the future.

I hoping for a nice AP discount. I'm booked at AKL club level and will be OK with the AAA discount I have now but would love a higher AP discount. I've never stayed AKL club level so I don't know if/how many AP there might be on that level of room.

Thanks for the insight. I agree that 40% off or free dining is a bit much for me to expect. We don't have an AP or the Disney Visa so we are quite content with the AAA discount. But a girl can dream can't she?
